Rui En’s brows are raised so high they disappear past her fringe. “We’ve been in the same House for four years, Trix. I know what a fake laugh sounds like.” But she doesn’t push any further; instead falling silent for a bit and stirring her soup. Maybe Trixie would tell her sometime. Just not now. Rui En strokes the snake on her shoulder, stares at the glistening oil bubbles in the soup, pushing it around, fidgeting here and there before looking back up at Trixie, slightly concerned yet keeping her face as neutral as possible. She thinks hard of a good topic to distract them, before asking “Think we’re going to learn anything ridiculous like last year? Or learn anything at all?”

Trixie stared at Rui En for a good few moments.

"You know, I really like this place. But... how pretty would it be to watch it burn to the ground?"

She giggled.

"Wouldn't it be great? Rui en, Rui En, how long would it take, do you think, to immobilize every student and teacher here? I mean, just a bit of poison in the food supply, or the water, and everyone's gone. Do you know how masquerade did it?"

“Burn to the ground…like fire? Trix, why would you burn down something you like?” Rui En replies, her voice carrying a hint of confusion. If she could raise her brows any higher, she would. “You’re asking a lot of funny questions, Trix. And besides, why would anyone want to poison such delicious food? But if you’re asking…I suppose it depends. On what kind, from what source. It’d also be rather difficult, all these enchantments and teachers. You aren’t thinking of that, right?” A thoughtful moment of silence, before she spoke “Very difficult. The poison would have to be unnoticeable. No magic signature, no scent, no color, no flavor”

"Aw, thanks. You're so helpful, Rui En. You know? I was justm.. interested. Yknow? It'd be so pretty."

Trixie giggled.

"Man, summer was so fun. How was yours?"

Snapped back to normal, like an elastic band, Trixie smiled up at Rui En.

It took Nyx a few moments to realize the feast had began, her mind racing with ideas for the year. Once she notices the feast beginning, she smiles to herself. This was a favorite time for her, it’s always fun to guess and speculate who is going to die this year and in what way. Honestly, she could hardly wait for the year to begin. Summer had bored her, it’s here where everything was fun.

“Pretty…? Yeah, maybe” A short pause, as Trixie asked about her summer. “You’ve asked that already, Trix. But anyway, I have plenty more to share. Apart from not dying, and travelling the world, I’ve actually spent a fair bit of time practicing my magic. Accidentally killed my tomato plant, but oh well, you never improve without a couple mistakes”

“What did you do over the summer, hmm? What fun things have you been indulging in?”

Lukas suddenly stood up, pale fingers running through pink hair, anxiously. He ignored the eyes, mouth set in a tight line. His gaze swept across the room for a moment.

Then he proceeded to just... walk away. Out of the grand hall. Which was noticeable as all hell. Because. Literally only Lukas did that. Nobody else even stood up.
"I did? Huh. I don't remember that."

Trixie just smiled brightly.

"What I did over the summer...? I don't remember? I met my brother... And hung out with friends... and then... Nope! Don't remember!"

“You don’t remember? Trix, summer was barely a week ago” Rui En laughs a little “Sure you don’t remember, hmm?” She teases, tossing her hair behind her “Well then, Trix. What do you plan to do this term? Any special skill you’d like to practice, learn anything new, hmm.”

“We have an entire year ahead of us. Can’t go wasting it, can we? Me personally, I’d like to develop more potent poison using Sparkle’s venom here. What about you?”

"I'm love to figure out some more.. complex magic. Get my hands on some papers."

Trixie hummed , quietly tying her hair into a ponytail.

"I've been feeling studious."

“You? Studious? Trix, you’ve always been less of a book person, yet incredibly clever and capable nonetheless. You sure we have the same definition?” Rui En teased lightly

“Complex magic, eh? What magical mystical papers must you get hold of that can’t be found from the library? You must be up to great things again, my brilliant Trix”

"What can I say? A little trip to the Magic Tower really made me rethink my 'not-a-book-person' thing. I mean, what if I'm in a situation where I need something other than simple transformation?"

A blink brought forth the eldritch horror that was blonde, twintails Trixie. Her red eyes had shifted to Blue. She smiled.

"I mean, I know it's cool, but it isn't... foolproof. And I happen to be a fool."

“I’m sure your magic is far more advanced than just simple, Trix. I don’t think anyone has transformation magic apart from a couple.” Rui En barely blinks at the eldritch horror lookalike, having seen it in the past school year. Sure, a little surprising, but not unexpected from who she deemed a shapeshifter.

“Sooo…whatcha planning to add to your already massive arsenal of magic, hmm? What kind of complex spell?” She grins “Don’t go hoarding all the magic, Trix. Leave some potential and…uh…wow factor for us. Can’t have you being top of the school now, can we? That’s probably the Siren House’s prefect job, anyway.” She adds jokingly

"A fool? Who dares to call the Prefect of Quetzalcoatl a fool?"

