"I'm going to grab my sister! She'll give us mints and stuff. Then,
once we get the food, I'll answer any questions you have, kay?" She
didn't wait for and answer, just dashed out of their sight, moving
towards the counter. She wanted to tell her sister about the
pokemon so far, as she knew her sibling had been curious about them
since they'd arrived on the border.
That left Noba and Fen alone. They sat in silence for an awkward
few seconds. Noba had to be in the same predicament as Fen, right?
All of his reasoning led to that... he decided to mutter something
inconspicuous: "Human too?" It was easy enough to brush off as a
mistake or nothing, but he would know what he was talking about if
he had the same problem. Besides, fen wanted answers.
“Thoust would be correct....by that I mean yes.” Noba sighed. “100%
human, through and through. And 100% with amnesia too.” He had a
certain way with his words.
Fen smiled, his confidence boosted since he was correct. Noba
seemed a little awkward in the way he spoke... "Ah, so thee and i
has't the same predicament." He said, partially to relieve his own
stress, and partially to relieve Nobas. "Sorry... I really need to
brush up on my old english."
Yoru came back with her sister, Yami. The sister in question was a
shiny zorua in work uniform, carrying mints and cream-colored
plates to the table. "So, Yoru, did you figure out if they were
from the dark woods?" She said in a friendly, joking manner. "Also,
you forgot to take down your illusion."
Yoru shook her head and looked at her Mew paws a second later. "Oh!
Oops." Doing a back flip, Yoru went back into the form of a regular
Zorua. "Sorry about that! Mythical pokemon don't live here!" She
pointed at the shiny Zorua. "This is Yami. My sister." She then
jumped on one of the seats and grabbed a mint.
Noba just blushed at that. “Oh you don’t need to try and speak like
me. I just...studied a lot of old texts back then...it’s all I can
remember at the moment, and I picked up a few things...” he
murmured. He could sense the uneasiness in Fen and was trying to
think of a way to comfort him
Ah, so that answered Fen's question about the two of them being
sisters. He nodded at Yami. "I'm Fen," He indroduced himself
politely, still a little on edge. Was now the right time to send
down his avalanche of questions? Fen didn't think so.
Noba looked over at Fen. He had just thought of a way he could help
his nerves. He was a Growlithe now and he DID have warm fluffy
fur...not to mention a soft stomach. He shuffled over to Fen and
gently sidled up to him, letting his warm fur fluff over him a
little
Fen didn't move, but he did notice that Noba was pressing into him.
Was he trying to get comforted, or was he trying to comfort Fen?
Either way, the fluffy warm fur was nice... He leaned back a
little. Already, he felt closer to Noba (figuratively and
literally). Noba seemed awkward and kind, and they both used to be
humans. Fen figured he could trust Noba.
Yami smiled and walked away. "Enjoy the buffet! And Yoru, keep me
updated!" she called over her shoulder.
Yoru, meanwhile, grunted in response and watched the rockruff and
growlithe cuddle. "Stop killing me with cuteness and get your
freaking food!" She pointed toward the buffet. Okay, there was no
way they were from the dark woods, that place was too spooky for
this.
Noba chuckled and stood up. “I suppose...we should get some food.”
He went up to look for some. He wasn’t really expecting what he
found there. He just brought back what he thought looked good and
ate it
Fen felt his stomach growl like a pyroar at the mention of food. He
was feeling pretty hungry. He looked at Yami with a smile.
"Thanks!" He trotted over toward the buffet, tripping just once
(hey, a new record!). He filled his plate with mostly meat (yeah,
he had a bad diet, probably made worse by being a rockruff), and a
berry or 2, and brought it back to the table. It was quite a bit,
but Fen knew he would be able to finish it. He began wolfing down
the food (mind the pun). "Wow," He said, his mouth still a little
full. "This is delicious!" He nodded his thanks at Yoru.
Yoru smiled and brought back her own food in a slight rush. She was
less hungry and more curious as to what the newcomers had to say,
so she set down a rather underfilled plate of food, which was fine
by her. "So, since you're new here, anything you'd like to ask?"
You could tell by her tone she was really intrigued.
“...I suppose all I really have is why was I brought here?
But...I’m not sure anyone would have that answer.” Noba replied as
he finished his food and sat back, with an uncertain look on his
face. He held up a paw uncertainly and looked at it
Fen swallowed a bite. "First of all, where are we? Tell me about
the town and the surrounding area," He decided. This question might
help him figure out some more important things. He tried to contain
his curiosuty and ask just one question at a time, but already he
felt more questions ready themselves in his mind.
Midnight woke up with a small sigh, yawning. It had been a while
since she was turned into an Absol, but she enjoyed the face that
she was a pokemon. It was her dream to be one.
Yoru answered Noba's question first. "You were brought here because
pokemon found you on the border and knew you needed help. You were
out for a while...and the word's been buzzing through the town ever
since." She turned to Fen next. "The town is basically a city, but
smaller than the average 'big city' so we call it our town. Many
pokemon here live next to shops and restaurants, as well as fun
parks and stuff. The surrounding area...well, the only significant
part of that is the Dark Woods, also the exit path, but that just
leads you elsewhere. It was where you were found."
It wasn’t quite the answer to the question he asked but he just
accepted it for now. He looked over at the others, trying to
discern what was going on. They couldn’t have been brought here out
of a whim right? Being spirited away like that doesn’t happen
without reason...
Fen nodded. That wasn't as much information as he would like, but
he could live with that. "So... what kind of creatures live here?
Just pokemon?" Fen asked, trying to get a lead on how he and Noba
had been transformed, and why.
