I tilted my head, slightly confused. "Really? It doesn't feel like flying for me. To me It's always feels like someone just hooked me with a fishhook and then pulled me to my destination." I glanced down at Brutis, grinning at him. "Maybe people's bodies interpret it differently. We'll come down if you promise to stop knocking us over!" He whined sullenly, but backed away from the tree. I put the arm that had been holding us up around Maurina's waist, allowing us to tip backwards. Just as we began to fall, I teleported us safely to the ground on our feet.

I screamed, unused to being able to teleport away from danger like that. When we landed perfectly fine, I playfully slapped Jacobs arm. "Stop giving me heart attacks! But that was really cool!"
Brutis raced forward and jumped up on me.
"Yes, I see you, trouble!" I laughed at him, ruffling his fur.

I was glad to see Maurina happy again. She would have to enjoy it while she could though, because I had a feeling that our morale was going to plummet once we entered the city. Thankfuly the horses had returned in the night, so we still had transportation. "I hate to interrupt your fun Maurina, but we should probably get going. Daylight's burning and we have to search the whole city for the symbol, rescue whoever it was that called me, and then get out alive." I grinned at how ridiculous it sounded. Just another day in the apocalypse!

"Alright," I said, letting Brutis drop back down. I looked over at Jacob. He looked different in the daylight after our shared kiss the night before. His eyes were warmer, his lips smiled more easily, and he looked at me...my heart melted, racing a million miles a minute, and my knees knocked. I still couldn't believe that he liked me! I smiled at him shyly, gathering up my things. Then I handed him some trail mix and jerky I had packed. "Sorry Bru. You'll have to hunt down breakfast."
Brutis sneezed and looked at me. He loved hunting down rabbits and squirrels so I knew he'd be fine. He waited until we had climbed unto Chief and Leona. Then he took off to hunt.

"Let's go!" I shouted, digging my heels into Cheif's sides. The horse mirrored my enthusiasm, rearing up slightly, before setting off at a gallop. "Race you there!" I called back with a laugh.

Leonia whinnied and looked back at me. I bent low over her neck, "Let's go show those boy's why girls are better!"
She took of like lightning, racing ahead of Chief. When we were in front of then, I balanced myself so I could look back at Jacob. Feeling flirtatious, I blew him a kiss. "We'll met you there!"

As they past us Chief let out a snort. I laughed, saying, "Come on buddy, are we just going to let the woman beat us? We've got to prove ourselves to them!" His eyes flashed as he let out a loud whinny. Thunder rumbled, and we took of like a shot. I barely held on as we hurtled forward, sparks of lighting flying from Chief's hooves. The horse let out a squeal, clearly as surprised as I was, and planted his hooves firmly in the soft earth. This sent action sent us head over heels. Luckily I was able to teleport us safely, or we might have been seriously injured. I stood next to the trembling horse, stroking his neck and trying to soothe him. His eyes glowed and his hooves still sparked slightly. Marina and Leona were several hundred yards behind us.

"JACOB!" I screamed, terrified he'd hurt himself. "Leona, sweetheart, please hurry!"
She looked back at me and kicked up the pace. In a few minutes we were beside them.
"Jacob!" I yelled again, flinging myself into his arms. "What was that? Are you okay?"
Leona nudged Chief and whinnied at him. It sounded very much like she was scolding him.

I stroked the back of Maurina's head, trying to calm her "I'm fine. We both are. But, I've have siscovered an interesting fact. Apparently animals can get the Ex virus as well." Cheif snorted at Leona. He almost seemed like he was defending himself. "And I don't think Cheif new about it either."

"Well, that would explain Brutis' ability to jump," I said, pulling back. "What do you think Leona got?"
I looked at Leona who was still nudging Chief. "She seems to understand me, and she's very intuitive."

"I'm not sure. They all seem much more intelligent than a normal animal of their species would be, but Leona does seem more so. It could be anything though." I said moving back over to the disgruntled Chief. I patted his side, "There, there buddy. It wasn't your fault. I know you didn't mean it." He turned, nudging my head, as if to say, 'Of course it wasn't my fault.'

I walked back to Leona and she stood still while I got on her back. "Can we stay together? I'm not sure Chief's heart can take another scare like that."
I scratched behind his ear. Brutis, sensing he was missing something came running towards them. A rabbit hung from his mouth.
"Bru, good boy," I told him, sending a treat his way.

"Yeah that's probably a good idea." I said, climbing back on Chief. We set off again at a slow trot. I pondered over our discovery. If animals could get the disease too, how many of the Ex he had faced had actually been humans before? Most Ex probably were human, but still it was interesting to think about. I glanced subtly at Maurina. I enjoyed the fact that she had been worried about my safety, and thrown herself into my arms.

