The moonlight glimmered off metal before and arrow was shot out of the darkness, the weapon striking one of the monsters that was chasing the group. No one showed themselves, but from that one action alone, Alder knew who had accompanied them

"'nd why would I tell you even if I knew?" Kohaku scoffed, eyes flickering to the shadows where the arrow came from. He didn't know who shot it, but there was someone else on their side, protecting them.

Mercury shrugged a little, he didnt seem to have talked much at all. The arrow had kinda surprised him so he looked towards the direction it came from, then back to Alder "What Paths-?"

Tirik shrugged a little, then noted Alder's exhaustion. "You look like you haven't been able to access your energy reserves in a while. Want to me help with that?" He seemed to be talking like it was absolutely nothing, even though there was clear indication that he could make her energetic again. "It's just a few pressure points and you'll be in sprinting shape in no time." He gave her a half smile.

Ah, so you, O Mysterious and Curious Soul, have come to seek answers in the abyss?

Ebony's hands were shaking. She could feel her heart pounding in her chest as waves of fear swept over her. This was too much, too much for her already damaged brain. This was chaos to her, insanity. Her eyes start twitching, her vision turns red. "Insanity." she whispers, taking a breath. The sarcasm faded from her voice, and her usual sarcastic smirk is replaced with a look of pure horror.

Briar ducks behind a table, panting heavily. She closes her eyes, struggling to figure out how to stop this madness. She takes deep breaths, thinking hard. "Calm down... calm down..." she repeats these words as if they would work, but they don't.

His smile has a grip on me <3

Leaping down from his vintage point and pulling his hood up to conceal himself, Tsukasa went on ahead, paying visits to the next houses on the list. The first one he arrived in was in disarray, the fight having moved towards the kitchen. The combatant, a red haired girl, looked on the verge of panicking and Tsukasa took pity, drawing his bow. Aiming, he let out a breath and released the arrow. The window shattered as the arrow flew into the house, stabbing the monster in the throat and the young boy let himself smile. Hefting himself through the broken glass, he held a hand out to Briar. "I know this is all very confusing for you but currently your life is in danger. We must make haste for more will surely come." He warned. "Please, take my hand. I promise I will lead you to safety."

Briar looks up, surprise flashing in her eyes. She stands up but does not take his hand. She pulls her hair back, and brushes it out of her eyes. The surprise is replaced by determination and she stops shaking. (Will add more later)

Akira looked up at Alder, one of her cat ears twitching a bit. "No...? I'm not sure what you mean, but does it have to do with the fact that I can talk to cats now???" She still seemed very confused about the whole thing.

Tsukasa didn't seem to take offense to Briar refusing to take his head and stead walked over to the wall where only an arrow remained, the monster having turned to dust. Yanking the arrow out, he inspected the weapon and deemed it reusable before returning it to his quiver which lay slung behind his hip. "Very well, let us make haste. You are far from the only person who is in danger tonight." Exiting from the window, Tsukasa made his way through the neighborhood, occasionally checking to make sure that Briar was following him

Alder noted the arrow that had shot past, and let out a rather annoyed sigh. "You took your time," she called to the boy that she could not see, though she knew who it was - he had been at camp with her, and was also ordered to accompany these people back. Hearing Kohaku's comment, she turned to him. "You should tell me because it may spare your life," she snarled, though not exactly aggressively. She then turned to Mercury with a sigh. "Path of the Gods." Her next words were directed at everyone. "Each of you, whether unknowingly or not, are currently following a Path of a certain God. These Paths allow you to tap into their abilities, and, in some cases, call on them to help you." She was just reciting what she had been told, mostly because she already hardly remembered the day she was attacked. It was in the past, now. Then another comment rang in her ears - someone else offering to help her. Didn't these people ever take a hint? "For the last time," she growled, "I don't need your help." Turning to Sira, she let out a rather forced laugh. "That's not exactly what a Path is..." A sigh almost escaped her as Akira said her part. "Yes. Finally someone gets something right. The only God that has anything to do with cats would probably be..." She struggled to remember the Cat Goddesses name for a moment. "Bast." By this point, Alder was as pale as a sheet, having completely exhausted her energy stores. She still had a job to do, though. "Questions later. Follow me." And with that, she started towards Long Island at a slow jog, though she could barely manage. There was no doubt that Tsukasa would catch up, so she didn't pause to look for him.

