Macy Pewt

Macy felt the pressure release from her hands.

The **** is she...?

"Don't pressure the interns too hard, that's the heads' jobs, you know?"

Macy pulled a hand away, adjusting her glasses.

"Speaking of interns, have you talked to any of them directly yet?"

Buraddo Jemu

"Well, I like to be involved with the place. Besides, interns are here to learn. Who better to teach than the ones leading?"

They swiveled slightly to indirectly face the one with glasses.

"Nice to meet you. As stated, i'm Head Detective Buraddo Jemu. Be as formal or informal as you want with titles and yada-yada. Do you have any questions about the place or operations? I know orientation should tell you most of it but I'm not really a fan of how... indirect things tend to be."

Jace Mawer (Nora)

Foiled again! She clenched her fist. I'll get you next time, Macy! Prepare yourself for the wrath of The Great Nora: aka the amazing Jace Mawer!

"Naw, I got a bit distracted with Narsissy here." Nora giggled and reached over to pinch his cheek. He swatted her hand away and glared at her. "I do plan to, though! They're adorable... and I suppose they could prove to be preeetty useful, you know?"

"Scheming again, I see." Narcisse narrowed his eyes. "And so the conniving snake rears its ugly head. What're you planning?"

"I actually have a very pretty head. One I'd like to keep attached to my body!" Nora laughed. "I don't see how I could be planning anything. They're keeping me very busy~ maybe it's something to do with my upcoming promotion~?"

The Head Detective's eyes flashed with cold rage. Ooo, that really pushed his buttons. He was actually clenching his jaw- like full on, teeth breaking grinding. She didn't know people actually did that outside the movies.

Huh! Well you learned something new every day!

Adrik Volkov

"I-I have a few." Adrik bit his lip. "Um... what are our responsibilities here? Like, the basic stuff?"

"You're free labour, kid." Andreja rolled her eyes. "You're here to be an extra janitor, but with the bonus of being treated even more like dirt. Your 'responsibilities' involve figuring out how much cream the big guy wants in his coffee."

"Oh."

He wasn't sure what to say to that so he just went on.

"If we take on more immediate, investigatory roles, can we get extra credit for our internship? Is the agency directly involved with any universities?"

Macy Pewt

"Oh, well," Macy faked a sigh. "I guess I should be going. May as well get a head start on cleaning considering I'll have a whole nother cleaning job after orientation. See you later!" She swiveled on her heel and began scanning to see where things looked the worst.

Buraddo Jemu

Buraddo rolled their eyes at Andreja's comment. "Your job is to do whatever needs done and to see and learn whatever you can. The whole unpaid labour thing is messed up, but hang around with the right people and you can at least get some free stuff out of it."

They paused for a minute on the other two questions.

"I don't think you can get actual credit beyond the basic stuff, but some of us can put in a good word or two for you. And I think we've sponsored a scholarship or two, but besides that, not really."

Jace Mawer (Nora)

"Aww, you can't stay?" Nora pouted.

"No, she can't." Narcisse crossed his arms. The murderous rage building in his eyes showed no signs of stopping, or even slowing down. She was a little impressed, as well as slightly terrified. "Some people do their job. They don't go around bothering their superiors. No, it takes a certain kind of idiocy to do that."

Ooo weak spot! Little Narcisse was insecure about his job. This was going great.

"Ah, but that's where you're wrong. What if it is my job?"

"To torment me beyond human capability?"

"Yeah, that, and to bring you down a peg or two! Teach you a lesson 'bout humility."

Narcisse sneered. "That's just about the most foolish thing you've said yet. Keep going. Surpass your limits of morony. At this point, I'm not even surprised."

Adrik Volkov

"Ah, I see." Though he wanted to act happy for this nice person who was giving him some genuine advice, Adrik found himself drooping a little bit, avoiding eye contact. "...thanks for the tip..."

"Some tip," Andreja snorted.

"They're doing their best..." Adrik mumbled feebly.

Cadence Laurier's POV

"Stay."

She was a little surprised at Michon for thanking her for a moment, before merely brushing it off and saying, "Ah, I see. Thank you for informing me of the nature of the situation."

