Stage of PhantomsWelcome to Hope's Lounge! It's the ideal gig for a startup musician like yourself. They have challenges every Friday that you can take on regardless of skill level, a bunch of local patrons who are too tired from the bustling city life to complain if you screw up a solo, and free snacks for all the performers. The perfect place to pick up a few tricks and get your mistakes done and over with, because in a few years you plan to be out of this dump and onto new horizons. You can forget all about the other musicians and find your footing in the real world; a famous rock star, keeping your origins on the down low, and enjoying all the perks of fame. A real great place to start. You can be yourself, you can let down all your personas here, forget all the ways you present yourself at your day job. Maybe even make a few friends and learn the art of stage presence. But nothing lasts forever. And this particular Friday Challenge, you're going to find out what lurks in the dark corners of the lounge. You're going to be thrown into Encegow's secret underworld, fighting for your life alongside your bandmates. As the monsters that stalk your city's night start to pour out in droves, you're going to have to make a stand. You're going to have to decide if you love these people and this lounge, enough to save it. But are you willing to pay the ultimate price? While your own past in the city haunts you, urging you to run and never look back? This is the Stage of Phantoms. Monsters of shadow and monsters of memory will follow your every step. Good luck, little rock star. You'll need it. Form ![]() [b]Name:[/b]

Persephone O'Couna was sixteen years old when her life went to hell. And a decade later, sitting over a cliff with her legs dangling over the edge of a broken world, peering into smoldering streets and ashy-streaken skies, she dreamed of murder. One more chance. Let her try one more time, and she would make that person pay. From atop the hill, she could see into the filthy crevices of this post-apocalyptic world. Somebody shoved a shapeless figure into a wall, strangling them against the rotten brick, struggling to pin them with the wall sliding all around. Both the murderer and the victim were crying. She wouldn't cry. She'd wrap her hands around that person's throat and squeeze and squeeze until the light went out of their eyes. Deliciously, irrevocably dead, slumping to the ground. No breath. No pulse. Just the sweetness of one girl's world made a bit better. If they were dead, it wouldn't change anything, but hell would Persephone love to see them as broken as she was. Just a ragdoll, limp and shattered against the earth. She knew she'd love it. As much as she loved looking at this horrible broken world, seeing all those perfect lives torn to bits of scrap and tears. People had never looked so beautiful, blooded and streaked in ash, slumped against their little worldly treasures. Persephone never touched them. Those packs would remain beside their owners, the final homage to a worthless, wasted life. A work of art. She blinked, realising that the person was lying pathetically in the alleyway, hugging the other as they cried, unable to keep going, to kill whoever this person was to them. Once upon a time, she might've felt sorry. Being forced to kill someone, particularly someone worth crying over had to hurt, hm? But, really, stories were only good for as long as they were over. For as long as you could think and remember them and twist meaning out of something so meaningless. People were only beloved when they were stone cold dead. That was another thing the end of the world had taught her. That was also good. Great, even. Pulling out her notebook, she scribbled it down. Rule #52. Patting the bright pink plastic a final time, she slipped it back into her pack and stood up. Her eyes surveyed the horizon- and then she paused. The two in the alleyway were gone. Self-consciously she glanced back over her shoulder, almost expecting to see a murderer behind her. But nothing. In her own paranoia, she had taken her eyes off of the city before her, where the people, the enemy, really were. Common sense had saved her thus far. She should've trusted it. Something seized her by the hair and slammed her face first into the earth. She blacked out on impact. ... ... ... Where am I? Who am I? Coming to a start, the person sat up. Her whole body seized up and she clutched her head. A throbbing pain resounded throughout her skull, a thick, piercing echo. Wincing, she looked around for clues. But she was alone- all she had was a pack on her back, the straps too tight. Is that... mine? It looked like a kid's backpack. Somehow, the person doubted she was a kid. No, that didn't feel right... and kids didn't wake up on random trains. No, they had parents... Should have parents... Probably had parents? Hm. [Read more] |

Kubo AtsushiYeah, this really was just a three person job, but now he had to come up with something for Shi... "Besides monitoring the trial room? Not particularly. But if it comes to it, when we notice somebody who seems to target the person we have chosen as a 'killer', we need to have people available to hold that person down after the execution. And three people are more credible than one, if we have to kill them." Kubo frowned. "And... if we must, perhaps we can rig something, manipulate our target." His eyes narrowed. "That's why I'd want to pick Miko. He seems unstable enough, and if we're confident of who the mastermind is, perhaps we can arrange for our own little assassination. Defeat the mastermind, Hope's Peak Style." [Read more] |

