Twilight Cometh(Thread)
Forum-Index → Roleplay → Twilight Cometh(Thread)Lydia quietly stared down at the shifting sands.
"It's the idea that the world works on a very delicate balance, where if one bit of the puzzle disappears, everything falls apart. In our case, it was the destruction of the original City of God that started it. The killing of so many people created a great imbalance in the mana of the world, which launched a chain reaction, opening portals linked to a world with too many lifeforms, to fill up our lack of them."

She noticed Elle's disapproval of the cigarette.
She snuffed the cigarette out.
"And, my brother's destruction of the City of God was the catalyst."

Truth's retort was dry and honest.
"He did the best that he could, and I'll give him that. But the murder of so many was overkill, don'tcha think?"

"There are only two people in this god-forsaken earth I have ever trusted. You are one of them. If it makes you feel better, I had so much fun in our time together." Elle had once thought that Abyss had meant Violet. The second person he had trusted. But Vi was his friend. El had been his confidante.

"I only met him three years before the fall. I was a scrappy sixteen year old with more power in my pinky than I realized doing nickel and dime heists. He caught me, and instead of turning me over to the authorities, told me my talents were wasted. We went on to operate in different sectors, but our collaborations were legendary. And then he sent me a tape. That was where it really started..." She trailed off.
"I'm sorry. Did I even answer your question?" It was the first time she had spoken about The Incident in five years.

Truth bowed her head slightly. She stayed like that for a few moments, before getting to her feet, stretching.
"...Well, are you coming? I really need your answer in tbe next 5 minutes."
Truth yawned, before lazily drawing a circle in the air.
A door appeared along the path of her finger through the air.

It led to the same snow-covered graveyard.
Truth stepped through the door, into the chill of the City of God.
"Careful, Miss. It's cold."
Truth glanced at the blank gravestone for a moment, then at the rose, dusted with snow, resting on the ground.
"...Don't step on the flower."

She took a deep breath. The air in the City of God was cleaner than Elle remembered. She could feel guilt in the pit of her stomach, nausea prickling at her insides. But there was also a tremor of excitement. She had done great things here. Terrible things, but great things nonetheless.
Drawn to the headstone, she approached as if in a trance. She crouched down in front of the grave, delicately trailing a single finger along the blood red petals of the flower. A gust of wind swirled the snow that had settled on the ground, scattering flurries into the air.
"Is this...?" She asked a question that didn't need to be asked.

Although his mind was ever sky-bound, the shadow of his body lies here.
It was something she had read in a book somewhere, yet it felt strangely fitting.
Elle wordlessly followed Truth, fighting back emotions as she reentered the City of God.

"Wait, I didn't mean to come here. This isn't where Logic told me to come."
Truth drew another door in the air, opening it up.
Perched on a ledge, high up above the city of Prosperity, Logic was perched upon a ledge, fiddling with a drone.
Truth took a step out onto the ledge.
"Logic."
He glanced up from his controller, at Truth.
His azure hair was swaying with the wind.
"Oh, Truth! And... you must be Elucian Anaheim! Or... Elle K. Compass, now, was it?"

Yet they had disappeared from the City of God. They were in another great city, Elle could tell from the strong magnetic interference, but she had no idea... where. So why had Lydia taken her to that graveyard? To gauge her reaction? To pay her respects? To get a free engraving?
"So, Logic. It has been awhile since I heard tell of you. How may I be of service?" Her words skittered across the thin blade of sarcastic and serious, her jumbled emotions buried deeper.

Logic laughed quietly.
"Removing my most bitter rival... I really must thank you."
Truth was quiet, glaring at logic.
"Well, you must have heard the schpeal from Truth already. I'm creating a... team, of sorts, to save the world from destruction."

That word. Service. Coming from his mouth, it sounded twisted. Familiar.
"You sent me that note." There was no question. "Why, that's extremely curious."

"Truth, be a dear and pick up these people for me, will you?"
He quickly texted her a list of names and locations.
"Come, sit down next to me, Elle K. Compass. We have much to talk about, no?"
