Today was a special day, as today was the day the famous Benton Family held a Gala, and most of the town was coming. How could they not? It was a public event and incredibly high class to boot. Anyone who didn't come to enjoy themselves would be fools. This was a once in a lifetime experience. Even James, for all his awkwardness, was dressing up for the occasion, although it was to take Corrie. He was wearing a rather expensive white tux for this, his hair neatly combed.
Apparently the Gala was meant to celebrate the Benton's Eldest son 21st birthday. Same age as he was then. James had completely forgotten his name, only that he was named after a famous ancient city.
Weird that the kid still haven't found his soulmate yet, though James supposed he couldn't talk. He still hadn't found his yet either. James let a sigh escape him as he stared at the cursive writing on his wrist, that read "Sorry". He wondered what he did to make his soulmate apologize like that.
"James! I'm ready!" He heard Corrie yell. He saw her walking towards him. She was wearing a short casual blue dress, which was somehow enticing without being revealing. Her hair was done up in an elegant crown braid, a few strands escaping and framing her face. She wore no make up, because she looked much better with a natural look. Around her neck and wrist was matching accessories.
Corrie looked excited, and he was glad she stopped thinking about the writing that had appeared on her wrist some time ago.
"Let's go!" Corrie said brightly, hooking her arm into his, before the both of them left for the Gala.
She had already gotten ready, with makeup and everything. Oliver smiled. Her purple hair was tied up in a long ponytail, and it was curly as it reached her lower back. She looked up at him, with red eyeshadow and beautiful winged eyeliner. She stood, and her red dress swayed to her mid thighs. She was very beautiful. Oliver gave her a sweet smile, and she returned it.
"Ready for me to do your makeup?" She hummed, making him nod. They both entered the bathroom again, and she started to do his eye makeup. She used a pastel pink eyeshadow, and black for eyeliner. The wings were soft, but gorgeous. She was great at makeup. She finished in about ten minutes, only doing his eyes. They really popped. She grabbed a beige lipstick, and spread it across his lips.
When they were both ready, they left the bathroom, and they both grabbed their purses. They left the home, and started heading to the ball. Both of their heel pairs clicked along the sidewalk, as they casually chatted and giggled over stupid things.
he chuckled and looked himself over as he looked at how the suit fit him, smiling genuinely happy.
i fit your tux when you were my age pretty well don't ya think dad...? i think i pull this off well... he thought, sighing quietly as he looked over at the family portrait he had of him when he just turned two, his father and his mother when she was pregnant with alicia and discovered he was going to be a big brother.

Alicia was in the bathroom in her brother's house doing her makeup while keeping a towel around her neck so she didn't ruin her dress with her makeup, which was a simple bit of foundation, a light red lipstick, blush, and a slightly dark eye shadow to make her eye's pop.
oh i hope this makeup doesn't make me look weird....! it's the first time of done really nice makeup by myself and not by adam, i'd be embarrassed if my makeup was all funky...!'' she thought, a bit worried.
She was sitting on his bed, her nose in a book. She looked up when he walked in and he carefully sat down next to her. She had her hair up elegantly on top of her head, and was wearing a violet dress with matching shoes. She was also wearing matching gold earrings and a necklace. She burst out laughing when she saw him. "Wow Troye, you look like you're going to get married!" She said. Troye grimaced and adjusted one of his gloves to further cover the writing on his wrist. Lise looked at him and stopped laughing. "Sorry... I didn't mean anything by it." She said. Troye shook his head. "It's fine." He said.
Troye got up nd held out his arm and Lise shook her head, but took it anyway. Together, they walked to the giant ballroom where the gala would be held. There were tables full of snacks on one side, and there were two staircases leading up to a balcony overlooking the rest of the room. There were cicular tables and chairs opposite the food, and the middle was where they would have the dance. The decorations were brght gold and everything sparkled. Lise and Troye climbed one of the staircases and disappeared behind the doors. He was instructed to wait until he was announced, and Lise left for the door to greet everyone. Troye sighed and waited.
Corrie had wandered off, probably to get some water for the both of them. Meanwhile, James was stuck trying to navigate the crowd on his own. He kept on bumping into people, having to apologize or excuse himself each time.
Meanwhile, Corrie was sampling some of the food provided, which was obviously delicious. She was having a lot of fun, even if the place was so crowded. She didn't think it was possible to not bump into someone very few minutes at this point.
He let out a quiet "Oof!" As he rammed into someone. He was dazed for a moment, gripping onto the front of their shirt. He looked up at the individual, his bright blue eyes scared. He gulped, and studied the other softly. He had blonde hair and blue eyes. The other's eyes looked lilac to him, but they certainly could be the purple shade. He let out a quiet gasp, and let go of his shirt. Oliver's face heated. "Sorry! I'm so sorry!" He said, shaking softly.
Mavet was getting a drink, and hummed as she swallowed some punch. She smiled and pressed the cup to her lips again, drinking some more of the sweet liquid. She wasn't sure exactly how to put it, but it tasted.... Really good.
