"Hah, I'm sure I've seen things much worse," Lucius laughed, no longer holding it back. He stop laughing abruptly and turned back to the Scatterbug. While it was weak, he threw a pokeball at it.

It shook once... twice... finally three times... ding!

Congratulations, you have caught a Scatterbug!

Lucius picked up his pokeball and held it up with pride before giving an evil smile to Henry.

"See, now you're shivering you little pup," Erika laughed. Scout raised his chin proudly, ignoring his quivering body. She shook her head and held the Poochyena to her chest in an effort to warm it up. "Hey, Marla!" Erika finally called once she figured that the other girl was within earshot.

Erika caught up and followed her pace. "Do you have any pokeballs I can borrow? I'll buy you more afterwards once I get money. I think it'd be nice to have someone else on my team before we hit the town."

"Short guy? You should be more embarrassed since you're not only tall but you're also a scaredy-cat," Lucius responded before making a serious face. "You... do know the first gym's going to be bug-type, right?" he asked, raising one eyebrow. Will he even survive? Lucius thought, imagining his reaction to all the bug-type pokemon there.

"It's not a requirement, yes, but it makes you look more dumb," Lucius snorted and put the pokeball in his bag. "... hey, what's your starter anyway?" he asked. Yuumei seemed to be curious too, looking up at Henry with large eyes.

"I'm not dumb!" Henry crosses his arms. As if he heard the Question, Lillipup pops his head over Henry's shoulder and barks loudly.

Yuumei was startled by the Lillipup and let out an accidental discharge of electricity. "A Lillipup? They do grow to be loyal partners..." Lucilius mumbled, stroking his chin. "Well, let's fight!" he said abruptly with a sharp smirk.

Erika glanced backwards and grinned slightly at Marla as she walked. Scout jumped out of Erika's arms and sniffed around. "There aren't really all that many cool pokemon around here, but... I'm sure we could find something!" She told herself cheerfully.

Marla glanced up after watching her feet make marks in the snow. "A frozen over lake? Cool." she breathes out as she walks up to it.

After a bunch of walking (and three battles), the two were tired and had essentially gone in a giant circle. "There are no good pokemon around here," Erika grumbled bitterly. Scout whined in quiet agreement, sucking on a bottle of potion. He had discovered a pocket in Erika's coat that he could fit in and was lying rather comfortably inside. "I'm going to give up hope if I don't find something worth--"

She blinked, seeing something glimmering through the trees. The surface of a frozen lake. "...Hm." She mumbled, exchanging a curious glance with Scout. The two went towards it.

"I do hope I find a good Pokémon." Marla says absentmindedly to Mei, who was in her coat pocket and chittering her name softly. Marla wanders around as she partially zips her pocket, leaving enough space fpr Mai to breath and move slightly.

Erika approached the lake, glancing into it. There was movement from underneath it. Bingo.

"I've got an idea," She mumbled, standing on the surface. She slid for a moment and almost completely fell, but caught herself in time. Scout jumped out of her pocket, startled, and looked at the ice to ensure it was strong enough to hold her weight.

"I'm taking it that you've accepted the challenge since your Lillipup sure did," Lucius pointed at his Lillipup. Yuumei jumped out of Lucius's hands to bark back at Henry's Lillipup. "Ooor they can just play around," he mumbled.

Marla glanced up in direction of Erika, who was on the other side of the frozen pond. She raises her eyesbrows and snorts slightly as she steps onto the ice herself, finding it slightly easy to walk.
