When The World Needs You - RP
Forum-Index → Roleplay → When The World Needs You - RP"Going back to my home in eternal oblivion is better than staying inside of this sentimental sap for any longer."
He sighed.
"His mind is always 'Cath, this, Athena, that.' God! It gets really annoying after a while, y'know? Not the ideal host for a great, powerful, but evil demon such as I."
wickedness?
Or is it
weakness?

Wow, crazy dream, eh? Totally shouldn't worry about that!
Ah, who was Mei kidding, she was still gasping for air and there were very visible marks on the side of her skull. Wow, what a way to be calm, cool, and collected Mei, great going there. Well, she could forget about that whole ordeal for now. After all, she had other matters to attend to. Time to interrupt a conversation, not like she cared though.
"You..."
Mei looked over at Cath, clearly annoyed, and got up to march over to her. She stabbed her pointer finger toward Cath's chest, close to her neck, but not close enough to make contact. "What the hell lady, that almost made me deaf! Yeah, thaaanks for getting rid of those demons, but that godforsaken noise was f***ing painful!" Mei was almost yelling at this point, but soon after her mini rant, she began to laugh hysterically. "Never thought that would work, you're one smart cookie!" She ended with a giggle, laying her hand on Cath's head and she ruffled her hair a bit. After that, she hopped back to her chair and began kicking her legs. Mei had moved her chair quite a bit when she stood up, so it was closer to a dark wall now. She was able to hide her face well enough so that the others wouldn't see it at first glance, which was good enough for now.
Her expression was completely different from what you would expect from someone who was kicking their legs playfully. It was emotionless, but a small bit of fear could be seen in her lavender eyes. She really didn't want to worry about it now, but her mind gave her no choice. It was consumed by the dream she had, it was all she could think about. Mei wasn't having fun anymore, she could no longer put up a good act. It would soon be noticeable among the group, so should she just leave? No, she could pull through long enough, even if they did notice something was terribly wrong with her, it wasn't like she had to explain it, right?

"Abyss, quit your muttering." She could hear the demon talking to himself again, and it was really getting old. "You're powerful, you're possessing our friend, blah, blah, blah. We've heard it all, so save your breath. If you don't like it, maybe give him back to us, and leave." She handed Athena a cup of tea.
"Now for what happened... let's talk some physics for a minute. Every material in the world has a natural resonance: an exact frequency that agitates the molecules inside the greater form. You may have seen a common trick where someone screams or sings and it breaks glass... this is very similar. On a microscopic scale at 1000% slower speed, the sound waves appear to be bending the material as if the sound wave was becoming part of it. Eventually, when the perfect resonance interacts with a material for long enough, the molecules attempt to pull apart. Glass shatters or cracks, wood splinters. There are very few materials that human voices can naturally do this with because we have such limited pitch. A 440 and whatnot. But with my inventions, I can harness natural frequencies to create a supersonic resonance force. After years of research, I found out the pitch that the demon brain resonates at. The sound pulse disrupts brain waves, and interacts with molecules of brain matter. Eventually, those vibrations create constructive interference at a microscopic level, causing the brain to vibrate into the skull. Hemorrhaging knocks the demons out, and they may or may not remember the last 24 hours they were awake. Unfortunately, demons have incredible healing capabilities, and I cannot do permanent damage. And as for the exact frequency, well I'm keeping that to myself for now."
She looked around at her companions, some of whom were pointedly disinterested in the science. She really didn't care what they thought; her statement was only so they wouldn't pester her about it in the future. Cerberus sat by her feet. She poured him a bowl of water, and he began to drink. Rummaging through the cabinets, she found a piece of chicken, and placed it on the floor next to him. She returned her attention to the group.
"We need to move, and I say 'we' lightly. Athena, Abyss, and I have a mission. You're welcome to join us if you want, so long as you're no trouble. But the demons will be back to this place. We've lost time by sleeping, but they will return, perhaps with friends. And they will want revenge."
N-30 rolled over to Cath, a backpack in his forklift. She rifled through it quickly. Medical supplies, technology, weapons, and the small interface storing every bit of research and spec she and the other professors had ever developed. Everything essential was there, including the button. She didn't want to push it, but the Cath would need to destroy this place to protect her secrets. It saddened her, but she could also feel the call of freedom.

Cath couldn't believe she was actually considering doing this. She wanted Abyss to be gone, but he still wore Neo's body. She glanced over at Athena. What would she think of killing Neo?
She stared at Abyss harshly, daring him to answer.

Demons. Couldn't even answer a certain question. Debating one was like trying to catch an eel. A slippery, slimy eel. No cohesive rhetoric, only distraction. But Cath had her eye on the goal. She dealt in science and facts, and she was going to make sure that that was what Abyss was going to give her.
She glanced at Athena. "I'm dealing with this impostor."

"Someone is going to need to keep you alive out there. It's not just those two demons... If it's just the two, that'll be bothersome. There are more 'normal' demons out there. I'll take care of them. I did promise to keep you alive, so long as you can work on saving the world" Nox tells Cath with a smile.
She frowns at Cath and Abyss. She too, didn't trust what Abyss was saying. Belphi was proof enough that demon's don't think twice about lying and deceiving. Maybe she was wrong, maybe Abyss would be a problem. What if he were working for his own kind? This whole Neo act could be a trick to make them lower their guards. Looks like I'll have to keep an eye on him
She turned back to Abyss and lowered her voice again. "I've heard rumors. All unsubstantiated, of course." Cath began to pace. "But that's just one instance. A powerful demon like you will have had many hosts. How many of them have survived after you left?"