A gentle hand landed on Trixie's shoulder with a pat.

Behind her stood a tall handsome gentleman whose beauty seems to blind the room temporarily. The soft platinum blond hair seems to ray of sunshine while it's molten gold eyes looked like actually smelted metal.

Ayran gave a nod towards Rui En politely with a soft smile.

"Sorry to interrupt ladies. But I couldn't possibly stand hearing such disrespect about my prefect being called a fool."

Ayran interjected with a chuckle.

It was hard to believe such a man was the Vice-Prefect of the Quetzalcoatls.

Quetzalcoatl, the house of cunning snakes and havoc.

It seemed impossible that this man would ever possibly belong to this house.

"Pff. Maybe ten years ago. It's the year of the quetzals!"

She pumped her fist cheerfully, giggling to herself.

She jumped at the touch on her shoulder. She turned to look at Ayran, face perfectly blank for a moment, before it lit up with a blush.

"Ayran. Hi."

She breathed out, smiling a little more sheepishly now.

"When's Lydia coming, Kendo?"

The pink haired professor quietly inquired.

"..."

Professor Satou sat in his seat, staring at the Quetzalcoatl table, at Trixie Thatcher. His cousin. A girl who couldn't be any more different from her.

"Kendo."

Artemis Wright reached out, rapping his knuckles against Kendo's forehead. Kendo turned to his friend, blinking out of his daze.

"Huh?"

He tilted his head slightly, blinking.

Emma spoke again.

"Where's Lydia?"

Kendo paused, then shook his head.

"She's on her way with Evan."

His gaze broke from Trixie.

Emma frowned slightly, following his gaze, landing on Trixie, now approached by Ayran.

"I'm sure she's fine, Kendo. It's not like you two talk anymore, anyways."

Kendo's gaze fell to his hands, then to his drink. He grabbed his glass, downing it.

"...Yeah. I guess."

"Long time no see Trixie"

Ayran smiled, a hand reaching up and caressing her cheek lightly before pulling away as if it were completely natural.

"It seems as if you've gotten prettier during break? Or is it just my eyes messing with my since my heart misses you so much?"

Ayran teased lightly as he created some distances between them as he took a step back with his hands behind his back looking all proper. It was what he always did, retreating before anything could actually be established.

Trixie smiled a bit wider at that, already red cheeks going a bit redder.

"I- M-maybe? I- um. Hehe..."

She giggled nervously, hand on her cheek. She shook her head.

"Don't try to charm me again, silly."

She laughed quietly.

He wrung his hands nervously at that statement, Ldeya so sure in her assessment of him that it wasn't even a question as to what Song BingLiu had been doing over the break. She really was amazing, pinpointing everything about someone with just one glance. Despite this though, Song BingLiu definitely hadn't mastered this new trick or anything, the amount of precision needed to take it from a parlor trick to something actually usable was extensive and definitely out of his current skill range (what he neglects to remember, sometimes, is that the skill needed to even do it no matter how well was already beyond many students' abilities). He also really wanted Professor Wright to be the first one he showed his new trick to but being the vice prefect and his friend, Song BingLiu supposed he could make an exception for her.

Glancing around as if fearing that someone would look over his shoulder and force him to stop, Song BingLiu took a deep breath, squeezed his eyes shut, before bringing his hands together in a thunderous clap that never resounded. Instead, what filled Ldeya's ears was her own crooning voice, muffling the sounds of conversation around her for just one second as she whispered to herself: "Just a little trick."

It wasn't perfect, voice just a touch higher and softer than what it would be, the intricate inflection of her words off-putting if it wasn't so jarring to hear ones own voice talking to them. The syllables themselves seemed quite distinct from each other, leading to a less than natural flow of sound, but it was undeniably amazing that over the break, Song BingLiu had managed to figure out how to speak, without once opening his own mouth with only a nervous smile to show for it.

Someone said something about poison.

She didn't know who said it, but her ears picked up the word nonetheless and she began inspecting the food even more closely than she had before. There was so much snake-like chatter that she couldn't help but to appreciate that no one had bothered to talk with her yet. She wouldn't be able to keep herself from saying something nasty in response.

Someone left, piping her interest. Did that mean she could leave now? Probably not. She'd still have to wait. She made an effort to get into this place, and she'd have to keep making an effort to stay.

Elona listened intently to the conversation between the three professors with mild interest, distracting her from her previous task of staring at the table. She was out of her seat and next to Kendo and the others swiftly, bowing her head to show her respect before speaking. "Pardon my bluntness, but I overheard your conversation from my seat. It seems like there's something troubling you, Professor Satou."

"Something troubling me?"

His gaze flickered up to Elona.

"Elona Avery. I suppose there is. But it's a private... Matter..."

He paused.

His gaze suddenly landed straight on Song BingLiu.

He got up, out of his seat.

"Pardon me."
