''you do realize we didn't get a chance to pay for our tea right? that and i left my sweater...'' he mumbled, sniffling a bit while wiping his eyes with his free hand.
"Just... go, I'll meet you at my place and pay you back there," she stammered, slipping her hand away and quickly walking off.

if we left without paying i hope she does realize she could loose her job and we'd both get locked up for a couple days.... he thought, a little nervous now about how the owner would react.

but soon that silence was shattered by a market stall owner yelling at the top of they're lungs, a long string of curses, and the sound of guards shouting.
in a flash past the alleyway's entrance was a flash of silvery hair, a black tank top, camo jeans and combat boots, Crystal running for her life with her arms hugging a bag filled with food and a couple burly looking guards hot on her heels.
Crystal was sprinting as fast as her legs could carry her, breathing heavily and weaving around people occasionally.
''get back here you brat!'' shouted one of the guards.
she gulped and took a quick glance back at them, fear plastered on her face and turned to watch where she was going just as she tripped over an uneven bit of cobblestone, which sent her tumbling and the contents of her bag spilling everywhere.
soon the guards were upon her and the taller one grabbed a handful of her hair before she could even react and lifted her up to her feet, making her cry out in pain as she grabbed the guards hand and tried to free her hair.
''p-please don't hurt me...! i just wanted to get food for me and my friend, we're starving and don't have anymore money!'' she sobbed.
the shorter guard was running around picking up the food that went everywhere while the one keeping Crystal was looking down at her with a rather irritated expression.
''ugh, 'cause of you i had to cut my lunch break short ya little brat...'' the guard grumbled, letting her go and slapping her away, his claw like nails scratching up across her face just as she was falling and she sat there on the ground clutching her face, sobbing even harder as the guard went off to help his friend.
God, they're going to jail us... we don't even have IDs, he thought, knowing that they would be facing death when they were caught. He watched Crystal fall to the ground in the distance and anger seared through his chest. Jack, not having enough time to think comprehensively, slipped his knife out from his boot and slipped next to the nearest innocent to the guard.
He clenched his teeth and dug it into the stranger's flank--collateral damage, as he knew, was a wonderous distraction. A guttural scream rose all noise of the crowd and the two guards looked in their direction immediately; Jack was already bolting towards Crystal. He messily shoved his knife into his satchel as he ran, stopping only to kneel down by Crystal and pull her up by the underarms.
"Get up, run!" He hissed, knowing that they had a chance to lose the guards in the crowd. He glanced back as he was lifting her and saw that the shorter guard had stopped to interrogate the woman, the taller one still scanning the crowd to spot them. Jack grabbed Crystal's hand and sprinted left towards the marketplace, hoping that the crowd would cover them.

she still followed close to him, keeping a tight grip on his hand so they didn't get separated.
Jack slipped in between a narrow slit and slowed down slightly as he turned to the next alleyway to the left. He continued to lead Crystal through alleyways, gradually slowing down; he only stopped moving when they were hidden from the public eye by an underpass. "They... won't follow us this far just for stealing food. It's safe now, sit down," he suggested softly, slowly sitting down as well.

''m-my face hurts.... so does my right eye...'' she sniffled, pulling her hand away from her face without opening her eyes, that way Jack could look at her face.

Willow was behind the desk in the main lobby area of the apothecary sorting through the papers that were on the desk, humming softly to herself, wearing an off-white elbow-length dress that stopped at her knee's with bright floral patterns elegantly spiraling up the dress.
she had a brace on her arm that Rowan had accidentally twisted, being careful not to move it wrong.
Yuzuki was sitting off in a corner of the apothecary playing with the toys there and his plushie, very content where he sat.
"It's... not too deep. But I don't think you should open your eye right now--blood might get in it and I-i, um, don't think that's good for your eye." He dug through his satchel and pulled out the extra t-shirt that he wore in the warmer weather. "Cloth," he said as he lightly weaseled it into her hand. "You like... put pressure on wounds until they stop bleeding, right? T-that's a thing."
---------
Jinx emerged from the back room with a surgical mask obscuring her mouth from view. It was marked with sparse droplets of blood. She quickly took it off when she remembered that Yuzuki was in the room, not wanting to subject the young child to any gore. "How's your wrist feeling?" She asked softly, a bit worried about Willow's stubbornness; she had told her that it would be best to rest it and not come help at the apothecary, but, like Rowan, it was hard to convince her out of things.

