There was a certain type of anger that simmered under Elliot's skin that begged to be released and spat out in poisonous phrases, and it only bubbled up within him as Joy gently did her best to de-escalate the situation. Slowly he unclenched his fists, the meat of his palm stinging where blunt nails had dug into the pale skin. "Right..." Letting out a breath, he ran a hand down his face. Damn it, what was he thinking getting mad like that? "More importantly, are you okay? Was there anything urgent?" He inquired, his voice betraying his exhaustion as he peered at Joy who seemed to be slightly short of breath

"There is a situation more dire than mine to worry about." she said as she calmly approached them, peaking inside to see there was also a jester inside. Her curiosity piqued but she just dragged Noah from his ear, pulling him closer to where Elliot was standing. "Excuse me,jester,I will borrow him for a bit if you don't mind. I'll make sure to return him to you soon." she grinned. "Ahem," she snapped back to her usual self. "our father received a letter, threatening him. There's someone after the throne..." she whispered now that they were all close. "...which means they could be after us as well..." her voice on the brink of whimpering.

Conveniently or not, whichever it was, Tirik seemed to suddenly appear. Although, it was very clear he'd just walked around the corner. It was also very clear he wasn't expecting to see the collection of young Royals chatting with one another in this particular hallway. After a quick bow, the Mage spoke. "Forgive my intrusion and eavesdropping, I beg you, but with all due respect, I do believe you are under enough guard to be relatively out of harms way, unless this usurper happens to be particularly powerful in magical arts." After a moment, the Mage made a vague gesture and let out a tired sigh. From various places, the coins floated out in front of the Royals, slowly rotating between the face of the Prince or Princess, and the marred or mauled face of something else. "Do you know what these are?" Tirik nodded at the coins, barely stifling an exhausted yawn.

Noah just blinked. "Ok." He said, then walked back into his room. He was clearly feeling a bit numb today, likely because of the breakdown he had earlier. He sat down at his desk and started on the pile of papers. He hoped he would get through these as quickly as possible.

"Ugh! Why you...-" as soon as Joy prepared herself to smack Noah's head she spotted Tirik from the corner of her eye. She courtsied and leaned forwards, taking a closer look. "Ah!" she exclaimed "I have one too!" she said as she joyfully opened her coin purse to take out the coin she found on top of her tiara. "I haven't seen anything like these before and it even has my face. I don't recall our coins having that detail. Do you perhaps know what it is?" She asked as he kept examining the coin. She couldn't get her eyes off of it. Mostly because of the high detail on depicting her face and the weird creature on the other side.

Rubbing his temples, Elliot let out a sigh. He really couldn't blame Noah for just- leaving like that. In all honesty, he really wanted to do the same but his guilty conscience nagged him to stay put an attempt to be present in the conversation. "Unfortunately, my weakness lies within magical knowledge. So, uh, I'm not sure what these are." Taking one of the coins bearing his face, he turned it over to analyze it. His eyes flicked over to Noah and another sigh pulled itself from his lips. "Noah, I'll be taking that work back. Evidently, you aren't in any condition to work." He called, a wry smile attempting to tug itself over his lips

Noah shook his head. "I've already started. I'll see it all the way through." He replied. He discretely put one of his hands on the stack, just in case his brother attempted to pull it from him. He continued writing.

Being in town felt desolate, compared to the days before. The royals had likely retreated to plan what they’ll do, due to the threats. At least that’s what Quill guessed. Now she was waiting to see if they were okay, or if they were vulnerable, or if there was any up-side to silencing them... She sighed against a mask, hood hanging over one eye. Pushing one shoulder back to stretch her back, she patted her side to feel her pocket knife. She took a seat and watched the town.

Business was slow; which was troubling. Avery’s horses seemed to tick between restless and resting like a ticking metronome. Eyes on the ground and one hand on one of his dear friends’ heads, his eyebrows lowered in thought. He scratched the side of his head, grey-brown flakes of hair dropping to the floor. He looked away.

Marigold was in the garden, as usual. She’d stayed here more than usual, urging her family to stay too. Her arms and legs were also covered in grazes and bruises, presumably from growing flowers, which looked brighter and crispier than they otherwise would. Her eyes were on a crimson tulip, slowly emerging from its comfortable bud. Colour dripped from the green cocoon as petals sprouted like blood from a wound. Namely, her wound. She fell back and saw a small cut on her arm, which she smeared away as she stood up.

William had gone off to his room after waving goodbye to Marigold. In his hand he held a ball of light, it was a small bit of magic. Through assistance with royal mages he managed to set up a system to watch different members of the family. He peered in and watched Noah doing paperwork. A smile appeared on his face as he watched. With his punishment earlier, he wasn’t trying to be cruel. If he was going to be honest, it really hurt him to do that to Noah, but he had to condition him. Noah is the heir to the throne after all.

