Time to Light it Up...
Forum-Index → Roleplay → RP Sign-up → Time to Light it Up...The scowl got worse and was visible on her face and she fastened her loose hand into a scrunched up, claw-like shape before whipping her head around and glaring at the wolf-thing, "Don't you dare repeat that to me." she growled back viciously, "I will continue to look for her myself, thank you very much." she replied curtly. All her emotions of fear were replaced by a sudden fit of rage. If this woman was dead, it was her fault. Her fault for not being able to calm her down and get out of this hell earlier. Too many people had died and the idea of another being added to the continued list in Brunhilde's mind was too much. Even if she hadn't known her, this woman lived a life, hell, she could have had a family, surely she couldn't have had such a horrible end to her life?
She turned back to Ghembo and growled in response, "We share ideals. Your pride come first, so do human survivors for me. What I find unrighteous is that you were hunting us." before she could dare to look at these creatures' vicious reactions, she immediately hissed, "I'm not looking for a fight. But you've got no chance in hell that I'm gonna whimper like a beaten dog to your whims and wants." she flexed her arm at her side in an odd position, readying a knife if it had to be used as a last resort, "You are hesitant to continue your speech." she observed through her narrowed eyes, "If you have an answer, speak of it. I didn't come here to die and neither did you lot."
(Also, I know Brunhilde might come off as a bit too aggressive and mean-spirited, but right now I adore her character! xD)
Ghembo
Ghembo could sense the rage roiling off the human and felt it infect his own spirit. He lashed his tail and bared his teeth. He gave a powerful roar that rebounded in the cave, the sound blocked from the outside by the wall of darkness. This human... while he was attracted by her bold personality and bravery, she was just being difficult at this point. "Look," he snarled, shoving his face into hers and showing his glimmering fangs. "I don't understand you, you don't understand me, and if it weren't for," Ghembo paused, barely cutting off an insult, "...Bane, over here, you would be dead, you hear me? My pack would have devoured you whole and attack your settlements." He took a step forward, his muscles taut and his hackles raised with aggression. "As long as you stay here, you will be grateful that I didn't take your scrawny life when I had the chance." He snorted, backing away and took a sneering look at Brunhilde's twisted arm. "And before you decided to use that little knife of yours, be aware that if you kill me, which is highly doubtful, Bane will take your throat out. If you do so to Bane, I will do likewise." He gave a withering glance at the human. "Your species is pathetic, and you are doing nothing to improve its record. You are much less clever than you think."
(Also, my other character is kinda sorta waiting for day, so if we could start bringing this scene to a close, that would be great! BUT, take all the time that you need!)
That made no sense
Sure! Zaire's also kinda hanging around and I'd like to get him back in action! xD)
Brunhilde snorted as a response. "Pathetic?" she questioned, "You call my race pathetic?" but she restrained her anger and contempt. "We humans may seem obnoxious and certain of our position in the universe, but we have achieved things like no other. Evolution has taken it's course in everything, including us. Once, we were simple hunters, then over time, we became agriculturists, builders, architects of towering buildings and constructors of cities, we meddled with science and worked out cures and ailments to prevent the weak from dying, we even sought to protect you lot." hissing her final statement. "Sure, there were some that didn't give a damn for your ecosystem, but you can be sure as hell that I did." flinging her hands in the air with anger, she spat back, "Years of charity work, kindness, compassion and a determination to do the Earth good and what has that done for me? To lose everyone and to be restrained by force? To feel like death is stalking me by the creatures I once was desperate to protect?" snarling back, she continued, "Frankly, I don't give a damn if I'm killed. My family's gone and the only thing keeping me alive is trying to help those in need. If you can't have the capacity of compassion or emotion in your heart to help keep a struggling settlement alive, regardless of species, then you are less of a noble leader than I once thought."
Now folding her arms, she continued in a calmer tone, despite her narrowed eyes, "We once evolved from single-celled organisms that flowed in the seas and even though we are different physically and in our survival, we still bleed the same red blood, we still have a heart, lungs, organs within us that make us go and we still all feel emotion in our veins. We are not so different. I have stated this before."