Troye walked out hilding Elsie's hand and waved with a bright smile. He quickly ran over his short little welcoming speech in his head and looked at the audience. He had practiced talking in front of people for years, so he wasn't nervous. "Welcome and thank you all for coming! It's a pleasure to see all of your smiling faces here today." He said, pausing for a moment to watch Elsie lean over the balcony and wave at everyone. He chuckled before turning back to the crowd. "Well, as tou can see, my younger sister is excited so I won't take up too much of your time. We'll just start off with some casual mingling, and get to the formal gala fesitivties shortly. Please enjoy yourselves and have a wonderful evening!" He said, and with a final wave.
The person had bright blue eyes and curly red hair to his mid-neck, and if James dared to say it, very pretty as well. At first he though the person was a girl, but further examination told him he was a boy. Deciding it was rude to stare, James looked away.
"Please Excuse me," He said, at the same time the person apologized. His heart picked up as he realized the other just said sorry as his first sentence. A quick examination of his wrist only confirmed it; the writing was starting to fade, meaning he had just met his soulmate.
While James was panicking a little Corrie was still by the snack table. She had tried to get back to her brother but the crowd had been too hard to navigate, so she ended up stranded. At least here she had a good view of the eldest Benton son who this gala was supposed to celebrate.
"Oh my god." He murmured. He looked back up into the boy's eyes, and swallowed. He gave a very awkward, soft smile, and his face was covered in a hot red blush. "Well... Hi." He said, voice a little high-pitched. He gave a sweet smile, and gave a little, dorky wave. He giggled.
Mavet was completely unaware of the current situation Oliver was in, and was too engulfed in the punch to care. She loved punch. On her fourth little glass, she swallowed it daintily.
She was giddy almost. She swore that there was something in this drink, but she didn't really care. Finding her soulmate sounded really fun right now.
by the time they got there they rushed inside and were looking around in amazement.
''wow....! this place is so beautiful!'' Alicia gasped, her eye's gleaming with pure excitement, though hesitant to enter the large crowd of people.
Adam chuckled and patted her on the head.
''relax Ali, if you need me call, if someone try's to kidnap you though? scream and kick them where the sun doesn't shine, i'll come get you afterward's'' he said.
she nodded and the both of them went they're separate ways to go explore and mingle with the other guests.
(i wasn't home D= but i've caught up!)
Unfortunately, the only thing he managed to say was a soft "Hi." in return, then a "You look nice." James was really bad at this. His soulmate probably thought he was weird now. If only Corrie was here...
Oblivious to her brother's situation, Corrie was still at the table. She had been about to drink some punch, but stopped when she saw what it did to a girl next to her. It had probably been spiked with alcohol, as was the norm. She wisely decided not to drink it and was holding a glass of water in her hands instead. So far the gala was uneventful, she hadn't even got the chance to dance with anyone!
He looked up at the other male. He gave a soft, nervous, and overall awkward smile, his cheeks tinted red. His ear tips were also pretty red, and his lips quivered. "I can't believe I finally met you..." Without his knowledge, his eyes were become wet. He realized this and let out a little gasp. He blinked them back, and looked away. "Sorry, I just... I've been dreaming of this moment. Ever since I knew what the tattoo meant, I've been so excited for this moment." He apologized, voice wavering softly.
Mavet tossed her cup into closest trash can she saw, and leaned against the wall. She crossed her arms across her chest slowly, and her eyes studied the crowd of people. She sighed, and glanced at her wrist. With a shake of her head, she looked back at the crowd slowly.
he licked a bit of it off his lips and stood there for a moment, then got a bit more, just below a full cup this time, and went over and leaned against the wall near the table and a girl that clearly looked like she had a bit to much punch to drink.
Adam sent a quick text about the punch to his sister for a warning and sighed, taking a sip from the cup.
''going to have to have my sister drive me home....'' he muttered to himself, though a tiny bit louder then he intended.
~~~
Alicia read the text as she stood at the snack table and grumbled, narrowing her eye's slightly.
''you stupid idiot....'' she muttered, then put her phone away in her purse and grabbed a plate, putting a few thing's on it before going over and sat down on the floor, leg's crossed and dress over her leg's while she leaned back against the wall and nibbled on some of the food.
He had just finished chatting with a smaller group of people and had just managed to escape. He wandered over to the punch himself, but was wise enough not to grab a glass. He wasn't much of a fan of alcohol. He was again met with two other girls, whom he kindly greeted and thanked them for coming. He decided to greet as many people as he could. He quickly fixed his gloves, making sure one of them covered the writing on his wrist. He never wanted to see that again. He eventually made his way over to Corrie. "Hello my dear. Enjoying the gala?" He asked politely.
she grabbed her phone and plugged it into her phone, putting only one earbud in her ear as she brought up some music that she like and started listening to it.
she hummed along quietly and glanced at the writing on her wrist, sighing quietly.
i wonder when i'll meet my soulmate.... she wondered.
Alicia, without really realizing since she was lost in thought, started to sing one part a bit aloud.
''I'd drive through the night, Just to be near you baby, Heart open, testified, Tell me that I'm not crazy..'' she sang quietly, though loud enough for the girl next to her to catch.
~~~~~
Adam looked at Mavet and smiled, chuckling quietly.
''you seem rather bored'' he said.
he stood up straight and finished off his drink, then tossed the cup away.
she showed Lise her wrist and stopped the music she was listening to and put her phone and earbuds away.
''u-um...... h-h-hi...'' she stammered shyly, since she couldn't really think up anything to talk about, and she already gave the answer about the writing on her wrist to Lise.