27 Journalist --- Damn, these introductions were getting short. Shrink-flation was real, y'all, and it was coming for you. Shaking her head with a sigh, Kelsey pulled back, taking the opportunity to study those around her. Somehow, her eyes drifted back towards the girl with the long, chestnut hair. It was as if the girl was a star, gravity pulling her right in to her centre. Unnaturally yellow eyes, chestnut skin, and a warm smile that seemed almost... familiar. There was something about the long, lithe shape of her that made her seem as if she was about to break into dance, spinning underneath the palm trees, twirling patterns into the sand, throwing her arms back with a laugh... a bird about to take flight. She seemed so... alive. Kelsey subconsciously ran a hand through her own hair, and found that it had sand in it, which would be hell to get out. She certainly didn't look much more than half dead right now. She needed coffee, but would there really be any on a deserted island? Maybe she was just destined to die alone, asleep, and ugly since the beginning of time. "Okay, so let's finish up with these introductions quick." Kelsey shook her head. "We're going to need shelter, and if this island doesn't provide any of the artificial sort, we'll have to get creative. I hope nobody skipped out on their workshop classes, and can cut branches with nothing but my sharp wit." [Read more] |

Name: Louis O'Couna Title: Age (Ah, that, just put your rough estimate. I myself have seen thousands of moons rise.): 42 Gender/Sexuality: Male // He/Him // Omni Personality: A vampire who... doesn't really seem to be a vampire? If you go back in the records, he seems to check out, but no one's really sure who this guy is, he just randomly popped up and seems to have no knowledge whatsoever of vampire etiquette. He's just a little awkward, shy, and sometimes seema to feel more human than monster, to the extent where you question if he's a really bad vampire hunter playing the long game. Surprisingly, he's sort of smart in his own nerdy way, though with people he's an absolute dork. Just... try to be nice. He's kind of sensitive. And he reaally hates people who are mean to him. Appearance (Your gowns and suits shall be most stunning for this occasion.): Magic: (No, of course I don't mean immortality and those little fangs of yours. Some of us are lucky enough to be gifted with unique powers, eh?) Stories (Oh, I'm sure you must remember something through your moons.): Reputation (You must be known for something, eh?): Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Song: Other: Palpad: [Read more] |

"Shallow win, isn't it?" Persephone leaned in closer. "Listen up, little boy, because I'll only say this once." She met his eyes, tilting her head to the side, goopy sugary sweetness flooding her voice. "You don't get to quit. Only I decide when this is over. For as long as you're at my school, then you're going to listen to me." She grinned. "So chin up. You get to hang with me a little while longer." [Read more] |

You win. Persephone couldn't control her face for a second, but quickly yanked it back to a smug smirk, her mind awhirl with... what did he mean? Was he giving up? Saying that she could do whatever she liked, that he conceded, that she was right- No. No, he wasn't allowed to do that. "What the hell are you on about?" she asked, raising an eyebrow, and trying to ignore the sinking feeling in her gut. [Read more] |

