Cath looked at Sobble, debating how much to tell him. "The goal is to rid the planet of these foul loathsome evil little cockaroaches. We're working... solo on this one. But of course, first we need to lose or kill the demons following us." She emphasized the last part, trying to make it abundantly clear to the boy that it was not all fun and games.
Mei had been quiet since Cath had asked after her. She could tell that Nox was concerned too, but more preoccupied with Neo's smoking habit.
She tucked her pale hair over her shoulder, and adjusted her satchel and bow. Cerberus continued to pad along beside the group, sneaking menacing glances at Sobble's cat.
The professor trusted Nox enough not to question where they were going, but she was still curious. She silently followed the pair of demon hunters... well trio, really. Athena was skilled enough to be considered one of their number.

Nox quiets down again, glancing behind her for a moment to look at the others. They seemed to be following her without any trouble, but they also seemed to be lost in their own thoughts. Expect for the kid- Sobble was his name. "I'm a demon hunter" she responds. "What about you kid? How have you managed to survive for this long?"
Aster waves away Grimm's offer, deciding that it was far more entertaining to follow Belphi. He glances towards the scent of smoke and then glances back at Belphi with a confused look. His instincts demanded to charge towards the building, what was Belphi doing?
Aster shrugs and decides to follow Belphi without question. If it lead them further away then he could get the opportunity to scold the wiser demon. How fun!
Slowing his faster pace so that he can match Belphi's speed, Aster leans out to glance at Belphi. "What do you think they are planning oh great one?" Aster asks while chuckling. He tried to play it off, but deep down, he was truly curious. What did Belphi know?

But really, Mei was just thinking about this whole situation. She had been too careless, too weak. She spilled precious info that could've been valuable. Info that should've been locked in a vault for centuries to come. Mei was getting too comfortable, too emotional, too trusting. How could she let this happen? Mei never made true alliances, she always used people like tools, stabbing everyone in the back and filling their eyes with deception. She did this as naturally as it was to breathe, so why wasn't she doing it now? Was it because she had finally come to terms with the fact that there was nothing left anymore? The world was an apocalypse, one that would be miserable for her to live her life in. What was even the point of toying with people? What was the point of being here? Even if she ended it here, she'd go back to Hell anyways... Was there really no life for her to live? Was her only choice to melt like butter and become all friendly with these people, hoping for some happiness? Happiness that was slipping from her fingers? Even if she did... Her existence was still miserable, she would be suffering every. single. day. The life she lived before was gone, and the only remnants of it was that deafening voice filling her damn head and it. The "gift" that fate had so graciously given to her. Oh god... Was she becoming that one demon? Ugh... She should just forget about this depressing episode...
Mei snapped back to reality as soon as Nox asked the newcomer a question. She listened closely for his answer, pausing once he gave it.
"I'm not sure."
"...What?"
In an instant, Mei was right up in Sobble's face, her hand gripping the collar of his shirt tightly. She had lifted him into the air to meet her line of sight, and the words she spoke next were loaded with edge. I mean cutting straight through wood kind of edge. "What the f*** do you mean, you're not sure? Can't even answer a simple question, can you? God... How can you be so stupid? So mind-numbingly oblivious? You can't just roam around, acting like a complete idiot, saying that you don't even know how you survived a goddamn war?! And you still don't know why we're so damn suspicious?"

"Mei, put him down." Her voice was slightly muffled. "No. Not allowed." Cath continued to send her most piercing stare, hoping that she would let him go. "If you're angry or upset, try talking about it instead of abusing small children."
Her footsteps were quiet as she walked along the carpet forest floor. They continued to travel quickly.

A few moments passed where she simply glared at Sobble, thinking over what he and Cath said. Normally, the remark she gave would've made Mei act out even more, but she was right. She couldn't just do that to a kid, she had standards. Besides, she had to be careful. What if he was hiding something? What if he was actually able to fight?
A loud sigh, one that almost sounded like a groan, came from Mei as she nearly threw Sobble to the ground. She said nothing as she turned around and marched away from the group, not looking back as she faded into the sea of trees. It was pretty obvious that she hadn't completely left the group, as the sound of her footsteps abruptly stopped before actually fading away, but she wasn't exactly involved anymore. Even though Mei didn't want to go into that realm for a while, her anger and exhaustion got the best of her. She decided it was best to just follow behind the group undetected, moving through the ground below. She'd be able to rest a little, and she wouldn't be a nuisance to anyone. For a while, at least.

She froze, and looked behind her, an idea forming in her mind.
"Mei?" She whispered to the air.
She was offering a lifeline, if the woman wanted it. She had no problem with being pulled into the nothingness if Mei wanted to talk. No one else in the party could hear her.
