Letting out a frankly undignifying sound, he scrambled back, Kaoru help the Wooper in his arms even tighter, keeping her close to his body. "Guess it was wishful thinking that I could get out of here without fighting, huh?" He asked rhetorically as his eyes locked into the Skarmory before him.
The faint glow of metal plates wings was all the warning that Kaoru needed and he dashed forward, sliding underneath the metal bird pokemon. Rocks caught against the fabric of his shirt, ripping some of the fabric and gouging into his skin, but that was the least of Kaoru's worries. As soon as he had cleared the small obstacle, he ran. "Raindrop, spray the ground behind us with water." He breathlessly requested, letting the axolotl like pokemon wriggle out of her safety blanket.
Raindrop scampered up Kaoru's chest to stand on her trainers shoulder. Beady eyes sparkled within the darkness as the rocky terrain behind the pair became more dangerous with slick rick and small puddles of water
Right now
The steel bird did not enjoy that its target had already thought of something to try and escape it. It had even gotten wet when Raindrop had sprayed her water. Skarmory landed on one of the rocks to shake off the droplets of water that were ruining its beautiful polish.
“Aw Skarmory don’t be like that now. Stop acting like a kid about to throw a tantrum” Adrian almost scoffed quietly, he didn’t want to risk hurting himself by slipping so the only way to reach the fleeing trainer would be Skarmory. Skarmory stared at its trainer, then lifted itself off the rock again, ready to use another one of its steel wings to attack. The water made it a bit uncomfortable as its cold glare turned into frown. It clearly did not like being wet at all. It also knew that its trainer wouldnt risk getting hurt so it couldnt fail right now, yet it still seemed bothered, kinda thrown off because of the water.
Cyrus decided to stay, yet he still kept an eye on Caddie, ready to help her in any way he could, yet he also watched over the pokemon. He seemed kinda worried for her, she had mentioned some kind of ringing? He didnt know... about that yet. Maybe it was the after effect of the attack she was hit with? He had managed to piece everything together now. It even made sense to him, maybe a ghost type attacked her or something.
She did not appreciate the resistance at all, or the fact that the others may be getting away
It was now that the shadow girl, hood down, revealing her true, pale appearance arrived on the scene, her morpeko tensed and ready for battle, as much as it could be. Paige was still nervously munching on the seeds in her pouch constantly, but it didn't appreciate the brutality of the Rockets on what could be its friends. The Pokémon, not so much the humans, as Paige was unable to communicate with them properly...

Raindrop, seeing that the Skarmory was hesitant to follow them snickered and turned around to whip her tail before slipping back into her safe bundle of warmth within Kaoru's hands. She hoped that with the lowered defence of the enemy pokemon, the others would have an easier time escaping.
For his part, Kaoru didn't exactly notice the mischief his partner pokemon was getting into, happily bursting out of the darkened passage and out into the light. Taking in a gasp of air, he stumbled as the sting of cool air against his torn up back finally made itself known. Hissing out a small jumble of curses, he gingerly extracted his jacket from the bundled up Raindrop, smiling apologetcally. "Sorry girl gotta keep my back safe from anything nasty, y'know." He explained as he shrugged on the extra layer. A numb kind of sensation spread over his back and Kaoru blithely realized that it was probably from Raindrop's slightly poisonous mucus coating. Whatever, it was helping keep the light stings of pain at bay and he would survive for now.
Walking forward, he scanned his surroundings before spotting both Cyrus and Caddie. They seemed to be other trainers from the lab so he felt confident enough to jog up to the two. "Yaahoo, are you two okay?" He asked lightly not wanting to raise too much suspicion against him.
"Kaoru. Just Kaoru. A pleasure to meet you, Princess." He smiled, catching the fact that Caddie was slightly wobbly on her feet. They would have to just make haste and get to the next city hopefully without any other major encounters. Kaoru did have money on him so acquiring medical aid wouldn't be exactly difficult, provided that said materials were in stock, but he doubted that either of them could take too many hits before they went down.
When his partner pokemon was pointed out, however, Kaoru seemed to light up and nodded eagerly. "That's right, you're pretty sharp aren't you Princess." He praised almost teasingly. "This is Raindrop, she's pretty cute right?" As if it had been perfectly choreographed, Raindrop chittered happily, blinking owlishly up at Caddie and making her best cute face.
"I'm sorry, I don't think I have." He smiled apologetically, hoping that he could at least comfort her. His eyes furrowed however at how absent Caddie seemed, her face a pale parlour that worried him. She seemed worse off than he did and if possible he would have run to the nearest town right then and there. But she was also concerned about her partner pokemon. It simply wouldn't be right to leave such a situation be.