Tirik glanced back at Noah in his room, then noticed the jester sitting there as well. With a polite smile and wave, he acknowledged their presence. Then, he turned back to Elliot and Joy. "These are Summoning Relics, in this case a decorated coin. As long as one side of the coin bears your face, a spirit of great power stored within will protect you if there arises a threat to you. The preferred appearance of the spirits are printed on the opposite side of the coin. They can also be released on a command, if you're seeking a little extra knowledge about either the past or..." The Mage trailed off, glancing at the stack of work that Noah had collected. "Whether or not to commit to something. Like a deal with another kingdom. If I may, I could release these spirits and teach you the commands to summon them." A tired smile was on Tirik's face, and it was somewhat clear he enjoyed this, this explaining and teaching his magic to someone else.

"I don't have any objection to that." she nodded in agreement. "I must admit the attention to detail is incredible." she added. She was utterly surprised Noah made that decsion even when Elliot offered to take back the paperwork. Maybe Noah's actually trying to improve and become better suited to rule the kindgom. She asked the two brothers if they wanted to do have their guardian spirits unlocked as well but as she turned her head she noticed Ava. "Ah,the one who tumbles. Helo there." she smiled. "I didn't see you before,I really had to inform my brother and I was in a hurry, excuse me."

It slightly impressed him that Noah was refusing him and the little seed of doubt that had been slowly growing within him was quickly snuffed out. If he was so confident that he could finish the work then he'd let him and cheer him on privatly. I'm going to need a drink after today he thought slightly ruefully as he absentmindedly flicked the coin out of habit. Perhaps it was the building stress or it was the sheer wildness of today, but Elliot had the inexplicable need to simply sit down swathed in blankets and gingerly sip on mead. Drawing himself out of the brief daydream, Elliot cleared his throat slightly and nodded politely to Noah and Ava. "If you don't mind, then we'll be in your care." He said smoothly, inclining his head.

Tirik nodded, then held up his hand in a simple symbol, the tips of his thumb and middle finger touching, while the rest of his fingers remained straight. "It's as simple as a sign, this sign, and a word. Dimittas." As soon as the two were combined, the coins started to feel alive, as if they had suddenly grown lungs and a heart. After a moment, the room's aura shifted, and a pair of Guardians slowly became visible, both of them flowing like liquid from their coin.

Joy nodded, repeating Tirik's movements. She was a very big fan of magic, even though she could not comprehend how it worked. That didn't stop her from getting fascinated by every magic trick she saw. Sure sometimes she thought too much about it to the point magic scared her,but she is still amazed by it to date. "It seems rather simple. I'll try my best not to forget." she remarked

Mimicking the motion, Elliot rolled the command over his tongue slightly oblivious to the guardian which spilled forth from the coin. A searing warmth nearly made him drop the coin but before it could hit the ground, a pair of chains burst forth. A cut off yelp was all that escaped his mouth before darkness swallowed him whole, Elliot's arms instinctively coming up to protect his face. The soft brush of feathers over his body had him opening eyes he had unintentionally squeezed shut, daring to take a peek at whatever had been summoned. A single burning ball of flame, glowing a hollow blue from the heat, stared back at him encased in yellowed bone.

He absolutely didn't scream but he did make an embarrassing sound in the back of his throat as black wings unfurled before his eyes. Towering over him was a hauntingly entrancing raven, its skull devoid of any feathers of flesh yet the cracked skull inspired a sense of safety and power. Wordlessly gaping at the large creature, Elliot suddenly realized that the guardian took up most of the hallways space, its wings tucked uncomfortably but its side as rolls of rusted chains bound its body. "Uh... Tirik? How... do I unsummon it?" He asked with a nervous chuckle

"It's the same thing to dismiss it. However, I'd recommend taking it around the castle while it's out so it can memorize the layout." Tirik was obviously amused by the boy's reaction, his tired smile coming alive a little bit. "Besides, intimidation is a positive factor in a Guardian. Get used to the presence of it, just so that it won't frighten you if it detects a threat of any kind."

Joy accidentally let out a small distressed screech as she witnessed Elliot's guardian. She covered her mouth from embarassment. "Why's yours so much more intimidating than mine? Mine doesn't seem to have some of form,it's just there but I guess once I get more familiar with it,it will become stronger!...I suppose." she turned to Tirik. "Thank you for your assistance. I assume in order for you to take such actions, you're aware of the threat." she sighed.

Tirik nodded, grimacing. "Painfully aware of it, yes. And, as my service is to your family, I'm operating as both a Mage to assist with jobs and duties throughout, and as a guard to both the castle and the Royal Family." Another tired smile, another stifled yawn. Straightening his back a little, Tirik bowed his head and placed a fist over his chest in a salute to the Royals. "If I might be excused, I need to tend to a few more things."

Ava, although flinching at first, looked more star struck at the sight of Elliot's guardian and ran over to the doorframe. "THAT IS SO COOL! So that's what that coin thing is about?" They glanced towards the one that remained floating in Noah's room, pointing at it "He's got one too!" They turned their head to look back at the raven but stopped midway, the gears shifting in their brain almost visibly. They looked back at Noah and lowered their arm. This was an all too familiar sight for Ava, 'it's exactly like him', which was a little scary. They slightly dropped their head and furrowed their brows, looking at the floor for a minute before finally setting their eyes at the Princess. "Anyway, what kind of threat is this all for?" Except for a smile, their excitable demeanor was almost entirely gone by now.
