You may have noticed that the general activity on PokeHeroes has decreased a bit lately. There haven't been any new bigger updates; there weren't many Event Distribution - and now there hasn't even been a spectacular event on New Year's Eve. Many of you were deeply disappointed - understandably. Fully understandable. I think it is needless to say that I am very sorry for this, I'm always trying my best not to let you guys down. But at the end of last year, the circumstances were sadly a bit different than in the years before. Let me explain why:

The beginning of 2016 was great - we've hit a new interaction record on January 13th; we've reached a huge milestone of 10 Million adopted Pokémon and we've also celebrated the grand opening of the Emera Beach! Things looked very promising.
But during the end of summer, things started to go a little south, especially behind the scenes - stuff that you normally don't really see. We've had the big Nugget Fraud in August (which you were all informed about), we had some issues with people who were trying to bring this website down with criminal actions, and some other problems that I don't really want to specify here now. Luckily that's all past now, so don't worry about that. But let me just say that it's been very stressful for me.
And when things on PH were at its very low for me, Real Life decided to participate in this and gave me a huge kick in the butt. :b Again, I don't want to go into detail here. Just that much: There have been sudden changes in my private life that I was not prepared for and which were a huge motivation killer - on top of all the stress that PH was already giving me.

And that was when I decided that I needed a break from everything. I really needed to slow things down - both on PokeHeroes and in my real life. I had to think about what's really important to me and how my future plans look like. I had to think about how I can be a good admin for this game and also be a happy admin. PokeHeroes has never been a job for me; it has always been a hobby. I do it because web programming is my passion and I also do it because I like offering you guys a great game that many people can enjoy every day. It's always a huge satisfaction when a new released feature or event receives positive feedback from you.
(On a side note, I do have a real job, actually. I work twice to three-times a week to be able to pay for my private life stuff (travelling, food, games etc.). I just never talk about stuff like that in public; I guess I'm not someone who likes to share details about his life outside of PokeHeroes.)
And the point is... this break really helped me clearing my mind and finding ways to achieve exactly this: Managing PokeHeroes as a fun hobby. Not as something stressful. And not as something that I do because "I have to".

So for the future I have planned to work on projects a little more different than I'm used to. Things like: Planning holiday seasons much earlier so I'm not stressed about Christmas Events during Mid-December. Or also involving the PH community much more in the process again - by looking what you guys actually want and by gathering feedback during the project planning. I want to be much more structured, so things are fun instead of pressuring. And hey - again - that's the purpose of this site: fun.


To conclude this text, I'd like to stress that all of these negative things are history now. I'm not telling you all of this to explain that things will continue to be bad in the future - no. I'm also not telling you this for pity - things have honestly been going strongly upwards again for me in the last few weeks. I am telling you because finally I found strength and motivation again to fully commit myself to the PokeHeroes community and to have fun again with my coding passion. The break may have been annoying, but it really helped.
