Calverus awoke with a sudden jolt, his hands already shaking close to his chest before he even fully came to his senses. He blinked once, then twice before pushing himself up off the ground. Where was he? He took in a deep breathe as he propped himself up on his crisscrossed legs. The boy shifted until he could stand up easier, balling his hands up into fists which he clasped behind his back. The place was unfamiliar to him, yet for some reason he felt like maybe he had been here once. He shook his head. How did he get out here? There were just too many details that carefully evaded his grasp, answers slipping away moments before he could comprehend them. It was frustrating. The ends of his mouth threatened to curl into a scowl as he began to walk forward. He had no idea where he would end up, but he had to find something eventually. At least he hoped, but the chances have never fallen in his favor even once. He frowned and minutely shook his head. Something had felt noticeably... off, since he'd woken up. Like there was something bigger he was missing. Calverus hated missing things. He hated being left out of the know-how, being the stupid one in the group. His frown seeped as he clenched his fists tighter, his pace picking up briefly. He wouldn't stay ignorant of this problem for long, that much he would guarentee.

A minute or two had passes since the beginning of her journey and the commotion only got louder, but something was off. She didn't feel safe, her anxiety was through the roof, and the poor child was so stiff and tense that she might as well be a bomb ready to explode, a shaken soda bottle that someone had the misfortune of opening. Her suspicions were confirmed when a voice came out of nowhere, a calm and gentle one, but still very terrifying. As soon as Illusia heard the boy speak, she jumped and let out a loud yelp, almost a scream before she clamped her hands over her mouth. Oh no... Did they hear her? Would the two people talking hear that? Her mind raced with concerns, and her eyes darted from every place available to them. Allowing herself time to think, she took a few seconds before replying to the question, albeit not very well. "I... I uh..." Oh god, she was panicking. What was she supposed to say, what was she supposed to do? "Here...? W...what do you mean by that...?" That question was certainly worded weirdly, but she found it best not to look too deep into it, no matter how confused she was. "I just woke up a while ago... I'm not really sure..." She trailed off, not finishing the sentence for whatever reason

oh hey what's this
He jumps slightly when he hears a frightened yelp and turns his head towards the sound. There were too many trees in the way, so he couldn't clearly see who it came from. "Hm, shall we investigate the source of that sound?" Maverick asks. "I doubt they are in danger. Everlost is completely safe... Unless you stand still in one place for too long" he adds ominously.

The girl's frightened reaction along with her shaking voice made Lucius feel worried. It was clearly scrawled on his face as his eyebrows slightly furrowed in response.
"I meant this... forest(?). Is it familiar to you? I don't remember how I got here whatsoever. I just woke up too," he clarified, taking a few steps back from the girl as an uncomfortable atmosphere got in between the two. "D-do you want me to leave you alone? I'm sorry if I scared or disturbed you in any way," he asked, while backing a little. Not looking at the ground, he could hear a thud of a small object at his feet. Looking down, he picked up the small, fluffy item to reveal a wind up toy chick, it's black bead eyes staring back at him. While it tugged at him, he simply couldn't remember what significance the toy had, he held onto it, feeling some sort of connection to the toy, and gripped it in his left fist.
His ears perked up at the mention of the two planning to move towards them and he briefly caught the small warning from the other person. What did he mean by standing in one place for too long? Why was it dangerous? Feeling curios, and slightly scared, he showed himself to the other two, peering out from behind the trees.
"What happens when you stay still for too long?" Lucias questioned worriedly. He believed that the boy had been here longer than he is. Unlike the others, he didn't look confused or frightened, as if he already accepted this new place as his home long ago. Maybe he could help Lucius get used to being around here.
"I didn't expect you to do that" he replies. "Did you also just wake up?" Maverick asks while turning his head. That's odd, I don't think it's normal for this many people to become conscious at once. "Well, in this world of Everlost the ground isn't exactly solid. If you stay still for too long you could sink down- like if you were standing in quick sand." Maverick explains. "Don't worry! It's very uncommon to sink down! I've only known one person who sunk down in all my time of being here!" Maverick adds with a wild grin.
Tyler stood still for a moment. It sounded like he could hear some voices nearby, and he glanced at the forest surrounding the meadow. Dismissing it as kids playing in the forest, he continued on. But. . was he sinking into the ground slowly? His ankles were already underground, and he panicked. "What?" He asked out loud. this must just be my imagination. mom has told me that my imagination is strong, that's it, that's the explanation. But it felt weird, like his feet were being filled with the ground. "thisisjustmyimagination-" He had took his feet out of the dirt. "myimagination-" But it felt real.
Bertholdt followed close behind as Maverick was older than him and might know the risks. He was thinking about his parents who might not have known that he was here, but surely they'd go out searching for him, right? Then again this might be some sort of afterlife.
"WAH?" Bertholdt had shrieked. Maverick was hiding behind him as someone popped out from the brush. Wow... so much for being a protector. "Good grief," Bertholdt said after noticing the person. He waited as they conversed. He was very shy. Especially around new people, he only warmed up to Maverick because he was a person to trust. But this new boy... He didn't look much older. He seemed quite familiar in an odd way. Had he seen him before? What mattered now was an introduction.
He agreed with everything Maverick said with swift nods. Once Mave finished Bertholdt questioned this stranger, "And what might your name be?" He made sure to say it in a nice way without sounding odd.

