This was too much. The flood gates broke. And it all came pouring out, in one massive swirling burst. The memories mixed together to form one single image. The face of the killer. That dark mark, hiding the identity of that coward. "NOOOOOOO!!!!" The scream pierced the air. But then, suddenly, it was all gone. Her vision returned. The darkness vanished. Suddenly reality rushed back in.

Realizing that she was leaning on Neo, she pushed him away and staggered, struggling to regain her balance. Blinking the light spots out of her eyes, she took a deep calming breath, completely pushing away the memories. She had to stop doing that. Had to control them, not the other way around. If something like this happened in battle, she would be vulnerable and useless, dragging her friends down. And she was already vulnerable and useless, if she couldn't kill, what was the point of fighting? If she could only make a few scratches and have Neo or Cath help her do the rest, there was really no excuse for her joining them. She wasn't worthy of friends like them.

"I'm fine. Just... Shaken. And surprised." Suddenly, she realized who she was talking to. Neo... But wait... That wasn't true was it? But Neo, Neo was standing right in front of her! It worked! He was back! But then she was immediately seized by guilt. She hadn't done anything except stared and then had a panic attack. What kind of friend was she!? "I missed you so much! And I'm so so sorry... Can you ever forgive me?"

"I..." Athena couldn't believe he was letting it go so easily. Like it was all a joke, a game. But she could sort all that out later, he was right, what mattered right now was that Neo was back! "I still can't believe you're back!"

"So you're one with the shadows. And when the resonance pulse went off, you were affected. Or were the shadows affected? Is the shadows a demon? Or is the resonance frequency of the shadows close to that of a demon's brain?" This was getting interesting.

"I literally have no idea why I'm here though," she said. "I have never met or even heard of the existence of this 'supernatural, all-powerful being' who controls an alternate realm of reality..."

She reached out a hand, touching the strange mist surrounding her. "Hello?"

She could still barely see Neo and Athena, they appeared to be looking for something. Her?

Cath had just disappeared into thin air. Not again! It was bad enough Neo had disappeared, now Cath, in her own home! There were no clues as to where she'd gone, no signs of a struggle. Everything seemed just as they had left it.

Neo looked around, as his eyes glowed a light blue. He looked around, until he finally noticed Cath, somehow, even though she was in the shadowrealm..

"Found 'ya."

He reached through the veil and grabbed her arm.

"How did you..." She really shouldn't be surprised, she knew Neo had a lot up his sleeve. Of course, most people would already have figured that out in the first few seconds after meeting him.

Alright, this was getting out of hand. Neo had just casually reached in and grabbed Cath, when he normally wasn't even supposed to see them. Mei couldn't let this get out of hand, she knew the extensive effects of being in here, even for a few seconds. Cath needed to get out soon, who knows if she was being affected...

Mei dismissed Neo and Athena for now and hoped she could answer these questions before anything else happened. Mei was so glad that sound couldn't travel outside of the realm unless she allowed it, she really didn't want these guys involved. "Like I said, it's complicated. It basically lives in my head, which means I share everything with it. When you set off those damn sirens, both it and I was affected." She lightly rubbed the side of her neck, watching the two behind her and Cath carefully. "And well... If I shared my body with a demon, like your friend here, why would I say I 'escaped' from Hell?" She gave a slight chuckle, then continued. "No, I wouldn't say it's a demon per se, but..." Mei paused, trying to figure out what to say next. "I don't really know what it's classified as, and I never really bothered to find out... But what I do know is that your little trick did something completely unexpected, nothing was supposed to affect this place, or whatever's in my head, at all... Not to mention the fact that it didn't seem as potent, like how it was to the two, or rather three, demons..." Mei pondered for a bit, but decided that she shouldn't say anymore. She wasn't all that surprised by the fact Cath knew nothing about this, it's not like anyone did. At least, no one from the past few centuries anyways.

Upon Cath's call out to the void, the void finally answered. It had been ~~somewhat~~ quiet the entire time they had been talking, but now it finally decided to "speak". A short, resonating mix of muffled sounds, almost resembling human speech, called back to her. It sounded like the echoing, almost 2 toned call one would hear in a foggy forest where a horror movie took place in. Recently, Mei noticed that it actually tried to talk to her in English, and not just whispy breaths that only she could understand. They shared the same thoughts after all, which translated somehow.

The darkness called back to Cath, in words that were supposed to mimic hers.

"Hello?"

Oh no... This couldn't be good... Mei was still unsure if this realm had good intentions for Cath, but the mimicry was not a good sign.

Cath swatted Neo's hand away, and turned back to the shadows. "Give me a minute, I'll be right back." He couldn't follow her completely into this realm. It seemed that no one could enter here but Mei. And now Cath?

She wondered if Abyss had been able to enter the shadows and this was a residual power deposit from his inhabitance. if Abyss had hypothetically inhabited Neo for three years, it was stupidity to think her friend had emerged unscathed. Neo's eyes had always been special; the Professor was unsurprised that he could see her in this realm. She hoped he wouldn't try to pull her out again; the walls didn't seem to want to readmit her to her normal plane of existence. Very strange.

She finally put her finger on what had been bothering her: Mei's habits and tendencies were of someone old. As in, not from this century old. How long had she been in Hell? Cath thought back to the demon attack. Aster and Belphi had been following Mei... did they want her to return to their accursed dimension?

"Hello?"
Cath was snapped out of her thoughts. She could hear a voice, mimicking her, and turned to Mei, surprised. Her companion hadn't spoke. "Was that... the shadows? Hello?" She called again.

Was there something alive in here? An extended consciousness, perhaps? And what did it want with her?

It was never meant to be.

It had gotten noticably quieter within the next room. This must be her cue. Nox slowly strides in, looking visibly confused to see that Cath was gone. She also noticed that Mei was absent too. Hmph, this is what I get when I don't pay attention.

Her eyes scan the room and fixate on Abyss- no, was it Neo now? She felt a dark sense of relief to see that he was back. For one, she wouldn't have to worry about fighting him in the future and two... Well, she hated to admit that it was nice to see a familiar face. "Nice to have you back" she tells Neo dismissively, turning away to hide the visible relief that was hiding within her eyes.

Aster winces at the thought of having his leg amputated. How else was he going to hunt his prey? "Thank you" he says while inspecting his bandaged leg. "Now, what should we do about Belphi?" Aster asks while walking back over to the other sleeping demon. Even Aster knew better than to wake the sleeping demon. No thanks, he did value his life a little bit. "Any ideas on how we should wake him? We have some prey to hunt. No way will I let him get away that easily!"

"Heh, that's the Neo that I remember" Nox says with a soft smile. She doesn't bother fighting her grin when she turns back to face him. He had a way of making his happiness contagious. It was something she didn't realize she missed until now. "It's Nox now" she replies, a flicker of sadness hits her eyes, but she manages to blink it away. "Are you two ready to leave?" Nox asks while leaning against the wall.
