When The World Needs You - RP
Forum-Index → Roleplay → When The World Needs You - RPShe shot the arrows, two of them finding the necks of her targets, the third landing inches from Abyss. A warning shot. There was no poison powerful enough to kill demons; as long as the Night Witch Persephone was alive they couldn't die for good. Legend had it that a dragon's flame was the only thing that could kill demons, but the dragons had died out years ago. Her poison immobilized them for twenty four hours, dosing them with just enough pain to keep them asleep.
She calmly walked over to the convulsing Neo, a fourth arrow in hand. She would stab him if she needed to.
"Neo, are you in there?" There was an incoherent noise. "I want to talk to you."
She paused.
"Fine then, even Abyss. We can talk if you have anything to say to me. But I won't turn off the sound until one of you speaks."
Cerberus nosed her hip, and growled at Abyss on the floor. "Good boy. But he's a friend as well."

Woosh
That was the sound of an arrow flying, then another, then another. Cath had poison-dipped arrows, enough to knock them out for a while. "Geez, remind me to never make you ma-" Mei paused. The sound...
Something was wrong.
Her eyes widened as her muscles tensed up, she almost seemed... frozen, if not for her shaky arms slowly rising to her ears. Once her hand reached them, she clamped her fingers shut around the skin to try and block out the sound, but it was pointless. While it didn't affect her as much as it did everyone else, it was still extremely unpleasant. Mei felt so vulnerable, so weak. The screams in her head only got louder, and louder, and louder, and louder and louder and louder and louder and-
Quit being overdramatic, you're fine.
"Ha! What would I need to say, human? I signed a contract with your goody-two-shoes friend when he was about to die. Not much else to say."
Abyss started slowly getting up.
"We're bound together by contract. everything you do to me, he feels as well. He has my memories, and I have his. His subconscious affects my decisions, and vice versa. That's what a soul-binding contract is, after all."

Almost like an animated doll, Belphi was dragged upwards, loose-limbed as blank black sclera stared unseeing at what was before him. It was unsettling to see a demon of all things be puppeted so easily as he took a lazy look around. Blood poured sluggishly out of his ears as he watched despondently, body dragged over to where Aster had collapsed, kneeling down beside him. Belphi didn't seem too concerned with the other humans that were undoubtedly watching him as he checked on Aster. Unfortunately still alive, he concluded, letting his heavy eyelids flutter shut. Picking the other demon up and throwing him over his shoulder, Belphi turned to the other humans and gave them a very gracious approximation of a smile, all teeth and no cheer. "Sleep" The being suggested, much more awake than Belphi ever was as the power of such a simple word rippled throughout the base, the birds that had foolishly stayed behind outside in the woods falling victim to it. Satisfied with what had been done, the entity simply left without a single backward glance, feet never once touching the ground.
(her smile and eyes under the mask^)
She appeared to be the first one awake, her fifth version of her restorative innoculation seeming to work better than the last few, but the Professor wouldn't put it past Abyss or one of the others to be faking it. A quick nudge to Cerberus told her that at least the dog was indeed asleep. She walked in to the kitchen, bleary-eyed.
Going through the motions, she began to boil water for tea. She shredded the herbs she had grown and dried from her small, overgrown garden on the surface. Thoughts swirled through her head, but she pushed them away, relishing the monotony of the familiar process. Professor Kauri had believed deeply in the calming powers of tea.
The water boiled, and the smell of blood was slowly overpowered by peppermint and chamomile. The small rebuilt house in the ruins was completely compromised. She would have to pack up her labs and leave. There would be no base of operations for this mission now, only the places they could find to set up equipment.
A fuzzy goal: eliminate the threats in the resistance.
An even fuzzier goal: defeat the demons.
Caerthynna Elysium tried not to think about what was ahead. Her, Abyss and Athena at the very least would go. If they didn't kill each other first. Perhaps Nox and "Lilac" would join them. It was going to be... A long road.

Abyss had entered the room, yawning.
"I'm honestly impressed you woke up that quick. Musta been one of ya' fancy-schmancy machines, eh?"

She sighed, and looked out the window. A flock of Crows was flying overhead, a good omen.
"Abyss, I'm assuming that's who I'm speaking to, if you think I've given up, then your connection to Neo's memories must be faulty. I will never. And besides, the scientific challenge alone... I've thought of three different ways to tackle the problem, each with about a 10% rate of success. Rest assured your stay with Neo is only temporary."

Abyss smirked.
"Have you thought about... trying to kill me? That would most certainly remove me from this host."
Abyss took the cup of tea, sipping from it.
"Or... is that too extreme? I can say, with 67% certainty, that my host wouldn't die if you killed me and forced my to leave."