At the explanation given to him, Lucius finally understood why he felt like he was standing on mud, pulling his feet down to the ground slowly with every second he stood still. The idea of having to move all the time was quite tiring to the boy. To be safe, he shifted his feet a little to the left and moved away from the trunk, revealing the parts below his head which were hidden by the bark. The clothes he was wearing kind of stood out from the others in an awkward way, the gold lace on his white shirt screamed a sign of luxury that matched with the other white and yellow theme of his attire. He wondered why he was wearing such clothes in the middle of the woods, probably in the middle of nowhere too, but he decided he'll worry about the details later. Maybe he could get a change of more casual clothes somewhere else.
"I see. Sorry for the scare, I started to panic a little," he apologized quietly while fidgeting his fingers. As nice as he's trying to be, it seems like he had a knack for scaring all the people around him, probably because he was so quiet that people usually had no clue he was there with them. He let out a sigh at the thought.
"And the name's Lucius," he answered Bertholdt's question. "So, are we stuck here forever?" He asked Maverick again. While he certainly didn't recognize the place, it seemed too good for the boy for it to be reality. Everything from how the forest was set to the way all to how perfect the sounds of the nature around him melodiously combined together was like he was stuck in a fantastical picture in a storybook. Though, he knew how vivid his imaginations could get and, for all he knew, he was probably dissociating from reality again.
Lucius's question made Maverick feel sick. The sudden reminder that this world would be their eternal home was... Overwhelming to say the least. He doesn't show his sudden unease though. His grin doesn't falter for a even a second while he answers Lucius's question.
"Yup!" He says cheerfully while leaning against a nearby tree. "It ain't all that bad once you get use to it" he lies. He chuckles to himself and looks between Lucius and Bertholdt, "you two will be fine. I'll take it upon myself to get you two settled in!" While standing still, he had began to sink down, the earth had nearly swallowed him down to his ankles. But the experienced boy doesn't show even a flicker of panic. It would take awhile to sink down far enough to where escape was impossible. He had time to rest.
"Now, it's my turn to ask you two a question." His voice suddenly became deadly serious. He lowers his head, not wanting to see their reactions to this upcoming question. Talk about death was a sore topic for anyone. But it was necessary to establish and find your dead spots as soon as possible. "How and where did you guys die?" He asks softly.
The next question scared Bertholdt so much that he shivered. How had he died? "I- Uh- Erm-" How could he phrase it without crying? Ahah! That's it! "I dunno,my brother had killed me while I was at school." He tried to sound cool but there was a tremble in his voice. "Do you recall how you went Maverick?" He regretted asking the question but he was curious.