"He might not be my senior for much longer. After all, there's been talk of a promotion for me. The ceremony tonight might just be the start of my increased responsibility."

How comforting.

"Laurier, would you like to accompany me to dinner? The orientation will begin at 7... we still have an hour to catch a meal."

Cadence considered this for a moment, unsure of what the nature of his invitation was. However, it might prove to be a useful endeavor, and she could think of no reason to refuse.

"Alright. That sounds... Agreeable."

"Ah, that marks the end of that. Hey, Yu-Yu! Wanna hit some fast food with me? These bores are probably going to some expensive ass authentic restaurant, but I figured you'd understand the importance of the fried maybe-chicken to a human's diet."

Oh, yes. Mawer being unbearably irritating. What else was new?

…she prattled off a lot more dialogue that was so irrelevant and so infuriating that Dorky literally didn’t write it here because all it did was make Cadence want to pummel the other head detective’s face.

“Michon. I think we should just get to our work for now.” Then, she lowered her voice. ”...and get far away from… that maniac.”

For both their sakes, seriously. With her prattling on and on, how was anybody supposed to get anything done?

Cleaning supplies. Some kiddo here was asking about cleaning supplies. Why did they have so many janitors at this building anyway? Ah, she supposed that cleanliness was significant to organization, and organization was one of the key parts of working here. So maybe it was relevant, to a point.

God. No more about fatty foods this, fatty foods that. Pretty head. Nah, the only way her head would look pretty is if it was NO LONGER ATTACHED. That'd be a pretty sight.

She needed to get to work. And she wasn’t going to let insane Medusa lady distract her.

Eloi Torres’s POV

”Y-You... you don't need to apologise... or qualify your statement or whatever else you're trying to do."

“Oh, I… thank you. Sorry. I just…” He scratched the back of his head, attempting to find the words.

"It's honestly... fine. There's no real need to worry, y'know?"

“Yeah. I– I guess you’re right! I just… really don’t want to mess this up, you know? There are a lot of people counting on us… and, um, okay. That sounded dumb. And overdramatic. And like some sort of- ch-cheesy reference to a superhero show or something. With great power comes– something. Uh, never mind, I don’t know what I’m saying. H-Have we been introduced? I’m Eloi Torres. A d-detective here. Somehown By some, by some… um… miracle. Yeah. And… You are?”

Suzume Fujimori’s POV

Suzume groaned. Oh, no. Someone else here with the same job did not take it nearly as seriously.

She got up from her chair at the sound of somebody spinning their own around, and rubbed her eyes. She really had overslept. One hour of sleep was plenty, especially since all the rest needed to be dedicated to RESEARCH.

“Our job here is to analyze physical evidence of crime scenes in order to get a clearer picture of the crimes that took place. You don’t even know what your obligations at this workplace are? I do hope you’re joking.”

Maybe it was a joke. Suzume did not consider herself attuned to what one might refer to as “social norms”.

“But I guess if you want to get yourself fired, that’s… your business, I suppose.” She shrugged and handed Cecilia Horton some material to analyze. “Good luck with that.”

She proceeded to go back to her own work, feeling no need to explain further to somebody who SHOULD be feasibly qualified to do the work of a Forensic Analyst.

But it was perfectly fine with her if she had to do it alone. After all, she was in it for the science.

Laurence Walton’s POV

Laurence Walton raised his eyebrows in puzzlement as he felt the other intern hide behind him. Aaaand a very annoying crackling laugh.

"An intern? What is this, Kindergarten? You trying to hide behind mommy's skirt? Scared of big bad Andreja?"

Laurence narrowed his eyes into slits. So she was one of those particularly irritating people who were just obnoxious and undignified for no reason. She didn’t even belong in this institution.

"Is that your name? An...Andreja?"

“Does it matter what her name is?” he asked the glasses kid in an annoyed mutter. “We should just get out of here.”

He surprised himself when he said ‘we’. It wasn’t like the kid had even mattered. Then again, this ‘Andreja’ was clearly a loon.

Then, all of a sudden, some unknown figure busted in like it was their business.