Suddenly a sly look entered her eyes. She may put the emotions of others first, but she had retained cunning intelligence on her side, "If I am to stay here for a while, then let it be. However, no knowledge of human settlements will be given out. My weapons will remain by my side and I will not be hunted." Giving a more narrowed glance, she added, "And as a simple request in exchange for my.. 'imprisonment', any humans in this territory will be sent to me beforehand or I will be notified of their presence. Just as a precaution to travelers." Holding her battered hand out, she grunted, "That's my deal. Take it or leave it."
Ghembo
Ghembo bit back a roar when she brought up her race supposedly saving his kind. Half the world didn't care what would happen and would send their beasts of iron and oil into their territory, killing lions and "taming" the land. The fact that she had even considered bringing it up, much less the fact that she did, was almost impossible to think about. He kept his head down and his voice in a cold, furious hiss. "As to your... comments, for as long as you stay here, you will have nothing but respect for lions and any other animal. You will never, never insult another one of my kind again. If you do, I will personally see to your execution. And I will be the judge."
With that, he sat back on his haunches, considering the offer made by the human and seemingly uncaring at the hostility he spoke. "Most of your weapons will be kept in your cave. You may carry around your beast," he said, nodding at the rifle, "as long as no lion gets hurt. If you as much brush the hairs on a lion's coat with it," he chuckled, "you'll wish that you had been killed and eaten when I captured you. Otherwise, I see no apparent problem with your offer. But staying here means you have a choice. Either I can introduce you to the pride tomorrow and you will live among them, hunt with them, and treat them as your own, or you can stay locked up in here." He cocked his head to the right. "You said you worked for the ecosystem. You said you have nothing to live for. And trust me, even if you view me as nothing but a mindless brute, a mere obstacle in your path, I know how it feels to have everything of worth stripped from you. I know how it feels to have the Earth turn on you. It's been happening my whole life." He gazed at Bane listlessly. "And guess what? The whole reason that I'm one of the leaders of pride and have been since I was practically a cub is because of your species. I did nothing. Your cocky attitude that seems in abundance with your race is what got you in this mess. Your species is to blame for us. The Elementals are here because of you."
(Have you ever roleplayed with someone and you sorta become your character? So say my character is angry at another, I sometimes get angry at the person playing the character! Thank goodness that hasn't happened yet!)
Snarling back with a curl of her lips, she grumbled in response, "Well that's all well and dandy but don't expect me to agree with your.. views." folding her arms, she growled, "Introduce me if you want, I don't care, as long as you kitty-cats don't use me as a play-toy mouse." glancing over at Bane with narrowed eyes, she hissed, "Just send that message, I see no need to continue talking. Thank you for your services." she added briskly. With that, she removed two small knives from the sleeves of her arms and placed them on the ground. She leaned to her side and brought out a knife out of a pouch on her legs and she continued the process until there was a 'reasonable' pile on the ground of knives and daggers. She coughed and looked at the Lion with a narrowed eye look.
Ghembo
Ghembo's eyebrows raised as the pile of knives grew larger and larger. She had an impressive amount of weapons on her, though he'd be even more amazed if she had claws. But of course, humans were fragile and even evolution had been outwitted by them. Ironically, their greatest achievements had made them weaker and weaker, more and more dependent on their silly little tools, and once they were separated from them, they were basically mice.
As Bane's guard appeared and the question along with the translation, Ghembo almost rolled his eyes. Bane was careless with his powers and quick to aggression. When he pricked the human with the knife, he heaved to his feet with a cry of rage. His tail was an angry snake, lashing back and forth even more than it would with the human. Vines crept from the back of the cave and lashed the knife out of the air and coiled around his paws. He would not tolerate this. "Bane," he roared, unconsciously unsheathing his claws. "You will never do that again! As of now, this human is part of my PRIDE! You will NOT touch her again, no matter how much she provokes any of you! DO YOU UNDERSTAND?" He narrowed his eyes at the alpha, making sure to keep his eyes on the alpha's nose. lest he feel temptation to take over his body.
(Also, I'm assuming we're going with the notion that Bane has been translating this whole conversation. Yes? ^^)
(@Scotland
Ah, don't worry about it! This is purely for fun, so if you don't have time, I'm not going to pressure you at all. I know what it feels like to be busy, and roleplaying online sort of gets shoved to the back of your mind)
(Oh and yes Bane has been translating the entire conversation.)
