"Ugh, fine. All right." Syd sighs, heading over to sit by Cass, who flinches back slightly, as if startled, when they touch. Syd sends her a questioning look, but she waves it off impatiently. "Right, movie time!" Mals says, settling on the other side of Cass, remote in hand. He flicks on the tv and Cloverfield starts right away.

Ash hums before making her way up to her room. She shut and locked the door behind her just in case anyone attempted to come force her out.

The whole movie passes without a hitch from the three friends. Cass seems as emotionless as ever, although she does glance over at Mals when he's startled a bit by the monster lunging at the camera. Syd seems slightly freaked out, especially whenever the monster is on screen, but other than that she's fine. When it's over, Cass turns off the tv, looks outside into the dark sky for a moment, then stands without a word and goes upstairs. Syd stretches, and says a brief "good movie, I guess I enjoyed it" to Mals before doing the same. The latter doesn't move, staring off at nothing silently, his face calm and thoughtful.

Mals's gaze slides towards her. "Oh?" He says. "Rewatch a lot, I suppose? You seem like the type." A hint of a smile tugs at his lips. "You know, I hope you enjoy your time here. Even through everything." He leaves the words unspoken, for now. Only he really needs to know that this point in time. Eventually, he'll tell, he always does, but it'll be a while before he's in a position where he'll have to do so.

Ash hummed as her finger repeatedly tapped against one of the keys on her laptop. "Should I make Nyx die in the roleplay or not." She mumbles to herself before huffing. "I mean I'll bring her back so eh." She jumped slightly as pandora switched songs on her. Her head started to bounce up and down before she started singing. "Climbing out the back door, didn't leave a mark. No one knows it's you, Miss Jackson."

"That's good. I hope that doesn't change." Mals replies. How much longer until it does? A voice inside him whispers. What can you really count on at this point, Maeline? Will everything turn out all right in the end? It always seems to, but maybe it won't. This time, maybe you'll be the one with a knife through your chest, not Tallui. He pushes the voice out of him mind after a few seconds. The same whining and taunting. Can't his brain think of something better?

Mals blinks, and glances back at Riley, his gaze having slid away to stare off at nothing. It could be a trick of the light, but his mismatched eyes seem to flicker white for a moment, just a fraction of a second. Then it's gone like it was never there. "Yeah, sorry. Must be tired or something." Lie. The voice whispers. 'Oh shut up.' Mals thinks to himself.

"Goodnight Mals!" Rylie called, going up the stairs into her room. She looked at the GBA still on her bed, and decided she wouldn't pull an all-nighter tonight. It was different now. So, she changed quickly and flopped into bed, pulling the covers around her.

The morning bloomed as beautiful one, all soft sunlight and birds chirping. Syd, however, broke the spell almost as soon as she came downstairs. "I can't believe you two." She says, her voice slightly loud in her anger. Mals and Cass were sitting on the couch, the former looking tired and defeated, the latter looking vaguely thoughtful. The rubik's cube, now solved, is on the coffee table. "After everything we've done, you're going back to them? Because of a cryptic message in an even more mysterious box? I never thought you were so idiotic."
