"Your face is redder then Mallory's hair." Rose says casually. Her
eyes register the name before the rest of her does. She flinches
slightly but passes it off as another hair brush.

"Well one time..." Gateguard began retelling stories about his
family, embarrassing moments such as having to change his younger
sibling's diapers, to slightly dangerous adventures the family
experienced. Some where hilarious, some were scary, but he all kept
them fairly light and amusing, distracting Nova from the lurching
of the aircraft.
Nova smiled as she listened, the stories were amusing to her but
then something tugged at her as the hovercraft continued to lurch.
"I hate to ask. . .but what happened to your parents?"
Echo let out an exaggerated gasp, bringing a hand to his chest.
"Well I don't know who Mallory is, but I am most certain my face is
not red!" He hadn't realized how close they were to the base of 13,
until it had caught the corner of his eye. It had been a fairly
short trip, feeling hours faster than on his way to find Rose.
Rose takes off her pendent. In a sense, it can work as a mirror.
She holds it up to his face wordlessly. She tries, and fails, to
hide her amusement and puts the pendent back on when he's done
looking,

Echo seemed rather flustered when he had seen his reflection,
grasping for words just out of reach. He huffed, once more angling
his body away. This had definitely been one of the strangest days
of his life, he decided, as he stopped walking.
Rose stopped when he stopped. She rose an eyebrow and slowly let go
of his hand, almost reluctantly. She looks at him, as if waiting
for him to say something.

Adelaide leaned into her friend's embrace, letting her worries rest
while she fully indulged Kardia in a warm embrace. Maybe she could
forget it, just for once. At least, one person she cared about was
alive. She couldn't help but make her purring a little louder,
"Thanks, Scorpius. I think Im going to part for
bed."
"Do you want to head back?" Echo finally asked, gesturing towards
District 13, the place they had awoken after the disruption of the
games. "You seemed pretty upset there." He shoved his hands inside
his pockets when Rose had let go, a small frown growing on his
face.
Rose looked at the building. Her eyes became distant, as if she was
staring at something only she could see. "Remember, at the
beginning of the games, when I had told you that I'd survived once
I could survive again?"

Echo slowly nodded, he pulled his hand back out of his pocket,
slowly reaching it back out to her. He had a feeling he understood
what she was saying, and Rose would likely need some reassurance,
right? He stared at her, trying to get a read on her expression. He
wasn't sure who he had lost here, but he did now that loss was a
hard feeling to overcome.
Rose allows him to take her hand. She closes her eyes and turns her
head upward, as if looking at the moon. "13 'rescued' us." she says
bitterly. "I was in a room with three other girls." she continues.
"Mallory. She had been my ally in the arena, she had cherry red
hair and was from three." she lists the other girls. "Catrina. She
was 13 at the time, she's here now. I think shes from 5. Maybe 6."
she pauses. "And then Gale. From 2." she hesitates. "Gale left for
two immediately. Catrina stayed with her cousin. Her cousins name
was Emmie. She was in the games this year." she looks torn.
"Mallory stayed with me. Until that horrible night we went down to
a river." her voice is barely audible. "Where she cut her head, and
drowned." her voice cracks.

Echo frowned, as he realized that the story she told had not been
one he was expecting. He had expected perhaps she had died in a
battle. Did this train of thought show he really was a child
murderer, was he bad for thinking such a thing? He thought about
Gale. He hadn't thought he had known anyone by that name, and he
briefly wondered about his and Rose's first encounter. Had she
blamed his district for Gale leaving, was she upset by him or his
actions? He shook his head slightly, trying to focus back on Rose.
"I'm... sorry. I'm sorry that had to happen to you."
"Maybe you have changed." Rose murmured. "The Echo I know would
have hit me and walked away in disgust." she says. "Then again, the
Echo I know wouldn't have let me kiss him." she amends. She avoids
his eyes. She hugs herself. "I'm cold. I think I'll go to bed."

Chakti had thanked Leaf and Harlow, maybe a bit too much, for
allowing him to be the Godfather to their kids. Then, a medic had
come running up, looking for him. He had sighed, said a quick
goodbye, and followed the staff member back, greeting Tempest with
a "You didn't miss me as much as the staff did, right?" and a
mischievous grin. He laid down, stretching out and settling his
body on the strange bed. He wouldn't call it "comfortable," but it
was better than the holding cells. He called a medic back in later,
asking about Emmie.
The medic looks worried. "You may as well not call her Emmie
anymore." she murmurs. "Poor girl. Amnesia." she says, casting a
worried look at Chakti. "Doesn't know who she is or where she's
from. She didn't recognize her cousin..." the medic shakes her
head. "The doctor has been trying to help but no luck."

Echo nodded, though Rose likely wouldn't see. He stuffed his hand
back in his pocket, making his way back behind her. He let out a
puff of air, staring up at the sky through squinted eyes. Finally
he was indoors, the rough terrain outdoors replaced by smooth
flooring. He wasn't sure what to do at this point.
Chakti sat up. "Pardon? Amnesia?" He stepped out of the bed again,
asking the medic to show him where she was. He followed the medic
closely, making sure not to lose him in the twists and turns of the
infirmary building. All the while, he was clenching and unclenching
his fist, not having another hand to wring.
Rose finds her bed and lies down. She pulls a make shift blanket
over her shoulders. "Good night." she murmurs, promptly closing her
eyes.
Emmie stares at the doctor as he explains to her her name and her
district again. "That doesn't make sense." she keeps saying. When
the doctor calls her Emmie she frowns. "That was my old name. But I
don't remember." she says sadly.
The medic opens the door to where Emmie and the doctor are. She
takes a deep breath and lets him pass.

Chakti stepped inside slowly, catching Emmie's eye. "Emms? Do you
recognize me?" He put on a face he'd used at the pool, where their
alliance had first traken flight. "It's me. Chakti?" His voice was
quiet, his movements slow. He stepped over to the side of her bed,
kneeling down, trying not to scare her.