"Belphi!?" Aster shouts, bewildered. He struggles slightly, trying to stop the other demon from moving. They were far away, Aster wasn't even sure if the scents he were smelling in the distance was truly the group. "What's going on? Why are we retreating?" He growls. His agitated gaze turns into shock when the memory of what happened suddenly hit him like a truck. They were knocked out with absolutely no effort. It should be impossible, yet it had happened.
"Belphi, put me down!" He demands while smacking the back of the other demon's head. "We have to go back!" And then what? Aster ignores that thought, he was too angry to care.
Nox couldn't really remember much when she came to. She remembered Cath knocking the demons out, then stabbing them. She hoped that would be it, that they would be finished. But she wasn't a fool, she knew it would take more than that to kill them.
That's when one of the demon's- Belphi, she remembered Abyss calling him Belphi, commanded that they sleep. She had fallen, somehow managing to find a chair so she could slump down comfortably onto the table. She woke up to the sound of voices, which sounded far for a few moments, despite being close to her. She doesn't move, she just allows herself to wake up while listening to the voices. Cath, if she were smart, and she had proven multiple times that she were, was likely going to move. So what would happen to her? Would Cath risk bringing her?
"You raise an interesting point. I'll keep it mind. But what reason do you have to tell me the truth? What happens to Abyss when you leave this... Host?"
She didn't expect an answer, and walked out of the kitchen. Nox was awake, so she gave her a cup of tea. She liked the demon hunter, even if Neo didn't.
"How are you feeling?"

My current RP work:
The moment Aster hit Belphi's head, the demon stopped and glanced at him with those soulless eyes. "Oh good. You're up." It intoned before the body pitched forward like a marionette who's stings had been cut. Crumpling onto the ground, Belphi bounced off the ground almost like he was made out of rubber (which was objectively kind of funny actually) before rolling on the floor with a soft snore. Fast asleep, just like his name implied. Whoever, or whatever had been puppeting his body was no longer there.
Silence.
She was right, Mei was just being overdramatic. At the flick of a switch, it seemed like, she was fine. The screaming was gone, her body didn't feel like it was trying to break free of her skin. She had control, and she intended to keep it that way.
Well, until she fell asleep. Yup, just like that, she was asleep. Her body seemed to be locked in place, her hands still over her ears, but she was clearly asleep.
Physically, that is.
Mei's mind was a hell-hole of its own, filled with thoughts and ideas that no one would dare even come up with. Luckily, she was almost never tormented by it, she enjoyed it really. She never had that edgy "dark side" of her she hated, or split personalities. Nothing of the sort, she only had one mind and she was fully in control. She also made sure her power wouldn't interfere with her mind, she set up a thick barrier and kept their relationship as "buddies".
Mei only had one mind. One. She always made sure she was the same person through and through, she didn't care if she had a hard life or acted like she had 50 alternate personalities, Mei was Mei.
But this time, her mind had other plans. Even when she could've woken up, and she should've honestly, Mei couldn't.
I was wondering when you'd finally remember me...
I'm not going away that easy, Mei.

oh hey what's this
It took Nox a few seconds to realize that Cath had asked her a question. "I'm exhausted" she says with a light chuckle. "And confused... What happened? How did you stop the demons? And where did they go?" Nox knows that she should feel relieved that the two had fled rather than finish them off. Still, the unknown of where they were and what they were planning terrified her. But Nox was desperate to hide those fears. Her job was to slaughter demons, she shouldn't fear them... But those demons were different from the normal ones she that she is use to facing...
"What about you?" Nox asks, trying to banish her current train of thought. "I'm sorry you met so much trouble yesterday" Nox adds with a regretful smile. "We really aren't good company" she jokes.
A comical oof sound sounds as Aster suddenly crashes onto the ground. He slowly and shakily stands up. He growls at his sudden weakness and turns towards Belphi, he was about to chew him out for dropping him when he notices that Belphi wasn't moving.
Slowly, Aster approaches Belphi and checks his pulse, he relaxes when he realizes that Belphi was just sleeping, again. The timing was poor, but whatever was happening to him saved his arse, so he was willing to forgive Belphi for this.
So what now? Aster was no medical expert, and both him and Belphi would need help. Fortunately, help was close. Aster smiles, recognizing a scent close by. Grimm!
What a sorry sight he would be. His pride couldn't take anymore hits. But he swallows his pride and walks closer to the scent, but remains close to Belphi. "Grimm!" He shouts out. "Where are you?" He asks wearily.
*She would hear her name being called, looking for the source she would grapple herself up the cliff to Aster’s location, her large black ink claws melting back into her body* “What can I do for you?” *She would ask the smaller Demon*