"I know you're 11 years and a few positions my inferior, but this seems below you, Buivis."

Well. Thankfully, someone else had more than one brain cell.

"Oh, Head Detective Jemu! I wasn't aware that you were interested in the lower class. Was it getting boring up there at the top? I bet it was. Not very many people for you to yell at over there. I can't imagine how sad it must've been for you."

…Jesus. Everything about this woman was designed to be irritating.

"So what brings you over here? You want to toy with some baby interns? Hell, I won't stop you. Go right ahead."

BABY interns?

So, what was her deal, exactly? Intimidating people with her complete and utter stupidity so that they would be so afraid of winding up that UTTERLY devoid of reasoning that they would somehow have better job performances?

"You're... a head detective? It's nice to meet you...sir..."

Laurence cleared his throat. “Yes. It is an honor to meet you.” He wasn't about to waste his breath on the crazy abomination that was Andreja. “What brings you here?”

"Well, I like to be involved with the place. Besides, interns are here to learn. Who better to teach than the ones leading?" That was honestly a good point.

"Nice to meet you. As stated, i'm Head Detective Buraddo Jemu. Be as formal or informal as you want with titles and yada-yada. Do you have any questions about the place or operations? I know orientation should tell you most of it but I'm not really a fan of how... indirect things tend to be."

He’d have to keep that in mind.

He figured it might be a good idea to tag along, but he’d figure things out well enough on his own. It didn’t really matter in the end.

But… oh, great. She was laughing. Louder and louder.

Did she exist solely to attempt to get a rise out of others? My, what a touching sentiment.

“Pardon me, mighty Andreja. Don't you have better things to do than laughing at a high school student for no logical reason? I don't see how that gets work done around here. And on that note, I should probably be going myself.”

Cali Mabey’s POV

Okay, maybe that wasn’t a good idea. He really should just get to his paperwork…

Cali headed off to look through some of the case files information. He… didn’t really trust his reasoning when it came to this stuff, but, oh well! It didn’t hurt to try, right?

Hmm… there were supposed to be interns at this place. Cali flipped through the pages. Yes, they might benefit from some help from some of the fellow detectives. They flipped another page.

But they had to attend to the work, too… maybe on his break he’d try and help some of the interns out, if it was alright, of course…

It got so lonely and stuffy up in the office sometimes!! Break time was always the best time. Because break time meant talking to people!! Socializing!! Woo!! Yeah, maybe Cali wasn’t cut out for this lonely sort of work, but…

He was helping people by doing it, right? That was what mattered!

Sawyer Laurens’s POV

Sawyer zipped into a wall at the speed of light while screaming something about being on a quest to find the ultimate pudding. This is not a reference, I swear. They are totally fine.

Narcisse Michon

"I wholeheartedly agree."

Narcisse shook his head. He'd wanted to get a chance to talk to Detective Mawer alone... He supposed putting it off for a few hours would be fine. After all, she was always at the Agency. He could probably find the chance later.

Great. Now I've jinxed it.

He sighed. "I suppose dinner is off the table?"

The baby janitor girl said something, then started walking away. Narcisse looked up, surprised. "Hey!" he called out sharply. "Hold on!"

Cadence Laurier's POV

"I wholeheartedly agree."

Cadence smiled slightly. Now they could get away from that lizard-tongued maniac.

"I suppose dinner is off the table?"

She paused. "Does it not fit into your schedule anymore? If so, that's alright, I suppose."

But of course, Cadence had the feeling that there might be something he wasn't telling her. Something Michon had been intending to get to... That he didn't want her to know about. She wasn't all too sure where she was getting this feeling from, but for some reason, it sounded right.

And now he was scurrying off after the little janitor. As curious as she was to see where this went, she knew that she had better get started with her urgent work.

"Well. I think it's best that I should go do my work now. Perhaps I'll see you later, Michon."

She headed off to her office, curious what he might have wanted with that janitor... But she must prioritize results over her own childish curiosities.

Eloi Torres's POV

"Eloi Torres. That's a nice name. I'm Niwa Atsushi... another detective, I guess. You like old superhero stuff?"