Turning a corner, Tsukasa could see Alder and her group and picked up the pace. His own attack had been slightly abnormal having occurred overseas while he was away on a business trip. He had been sent back as soon as he fled from the mysterious monster and began a brief training at a foreign camp. Jogging up to Alder he nodded silently hood still up to conceal any telling features. "I shall advance first and pave the way." He murmured his voice leaving little room for argument. "I leave the new ones in your care."

Kohaku gnashed his teeth but otherwise stayed silent, falling back to walk at the back of the group. As a cloaked figure joined them along with a new red haired girl, he squinted at the person who was conversing with Alder. They seemed familiar but he could quite place his figure so dismissed it, instead keeping a look out for any potential attacks from the rear. Hearing that gods were real was frankly not the most surprising thing he has heard yet. When you work for a family of declining aristocrats, you hear some pretty weird things

"You're acting.. Stranger than usual." Alder smirked. "And do you really think it wise to leave newbies under my watch?" She was still struggling to keep going, but was somehow managing, despite the exhaustion tugging at her every movement. Taking a quick look around, she took out a cigarette and lit it, puffing out smoke. She knew it was wrong to be smoking at her age, but honestly, she couldn't care less. She then turned, so she was jogging backwards. "I said no questions," she barked at Sira, before turning back, and muttering to Tsukasa, "Are you scared?" It was the only reasonable explanation she could think of - he was keeping his hood up, which suggested hiding himself.

Bristling at the suggestion, Tsukasa breathed through his nose, letting it out with all the exasperation a 16 year old child could store in his tiny body. "I believe you said no questions?" He raised an eyebrow, pointedly giving a disproving gaze at the cigarette but making no move to stop her. They all coped in weird ways so Tsukasa couldn't fault Alder for picking up smoking no matter how destructive it could spiral into. "That aside, you can be dependable on occasion and when the opportunity calls for it. At least, that is what I believe. Do try and stay on your feet until we return. I shall pick up anyone else who may require our assistance."

With a nod, Alder picked up her pace, hoping the newbies could keep up. She had no comment on the fact that he thought she was reliable enough for this, but was actually rather pleased with it. Puffing out another plume of smoke, she let her eyes scan the surrounding area, alert for any more monsters. If she had remembered to bring her dagger, this job may have gone differently, but once again her memory had failed her. At least she had brought her wand. Taking the cigarette from her mouth and holding it in her hand, she broke into a run, wanting to gain ground on the Beasts.

Taking the nonverbal queue, Tsukasa went ahead sending a quick prayer to the goddess on who's path he walked on. The next house which held another potential candidate came surprisingly close and Tsukasa had to wonder if these neighborhoods just naturally drew in monsters. The girl who was in the room didn't seem too shaken though she was paralyzed by fear. A natural reaction, he supposed as he drew his bow again, picking off the monster who terrorized Ebony. "I understand that you are quite confused currently." He said smoothly as he made himself known to the girl. "However, your life is in danger. If you can trust me to bring you to safety, please follow me." With that, Tsukasa resumed his little journey, occasionally glancing back to see if Ebony took his offer

Ebony had, at this point, given up. She is curled up in a ball behind a table, closing her eyes and shaking. In her troubled mind, this was insanity and she didn't deal well with insanity. She attempts to peek up and lets out a shriek, seeing two things. The first thing being some sort of beast/monster. The other being a mirror. The only thing she hated more then insanity and chaos, was mirrors. Now, Ebony was an attractive girl, but being someone with the mental problems that she has, mirrors are practically evil.

When it became clear that Ebony was not following, Tsukasa frowned. Yes it would be hard to trust and follow a cloaked figure who suddenly came out of nowhere but it would be best to keep moving. Yet, he couldn't find it in himself to turn his back on someone who could potentially be someone who walks down a powerful road. Doubling back, Tsukasa returned to where he had left Ebody, finding the girl curled up and the beast reforming. Well that wouldn't do would it. Kneeling down beside Ebony, Tsukasa notched another arrow, drawing his bow smoothly. His aim this time was off, only grazing the beast but the mirror shattered from the impact, shards of glass sent flying everywhere. Well, that was as good as a distraction as any. "Are you well? If you are, then please flee. If you are not, then I will simply carry you away to safety."
