Nightshade limped over to the other warriors and collapsed to the
ground, she was covered in deep cuts and deep wounds and her white
stomach and paws were blood red. "HomeyPaw, your okay, you did
exactly as you were told." Nightshades head hit the ground, she
didn't have enough power to move.
Fernshade rushed towards Nightshade, and reached the black-and-red
warrior the same time as Treefoot. She sent him a glare and a hiss,
and he backed away. "We'll need the Medicine Cat!" Fernshade
growled into the crowd. An apprentice nimbly approached her, and
whispered, "She's not here with us anymore. Birdfling is our
Medicine Cat now," The apprentice whispered, and the
smaller-than-average new Medicine Cat came over with a small amount
of herbs--her only herbs.
Fernshade sent a glare at Treepelt. She wasn't quite in the right
mood, counting she had just watched her own apprentice die and was
forced to end poor Dapplepaw's suffering (which didn't make her
feel right now a days). "You betrayed her, Treepelt. You claimed
you truly cared about her when you never really did. Stop trying,
already." Fernshade hissed, her fur raising.
"It pained me to do it! If I didnt, I would either be killed,
framed for betrayal or treason or banished secretly. I'd rather see
her again, but not be with her, than never see her again, you know
how painful that would be!?" Treepelt hissed.
Honeypaw couldn't help but gasp at her mentor's act of bravery, but
Fernshade's reaction was quite different. "Nightshade, you tried to
take down a whole army of badgers and DuskClan at the same
time by yourself?! You should've just warned us beforehand!" The
deputy exclaimed, her tail whipping angrily. She was mainly just
panicked because Nightshade could've died and was hurt, but she
didn't quite show that much.
"You could've been slaughtered! Why'd you do it, Nightshade?! Why
did you not want us beforehand?!" Fernshade hissed. Acornfur had
padded to her with a scornful look. "Fernshade, calm down..." He
grumbled. "My apprentice just died at my paws, and you're telling
me to calm down?!" She grimaced at Acornfur.
Fernshade shrugged. "Alright, then." She meowed. The former deputy
really wanted to get away from the Clan, but technically they
didn't have a camp anymore.