"O-Oh! Than... Thank you. Your name is nice... Too." Then his face flushed with embarrassment, and he pulled his hat down overtop of it. "S-Sorta, I guess, uh... I-- saw some of that... Ancient stuff and... I thought it was... Kinda cool, it's- umm- dumb, really. I shouldn't have brought it up."

He could already hear the echoing laughter inside his head as he buried the comic books in his bag.

"You still like that stuff?"

"What a NERD! People stopped making that YEARS ago!"

"The robots already do that kind of thing. It's not that impressive!"

"Get your head out of the clouds, idiot."

"What are you, eight years old?"

"Umm... What are-- what are you into?" Eloi asked with a forced smile. I should just agree with everything he says. It should... Make things easier. I think... Does he think it's stupid too? I just... Thought they were cool.

Laurence Walton's POV

Laurence was thrown back against the wall, about as much as he was taken aback at the fact that not only was this girl a rambling moron, but also a delinquent as well. He let out a small indignant gasp as he felt at his jaw and attempted to get to his feet.

"Of all the uncouth--" He cut himself off and shook his head. He must not let this... Lunatic make a fool out of him. "What's your problem? Have you no civility?" He dusted himself off. "It seems almost that you didn't evolve with the rest of our society. Have you some sort of 'sad backstory', like your parents don't give you enough attention, so you feel the need to provoke everyone you meet?" he scoffed.

What am I even doing? I should just get to work. But this girl could be a seriously dangerous individual. She needs to be contained.

Narcisse Michon

Narcisse smiled at her. "Of course. Thank you for your time, Laurier."

With that done and officially over with, he took the moment to regard the janitor again. "I didn't say I couldn't help you find your post... and since it seems we won't be going out after all, I might as well."

It was in his job description, after all. Helping those under him reach their full potential. Besides, he knew the ins and outs of this agency. If anyone could find such a thing, it'd be him. And the girl did look rather pitiful. Lost. He got that. He understood.

"Perhaps around the Scientific Department? They do have a lot of closets..." Yes a lot of closets and-

He paused. "What is all that commotion?"

Niwa Atsushi

"You're... you're into the old comics?" Niwa blinked rapidly, trying to sort through all that... god, all that information. "I- I love comics. Comic books, anyway. My parents had an old collection. I used to read through it."

Just about their only redeeming trait. They were scum... but scum with good taste.

"I've always looked up to superheroes. They save the day... and they always do it so happily too. Like it's all that matters to them. Like they're good people."

Third Person POV

Andreja grinned, a feral edge to her lips. "Not so high and mighty anymore, are you?"

Then she lunged at him, and they were both sent rolling across the ground.

"Stop it! Stop it!" Adrik wailed. The boy hovered over the two, hands wrangling with indecision as they wrestled. Andreja's head hit the ground and she yelled, kicking up into Laurence's stomach. "YOU'RE HURTING HIM!"

Crowds of people flocked to the noise.

Cadence Laurier's POV

"Of course. Thank you for your time, Laurier."

She smiled back at him, before finding her way to her office. Alright. Let's see here... What do we have to sort through...

Eloi Torres's POV

"You're... you're into the old comics? I- I love comics. Comic books, anyway. My parents had an old collection. I used to read through it."

Eloi was about to give some sort of neutral response, something that neither affirmed nor denied Niwa's statement, because he didn't want to be made fun of yet again, until he heard Niwa say he also loved comics.

"O-Oh! Really?... I... Thought I was the only one. Maybe you could show me your parents' collection somet- I- I mean, maybe I could show you my own. You- said they had an old collection? Did they... Throw it out?"

Oh, great mechanical lords. What was he saying?! What if Niwa was just humoring him? Maybe he did think he was a stupid nerd...

"I've always looked up to superheroes. They save the day... and they always do it so happily too. Like it's all that matters to them. Like they're good people."

Maybe... He's just... Someone like me.

"Oh, really? I-- know what you mean. They're so cool. And everyone is so happy, and they're so happy that everyone else is so happy... And they're so amazing. I wish- I was that amazing. I'm just an ordinary guy who somehow happened to become a detective." He sighed. "I'm- really not that good at this job, either, but, I guess I try my best. I wish I was like those heroes..."