Lucius's eyes slightly widened in surprise. No one had told him he was dead. He could have guessed from the otherworldly aura the place brought, but the reality that this was probably the afterlife still shook him and his already pale skin seemed to have lost any color in them.
However, even with the news he just recieved, he decided to not think too much of it. He decided to focus on the good things that lay ahead. Yes, he might be confused, and admittedly a little terrified, but with the reassurance from the more experienced person, he was sure he'd be alright.
Things have always been that way after all.
The question Maverick asked was one the boy couldn't really answer. He had woken up with nothing but his name and he can't recall any events lining up to the present. Still, he pressed on his mind to remember any bits of his living life, but all it brought were fragmented memories and blurry pictures. A face he couldn't remember, yet felt so familiar, two others scribbled over by dark shadows, the moonlight that spilled through the windows and the glint of the metal blade of the knife. The images filled the boy's head, but didn't connect to one another. Though, he could deduce that he was probably murdered. The one who had taken his life, however, still remained a mystery.
"I can't remember much, but I think I was murdered by someone, but I can't recall who killed me or where I died," he admitted. "Maybe they'll resurface sometime later," he wondered out loud. He still wondered how Bertholdt's memory still remained intact and if he was the only one with memory loss, though he would actually rather forgetting the gruesome details of his death than having to live with it eternally, especially if the one to end your life was no one but your own family members.
"So... We need to search around for a school, and whatever pulls at your memory." He informs the two. "It should be easy enough" he adds confidently. He takes a step forward, then suddenly stops. What was that? He narrows his eyes, catching movement through some brush. Is someone eavesdropping? Maverick steps closer to the person, suddenly curious on who this person was, and why they intended to remain hidden. "You know, it's not nice to listen in on people's conversations" he scolds. "Who are you?"
Luther
The sound of the bells reverberated throughout the church, banging through the thin, peeling wood, and crawling up through the pews. At the top, a soul perched, his eyes closed. He began to slip, but a methodical twitch sent him back up onto the hardwood. Luther inhaled to the sound of the bells, and exhaled to the sound of the following echoes.
His eyes flashed open. Greensouls had awoken.
I haven't been out of here in quite a while, he mused. He propped himself up against a loose wall panel. I wonder just how things have changed?
Typically, things didn't change for their kind. Abandoned children, tragically ripped from their parents arms. Cast into a world where no one cared or remembered who they were.
He snorted.
Regardless of his feelings towards the weaker of his kind, he had to leave this place eventually. And perhaps some older ones may have joined. Ones who might not actually make him want to find a way to die twice.
Luther exhaled a deep sigh. It always came down to that, didn't it? Justification. Pretending that the isolation of a hundred years hadn't left you a pathetic, snivelling mess.
He was weak. But he was smart enough to admit it to himself.
It was time to stop this ridiculous argument.
Luther started for the door.
Saeko's eyes fluttered open suddenly, their hands clutching their throat, gagging. Their shaking hands gingerly pressed the skin of their neck, wincing. A small, pink scar encircled their throat, as thin as a wire. Saeko looked around them sharply, eyes watering with the lingering pain of the scar. Saeko's hands clutched their jeans as they studied the unfamiliar location they were in. What the heck was this place? Saeko had so many questions. This place, was so...strange. Their head felt all...funny. The few memories Saeko could recall were already fading, but why? A few screams, a tall figure- was all they could remember. Their limbs felt stiff, and creaked as they got up, dusting themselves off. Bronze fingertips brushed the bark of a nearby tree. Leaves crunched underneath Saeko's battered and worn trainers.
They could see others, some confused, as they were, others looked...confident, and unfazed, as if they'd been here a while. But what was, 'here'? And why were they, here? Saeko began to panic. They couldn't remember anything, they didn't know what was going on. Even their name- they were starting to forget. They slumped next to a towering oak tree, fingers massaging their temples.
Deep breaths.
Third Person POV
Leaves crunched under heavy boots. A glowing figure crouched down in front of Saeko. Brown eyes met theirs, pools of wisdom and intelligence, sparking with the light of being in the know, of power, of security, of protection-
"Hiya! I'm Luther. Whatcha doing on the ground?" A hand offered itself to Saeko. "You can't stay there too long! Bugs'll get you!"
There was a muted flinch- carefully practiced to be hidden, but still evident.
The person, to an extent either large or small, was lying.
