Ignoring the pettiness of the other students, Emika chose to focus on the ingredients set in front of her. Her mind was already coming up with a multitude of different options to make with the ingredients. She heard a student, a boy, mumble, asking for help. She wasn't sure if she should help...
Marina's interest peaked as the teacher handed out the ingredients for potions. She knew about potions! At least, she knew about potions from under the sea and in regards to death... She winced at the memory of having to make poisons... Shuddering the memories away, she looked over to Jackie. She smiled as she saw her stepsister talking with a couple of people. She waved to catch Jackie's attention...
Eris was intrigued by the materials passed out by the teacher. Potions, huh? This should hopefully go well, if it had similarities to cooking. Just follow the recipe, adjust if necessary, and contain for later.

"Whaaaaat, just playin around!"
Lin scowled and turned away.
"Can...can someone help me..?"
Her ears perked up. The voice was a little quiet, but Lin just about managed to catch all the words.
She turned around to find the source of the noise.
It was....oh what was their name again?...Theo?
"Hey! I heard your cry for help- I um...don't mind helping!" Lin extended a hand. "Lin Reyane-Martinez, pleased to make your acquaintance!"
She grinned.
"To be honest I'm in a bit of a pickle myself, maybe we could help each other out?"

From the corner of her eye she could see waving. Someone was waving at her?? Jackie turned to the direction of the waving to see...
Marina!
Jackie gave her stepsister a sweet smile before waving back at her with a small giggle. She at least hoped Marina was enjoying this class- it was boring and tiresome....but the mini-drama earlier was funny though..

Emika paid close attention to what the teacher was doing. Four drops, ten leaves, fifteen maggots, three pinches. She found the specific ingredients and conducted the procedure.
Marina beamed when she got Jackie to wave back to her. She decided to see if Jackie a) remembered their secret language, and b) wanted to work with her. She flattened one hand and lifted and lowered her opposite fist down onto it twice, this meant 'work'. Then she pointed a finger up and moved the hand in a circle, this meant 'as one' or 'together'.
Eris gave strong attention to what the teacher did. She was a little amazed when the skeletons appeared from the potion. It almost set off her spirit consumption instinct, but she held it at bay. She focused on making the potion...

She then remembered, of course! Their silly secret language! Jackie surprisingly remembered what Marina was telling her, even after they did this as little girls.
Jackie decided to return the favor by replying to Marina using the same secret language.
Jackie used two of her fingers and made a zig-zag and two circles, meaning "Of course", and then pointed at herself and made a heart with her hands as she smiled, meaning, "I'd love to!"
Jackie giggled a little as the memories from her past began to flow in her mind.

Marina beamed as Jackie understood and even replied to her in their secret language. She carefully gathered the materials as best as she could and joined Jackie and the other two students. "Eh-hy! I'm so happy you remembered, Jackie!"
Eris was also stirring her potion...

Jackie moved some of her own belongings so Marina could place hers next to them. "I just hope the others don't mind that you work with us. For now we can work together." Jackie said sweetly.

Marina giggled happily. She placed her stuff down and quickly organized the materials a bit. "Yay! This is gonna be fun!" When she remembered what the potion the teacher had made did, she shuddered, glancing at the working skeletons...

"Fun? Nah, this is making me wanna sleep. Although I don't want to be knocked out like someone..." Jackie said, gesturing to Idris. "I guess I'll force myself to stay awake and not look high." Jackie giggled.
"When is this class over, anyways? It feels like forever." She groaned a little angrily.
"I wish time went fast or something, y'know? Sitting here making random potions to make who-knows-what, is not really my thing. It's giving mad scientist." Jackie said.
"The skeletons look a little funky, don't you think?" Jackie joked a little. It was a little corny, yeah, but this class was so damn boring...besides, she had better things to do like read her manga, make goofy ahh jokes with Kaden, blah blah blah..
"I'd rather be in my dorm than do this to be honest." Jackie sighed a little.

Marina had to giggle at Jackie's dramatic monologue. "Aw, don't be such a downer-flounder. This class may get interesting! Someone might get the potion wrong and cause something interesting to happen, for all we know!" She suddenly froze.
After several tense moments, Marina seemed to snap back into reality. She winced and pressed a hand to her head.