He smiled shyly at Niwa. Maybe... Things wouldn't be so bad. Maybe he could make his own friends, to call his own?

Laurence Walton's POV

Laurence was suddenly stricken into panic. Shoot, he should have gotten out of here while he still could! Goddammit. Ow.

He should punch that smug look off that girl's idiotic face. His fist connected with her lip, while trying not to scream out in pain. He just had to get out of this situation.

Abryn Soelare

"YOU'RE HURTING HIM!"

Oh lovely. First thirty minutes of being here and some idiots were already bickering and getting physical? Honestly... What did he expect? Not like this was uncommon, people having their disagreements and all, but seriously? Here of all places? this early too? Abryn was just about to have a nap, already bored of the seemingly random conversations happening all around him that he couldn't even be bothered to pay attention to. That yell was just startling enough to disturb him, never to return to that blissful slumber again...

He took one last sip from his mug of coffee before hoisting himself off the chair with a sigh, his movements already somewhat groggy. Abryn took a moment to stretch his back before stuffing his hands into his coat pockets, then made his way to the commotion. Jesus... Bunch of teenagers talking with their fists. He recognized one of them, Andreja, figuring the rest were probably interns. Not surprising, she was a bit of a hot-head, but the time it took for her to get into trouble was. He stood before the two, looking over at the much younger bystander before glaring back at the WWE fighters.

"Aaaaalright, break it up you two..."

man i hate writing

Cassidy Louvin

Oh yeah. She completely forgot that she was supposed to be scary, honestly. This was one of the first times Cass actually interacted with Andrea, never really having the chance to due to being in far different departments. Although... Now that she thought of it, she heard a bit of chit chat every now and then about how intimidating she really was.

Oh well! That never stopped her before, maybe Andrea wasn't as scary as everyone said, right? Orrrr maybe, just maybe Cass was oblivious enough to be one of the lucky ones. The thought that Andrea would probably kill anyone else didn't even come into her mind.

Less annoying, huh? Those words sent a small tinge of pain into her heart, but the goofy smile still remained. She was always told about how her eccentric and outgoing attitude was a pain in the ass to deal with, but... At least she wasn't being shooed away, or worse, smacked, right?

Cass went a little bug-eyed at the comment about men screaming, a little shocked and taken aback, but over all still fascinated. Really driving the whole "supervillainess" vibe home there, aren'tcha? Cass thought it was cool, as made obvious by the lack of any self-preservation and continued attachment to her new buddy. Even if the term was a bit one-sided. Fun little quirks made people unique, y'know? It was always great to run into someone this fun and interesting. "Prey?" She watched with a small laugh as Andrea made those gestures. "Oooh, how frightening~"

"Alright, noted! Hope I can return the favor and all, show my 'preciation, y'know?" Cass was probably grinning ear to ear by now, smiling so much it would make the Joker jealous. Been a while since anyone other than her family and small children made such a meaningful interaction with her. Sure, there were others here who knew her and all but they usually never... Let's just say "met on good terms." Speaking of good terms, was that a nickname she heard? Alia. Damn that was a neat one. Better than Cass, honestly... "Alia..." She repeated, "I like it!"

Speaking of nicknames, Andrea sure was using quite the variety for Cass. She didn't mind being called "darling" and "cutie", honestly. Plus, made the conversation more relaxed, somehow. The compliments kept rolling as well, flustering Cassidy even more. And the confidence? Andrea clearly took pride in her work and wasn't afraid to show it, Cass admired that, and honestly wished she could do the same. Sure she wasn't all that hard on herself and all, she knew she was going far in her line of work based off age and skill alone, but it still felt a little wrong to be proud of it. She was just doing what she wanted to do, doing what she was told, meeting standards, right? Didn't feel all that special, but if someone like Andrea thought it was "not too shabby," then who was she to say otherwise? "I-" Deep breaths Cass, it shouldn't be possible to be this flustered. "Uh... Thank you! Just doin' my best, heh. I think you're doin' pretty good yourself!"

