"No thanks," one of them spoke up.
"Now."
"Nah."
"Now."
Thinking better of arguing, with several grumbles they faded away. They never liked being engulfed in shadows, ghosts or not. He yawned and glanced out the window, the sun revealing it was early morning. He climbed out of bed and changed his clothes, slipping back into his jeans and putting on a regular white t-shirt. Zack put his jacket on over it and slipped on his shoes.
Though he knew it wouldn't last long, he brushed his messy hair out before stretching and leaving the room. He spotted Aroura and followed her, having nothing better to do as everyone else was probably still asleep.
(Poor Zack, ghosts bugging him and staring at him when he wakes up ouo)
"Hey," Aroura called, making her way over to him, "I didn't catch your name last night. I'm Aroura."
After a moment of concentration, becoming paler by the second, a ball of shadow formed in his hand. I must practically look like one of those ghosts by now, he thought.
Synthia's eyes opened slowly. Morning. Did she have to get up? Yes, today was important. She stretched yawning. She stared confused at her hands for a moment, before realizing they were large, black, and covered in spines. She was the monster again. No. No, no no no! Why had she become this... thing, again? She tried to calm herself, but it was no use. She was haveing a full panic attack. When she tried to say something, all that came out was that stupid flute noise from when they first got here. The inability to call for help frightened her even more
Suddenly, white hot pain clouded her mind. Her vision blurred, causing her to cry out in fear. The floor of the room raced up to meet her.
She saw Synthia. But she was in her other form. She cried out silently at Aroura, unable to make a sound. Gabriel was stalking closer to Synthia, his sword raised to strike her down. Aroura tried to stop him but realized she was tied up and unable to move. She screamed at him to stop but he just shook his head and laughed. Aroura cried out for Evander. Now Gabriel turned away from Synthia. He pointed to behind Aroura. Aroura turned her head and looked behind her. Hanging from a tree Evander's lifeless eyes stared back at her. She screamed.
Coming back to the present, Aroura gave a blood curdling scream. Warm, wet bloody tears flowed down her face.
Synthia calmed herself enough to form a single thought. Find Evander. She slowly opened her door, peeking out. Seeing no one she stepped out into the hall, closing the door behind her. She moved quickly, not wanting to be seen by anyone. She rounded the corner, and came face to face with Eyeless Jack. The boy looked fairly startled. He had never seen Synthia in her demon form, so he didn't recognize her. "Wha-what are you?" He said backing up. Synthia's mind was in agony. Why would he say that? He had acted as if he liked her. She felt something in the back of her mind. A deep aching hunger. She didn't hold it back. Her pupils dilated until her entire eye was pitch black. "I'm a monster"
Making her way to her feet, she shakily took a step and had to lean heavily on Evander.
Blood... So much blood... It's delicious... Synthia snapped back into consciousness. What happened? She suddenly noticed that the walls were covered in blood. Something warm trickled down her chin. Her hand went to her mouth. Both were covered in blood. A little ways down the hall lay a mangled... thing. A broken blue mask lay next to it. "What did I do? I-I killed him?" A small cry came from her. It grew lounder and louder, until it was a wail of anguish. She ran back to her room, and threw herself into the window. The glass shattered easily from the force, and she ran of into the woods.
"What do you mean?" Evander asked. "Whats wrong?" He heard a mans scream, then a few moments later, an agonizing wail. 'What was that?' he wondered. Could that have been Synthia?
She buried her head into his shoulder and hugged him. A scream pierced the air.
Aroura nodded. Se had a sinking feeling what ever they would find would not be good!
Zack stared in shock at the body. "...Just making a wild guess here, but would it be possible Synthia did this?" he asked.
He'd followed a trail of blood to find these people and he was sure he'd seen worse somewhere in his memories, so the scene didn't bother him as much as the average person. This Synthia must be some girl. Then again, there's a chance it didn't happen purposely. He noticed a few drops of blood on the ground and followed them to Synthia's room.
He looked in shock at the broken window. Did she run away?
"Hey, Evander, Aroura, I think you should see this."
Aroura looked up at Zack. "No, Synthia wouldn't have done this. She loved him!"
She went back to comforting Evander.
When Zack called them over, Aroura walked over with Evander. She was shocked. Her vision flashed before her eyes again and she was terrified that Gabriel had done this.
She shrugged into her jacket and shook herself. She couldn't worry about herself. Synthia was in trouble. "Let's follow the trail!"
Looking around the room Evander noticed that it looked like a struggle had gone on. "What ever did this must have taken Synthia" There were long bloody scratches on a few of the trees. Vaulting out of the window, he began to head in that direction. "Come on, we have to get her back."
Synthia ran and ran and ran some more. Eventually she couldn't make herself take another step. She fell to her knees in an open grassy field, and cried. She cried until she had no tears left, then she cried more. When she had finished, she simply sat with her chin on her knees, sniffling. She heard a strange noise, like the jingling of bells. Looking up she saw a strange man in a blue and pink jester costume watching her. He smiled, saying nothing, and held out a large purple balloon. His eyes were kind and compassionate. She reached out and took the balloon.