A snowflake landed on the grass in front of him. He jumped with a yelp and his head darted from side to side, looking for his attacker, but- it was snow! It was snowing early! Was it? ![]() [Name: Persephone "Percy" O'Couna] [Age: 27] [Appearance: A tall, slim woman with very pale skin. She has a chin-length bob with curtain bangs. Her once-red hair is dyed an unnatural shade of black that looks at odds with her pale blue eyes and pasty colouring. Very lanky with sharp, jutting features and a perpetual frown. Often wears black lipstick.] [Personality: Though her constant teasing initially seeming playful, at her heart of hearts, Persephone is a bitter, spiteful person who will use underhanded tactics to take down those she hates, with any means necessary. She distrusts people on principle, and is always on watch for the inevitable knife in her back. Perhaps that's why, she tries to take people down first; at the first hint of weakness, she'll tear you to pieces, and have you thank her for the favour. There's little love to be found with her. She'd destroy herself if it means not letting her opponents win. And to her, who believes the whole world is her enemy, that can be very dangerous indeed. Ultimately, Persephone is very self destructive, and rarely happy with anything. Persephone is a hard worker, who pours her all into gaining position and strength. She is determined to be at the top, and will do everything in her power to ensure she remains there. Oddly enough, she doesn't sabotage anyone for her own gain, though for personal matters she'll rip someone apart for no reason whatsoever. Her philosophy is that hard work will always have you come out on top, therefore, why try anything else? In this way, she is rather naive and childish. Oddly enough, despite her bitterness and feeling as though everyone is against her, she's the optimistic type. She believes that with enough self sacrifice, everything will go her way. Her self-grandiosity, and feelings of superiority towards other people mean that she has too much faith in herself and her abilities, a flaw which may prove to be fatal. Persephone wants to distance herself from being "childish". She dresses up and she does "mature" makeup, and she refuses to trust anyone in case she might display any degree of naivety. She has a nervous response in which she chews her nails, which she has done everything to curb, even to the point of harming herself every time she does it. Yet it won't stop, and she hates it, because she will not be vulnerable. It doesn't matter if she's the only one who knows she's not in total control of herself. Her, or somebody else, any recognised flaw is a weakness. Ultimately, it comes down to this sense of control. Persephone wants to be powerful, wants to be the one everyone looks away from and avoids. Deep down, she feels as though she's holding tightly onto her core, keeping it in place... and if she lets up, even a bit, her whole being will be splattered across the pavement for the whole world to stare and whisper at. She will have her control, no matter what. No one will be allowed to touch her again.] [Stats: Strength 10, Dexterity 15, Constitution 15, Intelligence 19, Wisdom, 14, Luck ???] [Skills: Manipulation [Lv. 9], Sharpshooter [Lv. 8], Stealth [Lv. 7], Charisma [Lv. 6], Eidetic Memory [Lv. 10] [Backstory: Born into a wealthy, but distant family, Persephone had a rather isolated childhood, spending most of her time in the yard, playing with bugs and small animals. She was very emotional as a child, crying over ants that her mother stepped on. But the day that her parents died in a car crash, she didn't cry at all. She spent the next few years separated from her younger brother, juggled around by a variety of relatives. Eventually, she fell into the foster care system. Previously, she had been a quiet, obedient girl who excelled in school and appeared to have a bright future ahead of her. But when she went to her first foster home, she became rebellious and quick to anger, often getting into fights with others at school, where she was labelled a delinquent. Her grades plummeted and people began to avoid her. Eventually, she spent every lunch alone, except for her foster sister who refused to leave her side. Yet within a year, Persephone would sharpen a makeshift weapon and try to murder her. She would spend the next few years of her life in the system, working towards a college degree since she was in a program for minors angled towards rehabilitation. It was only a few months after she was let off that the Incursion began. Her time in prison, where she focused her attention on nothing but schooling and studying gave her a perfect memory that allows her the freedom to learn and memorize anything she pleases. Persephone never forgets a face. Remember that, should you cross her. Because, after all, though it's been over ten years since she last saw her foster sister Nadia, at the end of the world, she can focus on nothing else. She's going to kill her. And if anyone gets in the way of her revenge, she'll tear out their throat too.] [Innate Ability: ] [Character Trait: ] [Inventory] (1x) Pistol [A nice handy glock! Be careful to keep it hidden, or people might go running... or worse, suspect you're American.] (5x) Ration Packs [Tastes like cardboard. You'd probably get more nutrients out of eating a cereal box too. These never seem to fill you up.] (1x) Empty Water Bottle [Fill this up fast. Dehydration'll kill you quicker than anything.] (7x) Bullet Boxes [Better stock up on these. You never know what you'll need to shoot at the end of the world. A monster, a person, your own shadow...] (1x) Encyclopedia Brittanica [You've read this so many times, the old pages are worn right out. Pretty torturous to put yourself through, especially considering you memorized the contents of this old thing the first time around, but you've always been teetering on that lil masochism cliff. Fall off or throw yourself off, what do I care.] [Read more] |

Persephone continued, a note of pleasure in her voice. "Hm, not talking, huh? We're trying something new then for once. I didn't know you had it in you." She smiled. "Well, lightning can strike twice sometimes. Maybe you'll keep it up for the rest of the day." [Read more] |