“Oi, move- move it. Watch it. watch my feet- I’m wearing sandals, hurts like hell.”

a fairly tall man pushed through the crowd, sighing, pinching the bridge of his nose.

“There are people trying to sleep here, jesus…”

he ran a hand through his long, messy mop of hair, calmly standing between the two, hands in the pockets of his black shorts, his posture relaxed and lazy.

"What’s going on here, huh? Some people are trying to sleep- by that, I mean literally only me- and a fight really doesn’t help the peace.”

Aleksandr sighed, glancing over to Abryn. He gave a little wave, before returning his focus to Lawrence and Andreja.

“it’s way too early for this. If you’re gonna fight, can you take it outside. Out of my line of sight. or out of hearing range, or just generally away, Intern and, uh, Andrewina, or whatever your name was?”

He waved dismissively, yawning.

Kit raised an eyebrow at the break out between her colleagues

Really? A fight? What is this, high school?

She smirked and flicked open a hefty file holding a vast sum of information on every recorded case. Turning each page carefully, Kit scanned for anomalies or missing details, comparing it to her own notes

Andrea A Kaminsky’s POV

“Well I suppose prey isn’t the most fitting word either. What’s a better word for it….goods? Mmm, yeah, that seems like a better term. You’ve no idea how easy men are to manipulate after a few drinks, a couple accidental displays of indecency and the like. Rohypnol is a particularly handy drug to induce sleep. As well as anterograde amnesia. Though most don’t survive more than a day after interacting with me.” Andrea drawls out, curling her fingers like a cat and admiring her way-too-pointy purple nails.

“Well….If you do wanna show your appreciation, sweetheart, there is something you can do. And please, do feel free to call me Alia…..” Andrea trails off for a moment or two, as if considering if she should continue.

“What do you say you spend some of your free time with me? I could teach you how to do forensic analysis. A little bit more knowledge never hurt anyone, y’know what I mean, cutie?” Andrea clearly enjoyed seeing how flustered Cass got, evident by the small smile on her face, the most genuine expression she had ever showed during this…intern welcome thingy.

“Chin up, darling. Appearances may not be everything, but it’s certainly damn helpful. Put on an air of confidence, hold yourself with pride. And try not to fluster and stutter. It’s cute, that’s for sure, but won’t leave a good impression on your work partners.” Andrea purred out, stretching out a hand to flick upwards, gesturing to Cass.

Niwa Atsushi

"Throw it out? Naw..." Niwa coughed, avoiding eye contact. "Fire. Kinda nasty."

It was nice hearing him talk, though. People who liked heroes were far and few today. No one really cared about things like right or wrong, because grey was the predominant shade today. Black and white was the thing of legend, because with humanity dead...

For some reason, his lips quirked up in a smile.

"Don't worry. Call it intuition, but I feel like you'll really do something great. Someday, your dreams of being a hero won't just be dreams. That's a promise, from a fellow Spiderman fan." He giggled nervously. "That is, if you like Spiderman...?"

A bang. He jumped. A shadow flickered by the door and smoothed over, moonlight calmly replacing shadow once more. Somebody was there. And that noise... it was like...

"H-Hey. Did you hear that? It sounded like a gunshot..." He trailed off. That kinda went without saying. "Should we check it out?"

Nobody around them seemed to be listening. They were all gathering around some commotion in the middle of the room, too busy to investigate the noise coming from outside.

Third Person POV

Andreja was punching him. Over and over again. Even now, the girl grinned, blood running down her lip. She clocked him in the jaw and threw her head back; her blood splattered across the fancy tiled floor.

"Get off! Stop it!" Adrik wailed. He stood over the two, waving and flapping his arms uselessly.

"What's going on here?" Head Detective Michon barked. He took a step into the light, and everything went silent. His eyes moved across the scene. The people surrounding the two on the floor. Adrik, frozen, standing over them. Even Andreja, panting over Laurence's bloodied face, didn't move. Her eyes just darted wildly from side to side.

"Well?" he demanded. "I don't have all day."
to be aesthetic or not to be aesthetic that is not a question because I am not aesthetic at all and nor is this signature