"Man, can't wait to see that happen, I guess.." Jackie groaned. She did doubt that a little because some of the kids here were too immersed in the potion, so would there be a possible spill up??
Jackie noticed Marina suddenly freeze and then seem to snap out of something, and then hold her head as if she was in pain..
"You good?" Jackie said, a little worried. What happened with her stepsister??

Marina gave her stepsister a weak smile. "Y-yeah." She shook her head a little, clearing the mind fog that lingered. She was able to smile a bit better once the fog cleared. "That happens more times than I like to admit. Ever since... That Day... I have these sort of blackouts. Everything just... Vanishes..." She shuddered. "Luckily they don't last too long. The longest record was five and a half minutes." Marina gave a shrug, used to it.

Jackie raised an eyebrow. What day was Marina talking abo- oh. That. Of course.
"Oh....well at least you're doing well for now, I guess..." Jackie said.
Great, now she could feel the memories. And they weren't the good ones. Jackie tried to push them away before they fully got to her, focusing on the potion and not saying another word.
She wouldn't be left traumatized. Not anymore.

He was now frowning at the ingredients, and having paid no attention to the teacher he was obviously struggling.

"Possibly.." Theo mumbled, watching Lin work. He copied her closely, watching her work and explain it. "Atleast it didn''t...well, explode." He said, with a little giggle. "It would've been funny."

Nightbane... Hollow root leaves... Yadda yadda hocus pocus, Harry Potter BS or somethin' I dunno.
Mei stared at the ingredients for a bit, slowly blinking as she sat and did absolutely nothing. She had made the mistake of relying on her little shadow "friend" to remind her of whatever Grimm did, and now all of the weird names were repeating endlessly in her head at an excruciating volume and speed. They all overlapped into one big headache and she could hardly focus on a single thing, so she simply sat in silence.
After a while, and by sneaking a few glances at other students, she decided to shrug it off and say screw it, then started adding whatever she could find and in varying amounts. For the s**ts and giggles, she made the concoction into something that resembled a deadly fish bowl straight from Chernobyl, sea creatures with no discernable shape other than "void-like" began swimming around in this mess of a brew. Then...
It somehow became a whirlpool, a spiral of doom as Mei began to take on the smile of the devil, all until the little sea creatures slowly became subject to being caught in the center of this doom pit. Once they became a tiny black speck surrounded by a violent torrent, the concoction...
Exploded right in Mei's face, not before she backed away to a safe distance moments before, and laughter could be heard soon after. She looked over at Jackie with a crazy grin and a giggle, then did finger guns in the direction of her... DIY attempt of recreating a firework show failure.
"Atleast it didn''t...well, explode. It would've been funny."
Mei glanced over at Theo and gave a light chuckle. Sure would've been funny alright. Two explosions in one class, what a show that would've been! Hey wait... Two explosions...
Reminds me of a certain event called... Y'know what, I'm not finishing the joke.
Anyways, Mei almost completely ignored Idris except for pulling a dumb stunt by spelling out "Dumba**" in his cauldron after noticing how much he was struggling, the letters resembling the void-like sea creatures she had in her own. Of course her umbrakinesis would hardly do a thing to these concoctions, they just added a little ✨pizazz✨

Jackie flinched at the sudden explosion behind her. She turned around and saw Mei back away from it. Jackie held in a laugh behind her hand and then turned around, holding back tears as she tried not to burst out crying-laughing like a lunatic.
But it was too funny, she had to see the aftermath of the explosion, but then she heard giggling. Mei was laughing??
Jackie looked at Mei, seeing her snickering and doing lame finger guns at her flabbergasting potion. Jackie gave Mei a 'be so for real' look with a bombastic, criminal offensive side eye added to it.
Jackie turned back around and sighed as she continued to work with Marina and talk a little with Kaden.

He frowned.
Words were forming in his mess of a concoction.
Did he mess up...again?
First there was a D-
Then a U-
Then a M-
Then a B-
D U M B
He frowned.
Then the last three letters followed.
"Oh for Christ's sake-" He mumbled angrily, turning around to Mei and scowling. "Not funny."
If she kept this up, maybe he'd do some funky shenanigans of his own.

"Ohmygodthat'shilarious-" He wheezed. "And look at Idris' one too, BAHAH-"
