Kingdom of Aeraya
Forum-Index → Roleplay → Kingdom of Aeraya"Prepare for a few late nights. We'll have to keep an eye on the streets. Maybe our mysterious friend has other mysterious friends he or she is talking to?" Scarlet asks. "I mean certainly our friend won't be pulling this off on their own? Maybe we'll get lucky and overhear or find something" she sighs. "It's a stretch, but our hands are kind of tied until we have a lead." Ace shakes his head.
"That sounds fine by me. Let's alert the others and rest. We're going to need it" Ace says.
"Well, somebody is back from the dead. Where was this Ace this morning?" Scarlet asks in amusement. Of course, this is a rhetorical question. As per usual, she is already walking away.
Walking through the castle halls, Elliot could feel the ominous atmosphere crush him into the stone pathway with each step he took. Something large had happened and Elliot didn't know what to think of it. He hated being out of the loop but considering that he spent most of his time locked inside the library working, it was a common occurrence for events to arrive and pass without his knowledge. That did not ease the pinpricks of unease that crawled along his skin with every look he was given by the guards, their whispers haunting him. Still, he strode on as if he hadn't heard or noticed anything, letting the castle staff naively believe that the second prince was still in the dark about the event.
Elliot walked with a vague direction in mind, searching out either one of his parents. He clutched in his hands his own personal research, detailing a few loose ends that should probably be overviewed. It wasn't anything major, just his own personal suggestions, but if executed Elliot had faith that his suggestion would help the Kingdom grow and flourish. Turning a corner, he caught a glimpse of his father's regal back and telltale cape and opened his mouth to call out to him before pausing. He seemed to be deep in conversation with someone else who he could identify as Trilk. Their expressions were grave and Elliot bit his lip, feeling as if he was intruding upon a conversation that he wasn't meant to see.
Taking a few steps back, Elliot hid behind a corner, waiting for the conversation to end. Though if he strained his ears, he could catch small snippets of conversation. But he didn't. Definitely didn't. He was a prince and royalty didn't do something as unsightly as eavesdropping. So he definitely didn't eavesdrop, he ah, just so happened to overhear a passing conversation. That was all.
Tch, caught. And so early too. Unfortunate, but he supposed that was what he got for partaking in the one morally questionable act of his relatively short life against his own family. "The walls have ears, Captain," Elliot replied in lieu of a response. "Better it be the ears of a friend than a foe." The papers in his hands crinkled under his clenched hand but it was soon smoothed back out as he leaned more casually against the wall. "Besides, I can barely hear them from here." Crossing his arms, Elliot let his hand dangle down to dangle over the handle of his sword, fingers rubbing over the worn handguard. The familiar action slowed down his racing heart and he let out a breath.
Damn it, he really hated being confronted by others. It wasn't like he had to be right every single time, he knew that he was wrong on multiple occasions. But often they were simple blunders, oversights, and things that Elliot hadn't caught. This though. This had been a conscious decision on his part and he had been caught so easily. It left a bitter feeling in his mouth and his stomach churning. Ugh, he never should have tried to eavesdrop.