Looking at Jacob behind the curtain of my hair, I found him looking back at me. I blushed, hoping I looked okay. While it might be the apocalypse, old habits die hard. And for me, making sure I didn't look a mess in front of the guy I liked certainly qualified.
Brutis barked, catching my attention. I looked over at him, "What?"
He sneezed and looked back out into the woods.

Maurina looked beautiful. A blush grew across her face when she noticed me looking at her. That just made her even cuter. When Brutis started barking, I looked back at the woods, trying to spot what had disturbed him. I thought I saw movement, but from this distance I couldn't tell what it was.

(Sorry that my posting times have been a little sketchy lately. It's been a tiring week :/ I'll do my best to keep up though :))

Brutis was barking at something in the woods. I knew that bark! "Jacob, there is someone out there. Like us, not Ex, not animal. And by the way Brutis is barking, they are not good!"
I looked at Jacob worriedly. I had no idea what kind of powers this person had! But if Brutis didn't like their scent, well, it wasn't good.
Suddenly, an arm came flying through the woods. It looked incredibly strange! Like it was stretching itself out. Before I could react, it grabbed me around the waist! I flew off of Leona and was dragged through the woods.
"Well, look what I've caught boys," a husky voice called out from behind me. He was the owner of the arm and had me wrapped in his arms.
"Can we take her for a spin?" A raspy voice belonging to a skinny teenage guy laughed.
"Let me go!" I shouted, bucking to try to get away.

"Maurina!" I cried as she was dragged away. I had to get to her. The horses wouldn't be fast enough. I had to try a teleport. I concentrated on the woods, and I was there. My face burned like fire, but I ignored it. Rushing into the woods, I found the two who had taken Maurina. "Let her go." I growled. The teen sneered at me. "Who's gonna make us?" I swung my fist directly into his face, a crushing blow that should have broken his nose, but he just laughed. His fist slammed into my chest, and I could feel several of my ribs break. I hit the ground hard, laying there in agonizing pain, as the two men laughed. "Now you just sit tight." The man holding Maurina said. "While we have are way with your little girlfriend here." I couldn't move. Maurina was going to go through that hell again, and there was nothing I could do to stop it. Something deep within my mind snapped. No. I wouldn't let them. I lifted myself to my feet, ignoring the pain in my chest. I could feel a change coming over my body. The edges of my mouth split wide into a grin, to accommodate for my new fangs. Gashes tore open across my face, though no blood poured out. My mind was starting to slip away, giving way to primal instinct, as my legs and arms grew longer. My back felt like it was being filleted, as strips of muscle tore loose, holding themselves above me like extra appendages. My spine was now exposed, though it had taken on the color of iron. I spoke, my voice sounding like that of the devil himself. "I WON'T LET YOU! The monster had broken free once again.

(Probably my last post today. I'm super tired, so i'll just leave you with this xD)

Jacob had come to save me! I looked at him worriedly. He'd opened up the gashes on his face again! When the kid punched him, I saw red. "JACOB! NO! LEAVE HIM ALONE!"
I struggled harder, trying to get my fans so I could hurt these guys back. Then Jacob changed. At first I was frightened by his appearance but Brutis, who'd run after us, wasn't barking at him. I was worried the change had hurt him! I had to get to his side and make sure he was alright! I stopped struggling for a moment, surprising the man so much, he didn't retract his arms to keep me held tight against him. I jammed my hands into my cloak pockets and pulled out my fans. With a flick, they were open. I kicked behind me, managing to kick the guy in the groin. he fell down hard, holding himself. While he was in such a compromising position, I held his head and kneed him in the face. He fell the rest of the way to the ground and I kicked him a few more times in the gut for good measure.
"No one uses me like that!" I snarled at him. Then I turned and ran to Jacob.

My mind was a blur of pain and rage. I saw that Maurina had freed herself from the rubber man. Good. Now I could do my work. I started with the teen. Maurina could probably handle the other guy if need be. He screamed as I grabbed him. The noise sent a shiver of pleasure through my body. Yes, scream! I slammed him to the ground, enjoying the sound of bones crunching. Holding him down, my tentacles grabbed his ankles, and began to pull slowly apart. His screams filled with agony, as he started to tear. I pulled and pulled until I could see his ribs, and his screams became a choking sob. I stared him right in the eyes. "Please." he whispered. "Please kill me." His wish was granted when my fangs tore into his head. Now for the next one.

I watched in horror as the creature who'd taken on Jacobs body tore the kid apart. "Jacob? Jacob! Stop!"
I ran over to stop him, but it was too late. Brutis was barking like mad. He flung himself between me and Jacob, snarling.
"Bru! Stop it!" a yelled, trying to get past him.
The guy I had knocked out was still laying on the ground out for the count.