Ghembo
Ghembo growled menacingly at Bane and took a step towards the wolf pack, now commanding the ivy to crawl towards them. "Out." He commanded threateningly. His tail lashed in anger at the wolf's obvious disobedience to his order. "May I remind you that you are in my territory and my lions are but a call away. Your... shield," he nodded his head at the wall of darkness, "will do nothing if you are asleep. Go home. I thank you for your translation and you will be rewarded, but if you go against my orders again... you will learn to watch your flea-bitten tail."
Ghembo turned, making sure to keep an ear out in case Bane or his goon got any dumb ideas and dipped his head at the human. "Yes," he said tiredly, guessing that Bane wouldn't bother with translation, "we're done here."
He nudged the human into the back of the cave, where it was less drafty. He called thorns and laced the ground between the wolves (and the knives) and them. To the human, he ordered, "Sleep." With his worries mostly take care of, he curled up, but kept his eyes open and glaring.
Rhea put on her new combat boots. She was in the dressing room part of the armory in the town hall basement. The people there had changed the entire hall. A lot of people had gone missing latley and she was going with a search party to find them. She grabbed her pistol and loaded it. Maybe it was time to get rid of the elementals. One and for all.
Ghembo
Ghembo's eyes slid open slowly. His mind was still fogged with sleep and his mouth felt dry. He hadn't even realized he had fallen asleep until he woke up. He turned his head to the human, seeing her half-awake and half-asleep, ready for anything. He shook his head. She probably wouldn't come to trust him for awhile, and he could respect that.
He slowly got to his paws, shaking feeling back into them. The thorns were still lining the floor. He withered them with a thought from his mind, and dragged the knives to the back of the cave, hissing as he accidentally pricked himself. At that, he strode to the front of the cave, looking out. He roared loudly, knowing full well that it would most likely wake the human. Soon, a young male lion appeared, all white except for burnished gold eyes. Quickly, he summed up what had happened with the human and explained his roll as translator.
(Sorry for the half-baked post! Pretty busy with other things!)
She turned to the still-sleeping Sheera, smiled and cuddled up closer.
Sheera
Sheera's eyes cracked open and she stretched, yawning and greeting the day. She blinked to clear the haze of sleep, groaning as she tried to stand. She felt the fur of her companion, Ariana, and stuck her muzzle in it, breathing deeply and wrapping herself in the leopard's scent.
Sheera had been surprised at how much she connected with the leopard. The suspicions of her life seemed small and insignificant in comparison to how she felt with the leopard. It was like the stars, the moon, and the sun were celebrating inside her, and butterflies soared in her stomach. It was the best feeling in the world.

Zaire was furious. As the dawn light settled upon the rippling rivers, he was more irritated than ever. And that was saying something. A young croc, no older than 24 moons of age had been killed on a riverbank, his head and body gutted roughly, even the predator had no care in the world for how it picked on it's prey, something not noble and showed arrogance and aggressiveness. As his group once again began to mourn, he was determined to figure out the cause of his death. Of course, the main culprit was either those damn lions he got into a fight with earlier, or the other lingering predators, wolves, leopards, heck, even the wildebeest had something against them, so it could have been any normal predator. Yet, it didn't look like a mammal kill. He was gutted, so something came up beneath him, while he was swimming. Furiously, Zaire whipped around and glowered out of the reeds that cloaked their home and into the near forests, Whatever you are. he hissed viciously, You're gonna die soon.
(Just adding in some extra drama and stuff, is that okay? Not too sure.. )
Ghembo
Ghembo's ear swiveled back, catching on the human's slight movement. A small grin split his face and he said, "Glad you're awake. Today is going to be a busy day for you and me." He flicked his tail. "You are going to be introduced to the pride. Remember your manners, and you will be officially accepted into the tribe." He turned and rolled his neck, wincing as he heard a crack. Sleeping in a dank, rough cave wasn't the best idea. "You will eventually pick up on what means what in the lion pride. Maybe even you'll pick up on bits of our language. Lions will most likely call you what you wish to be called, for you will be with me, and I am of high rank. Most won't dare to disrespect you if you are around me. If you want to work up your own honor and rank around here, you'll need to impress them. We'll discuss your duties later." He stood up and padded out into the tentative, pink rays of dawn. "Come."
(Yeah! That's completely fine, and I'm glad that Zaire has something to do now! X3
Also, I'm not going to write down that the lion is translating, he just... does.)