"How about you rest for a moment, Princess?" He finally proposed, his voice becoming more gentle and concerned. "Your face is awfully pale and I'd hate it if you got hurt. I can go and look for Racer, m'kay?" He moved to place a hand on Caddie's shoulder before pausing and taking his hand back.
The ever-present smile never strayed from their face as Valentine nodded. "Both quite aesthetically pleasing as well as powerful." They agreed, wondering if their Flygon should have come with. However, their pokemon have always been independent, going out of their own volition to exercise and take care of themselves. Vincent themself never kept their pokemon on a tight leash, pokeballs gathering dust with disuse. They doubted that Flygon would need to stretch his wings and if Flygon wanted to rest, then Valentine would allow him to rest. After all, Valentine trusted that their pokemon knew themselves best.
"Though if you'll permit me to, I find it odd that you would prefer relaxation over battling. As one of our Admins and a member of the new Elite Four, one would expect you to be constantly training. Though I doubt that I alone can stand up to you." They wondered out loud, taking a lock of hair and twirling it around their finger.
Huh, was she seriously planning on striking out on her own with that pale face of hers? "Wait wait wait, that's just going to get you hurt. You look like even a breeze could knock you out, you know." He blurted out hands wringing nervously in front of him. But he could also understand. He wouldn't trust others to look for Raindrop either. But he also couldn't leave any girl alone and vulnerable, that was just plain wrong. Struggling to find a compromise between his two ideals, He finally settled on something that he thought maybe would be appealing to both of them.
"How about this. I'll accompany you while you go look for your partner? I'm not in any rush to go anywhere anyway and it's not too much of a bother for me to do this." he proposed, giving Caddie what he hoped was a comforting smile. "I'm just kinda worried that you'll hurt yourself."
Racer had long since retreated from the battle. Just as Caddie though, Racer knew that he wasn't strong enough to fight that Ninetales. So, in the commotion, he had slipped away. He had traveled a few yards away from the chaos and was frantically searching for Caddie. He crashed through the undergrowth, calling out frantically.

With a squeak, she used Thunder shock on the creature angrily. Riko didn't even flinch, which only fueled her rage. Her fur changed color, instead of the golden brown and grey fur from before, she was now purple and black, with eyes as red as Riko's. She used thunder shock again.
Breathing out a sigh of relief, Kaoru stuck close to Caddie while looking around. Even Raindrop joined in the search, the small pokemon leaping out of her trainer's arms to waddle around. The water fish pokemon trudged through the undergrowth, mindlessly search. Small cries occasionally left Raindrop's mouth as she slowly meandered closer towards Racer.
Kaoru grimaced as he leaned down, searching high and low for the panda like pokemon. His back had turned from a dull throb or discomfort into what felt like arcs of electricity running down his spine. Wooper toxin really was powerful stuff, huh he thought grimly shooting a glance at Caddie. She seemed desperate, who wouldn't when they were missing their closest partner? But he found slight comfort that she didn't look like she was going to fall over and not get up.
"I don't quite understand what you mean by that, I am perfectly content with carrying out interactions over different forms of communication." They confusion flickering over their face. A hand came up to hold their chin as Valentine pondered over what Ashia had told them. "The world will not change simply because I have not stepped outside for a few months." Except when it did, once upon a time. However, anomalies always occurred within data and while noteworthy, it did not change the overall findings.
Filling away his concerns for a later date, Valentine inclined their head, a brief wave of their arm indicating for Ashia to take the lead. "By all means, if you wish to do so I have no objections." They agreed easily. They didn't have any visible pokeballs upon their person but that wasn't of any concern. Valentine knew that their pokemon would come when called.
The male’s sturdy form blocked the entrance to the cave, eager to prey on the trainers who were coming back. His bone grazed the skull like headware that he wore, and came away burning with violet-blue flame. He wasn’t alone, as the broad lantern-like form of a Chandelure - Ruhn - and the Froslass - Jinn - were with him, a similar predatorily vicious aura surrounding them. Spotting Brook, Abraxos growled in pleasure, waving his bone-staff in the air, signaling to the Ninetails ahead that he would be taking Brook. Not that she really cared, anyway.
It wasn’t hard to deduce that Abraxos was much more feral than sensible, at least compared to most of the other pokémon on the team. Whether it had something to do with the transition of mortal to ghost, or something else in his upbringing, no one really could tell. And now, faced with fresh, helpless terrified prey that was more vulnerable than a sitting ducklett, he felt that there shouldn’t be any waiting.
“Check the rest of the tunnels.” Abraxos hissed to Jinn quietly, “If you find any others, they’re fair game.”
The Froslass scoffed before disappearing, just as the alolan marowak pounced on the trainer, leading with the violet flamed bone and a fierocious cry.