''it's obvious you've never seen an injury like this one before...'' she teased lightly, handing him the t-shirt back before she pulled her boot off, patting the sole hard enough to knock a bag of coins loose and let it plop onto the ground.
she slipped her boot back on and felt around for a second before grabbing it and held it out to him.
''i pickpocketed enough while i was out we should have enough to go to an apothecary... i still have my ID on me at least so you don't have to worry about lying about forgetting it'' she said.
~~~~~~~~~~
Willow looked at Jinx and laughed a little bit, finding it really sweet that she was so worried even though it was just a simple sprain.
''it's fine for the twentieth time Jinx... as long as i don't move my wrist wrong it doesn't really hurt at all, besides i'm trying to make up for the order i missed last week.... if it weren't for Rowan dragging me away from my route there i probably would've gotten it delivered'' she said, looking down at her wrist with her ear's pinned back at the last part, ending her sentence on a bit of a more bitter tone towards Jinx's brother.
Willow sighed and simply brushed it off, going back to her work once she readjusted her metal headband that was keeping her bangs out of her face.
He gently took the bag of coins and stared at her face, his stomach churning not from the blood but the fear that the worst would happen.
Jack took a deep breath, "Okay. I'm sure we can just... ask someone where the nearest apothecary is, but bringing you out in public worries me. People would ask too many questions and there are too many guards just prancing around--we'd get caught. I... could go ask someone alone, but I'd have to leave you here and that'd be risky."
--------
Jinx gritted her teeth. The loving sister part of her wanted to defend Rowan--she hadn't asked, but she knew that he wouldn't have even talked to Willow if not for a good reason--but at the same time, she wanted to yell at him for harming Willow. "I'm sorry about him," she said instead with an exhausted exhale. It was the best she could do for now and she meant it.
"I worked it out with that client after you left, anyway; I think I forgot to mention. No sweat, yeah?" She smiled and sat back on the stool behind the counter, her wings shifting ever so slightly.
she truly hated this god forsaken city, and wouldn't even care if anyone who was cruel just vanished.
soon she perked up and sighed as she slowly got to her feet and gingerly took the coins from him with one hand while gently patting his cheek with her other hand.
''we can ask around.... i'll go in alone when we find an apothecary that way if i do get questioned, you don't get in trouble.... alright...?'' she murmured softly, giving a small tilt of her head while looking in his direction, eye's still closed.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Willow sighed and rubbed her arm with her free hand, shaking her head as she looked at Jinx and gave her a bit of a weak smile.
''it's.. fine really.... i was angry and he was angry... something was bound to happen f we ended up arguing'' she said simply, her tone flat.
it was painfully obvious that when he had ended up hurting her she had felt a bit betrayed, especially since he was really nice when they first met.
He took a deep breath and lightly ran the tip of his claw-like nails across his jawline. Jack lightly put a hand on Crystal's back. "Let's get going, yeah?" He urged, softly nudging her.
---------
She bit the inside of her cheek. "Rowan's terrible at handling his temper, but... he has a good heart. I really do hope you two can make amends, as much of an idiot he is," Jinx replied with a hint of sadness.

''you'll have to lead.... i'm still blind as a bat right now and my other senses aren't helping me right now either, so i'm relying on you to guide me through the alleyway's'' she said.
~~~~~~~~
she sat the things she was sorting through back where she had found them and walked over to where Jinx was, giving her a light squeeze of a hug before she stood straight again and folded her arm's neatly in front of her.
''then he's going to have to make up for twisting my wrist, i don't forgive so easily'' Willow said.
her ear's twitched up and she looked over as she heard the bell that was tied to the ceiling above the door rang, smiling brightly at the customer who entered while giving a small polite bow.
''welcome sir~ how may we help you?'' Willow said in a polite and gentle voice, almost like she worked a front desk job before.
the gentlemen that had entered was a lanky and scrawny looking rabbit with his ear's folded half way, giving both of the girls a crooked grin that looked even wider thank's to the scar at the corner of his lip.
''my my, what do we have here.... you finally hired someone to help run the apothecary madam Jinx...? she's quite beautiful'' he asked, chuckling as Willow stared at him blankly, a bright red blush falling over her face at the compliment.
Yuzuki perked up from where he was and stood, looking at the rabbit hybrid with a rather murderous glare no child should ever be able to muster and his ear's pinned back, his stuffed toy held by the paw at his side.
"Oh, dear," mumbled the old canine woman. "That doesn't look like an accident..." She carefully explained the directions to the apothecary and then proceeded to explain, in detail, the direction to the nearest police department.
"T-thank you, ma'am," Jack said, as nicely as he could. He walked with Crystal to where she had told him and, once out of earshot of the strangers, exhaled sharply.
--------
"Hi, Felix~" Jinx chirped, dipping behind the desk to search for some herbs. She popped back up and smiled at him. "Yeah, this is Willow. She's the best," she said briefly, noticing Yuzuki and smiling at his protectiveness.
''it was an officer who caused this.....'' she grumbled spitefully, mostly towards the officer who hurt her.
~~~~~~~~~~~
''ah, what a beautiful name for a beautiful girl such as her~ anyway... how much for my medication this time?'' he asked as he leaned against the desk, looking at Willow for a couple minutes longer before finally looking to Jinx.
Willow was pretty much as red as a tomato from all the compliments and was trying ti keep her composure now, deciding to busy her self with sorting again.
--------
She told him and sat the medication in a bag in front of him. Jinx's eyes sparkled with interest when she saw Willow's bashfulness. "You'd better not be planning on stealing my assistant, Felix. I'd be lost without her," she said teasingly, although a small part of her spoke the truth--at this point, Jinx could spot a gang worker from a mile away. Felix had never talked about it, but he had that certain sense of danger; Jinx was determined to keep Willow from another incident.

''not.... as bad right now, mostly stings'' she said.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Felix grabbed out his money pouch and laughed, giving her the payment and picked the bag up off the counter, a playful gleam in his dual colored eyes.
''i wouldn't dream of it madam Jinx... unless, she chose to be stolen away, that is'' he said, looking back at Willow who was now fumbling with a few papers she was sorting out.
with that he bid them both a farewell and soon left the apothecary, disappearing out of sight from the windows as he walked down the pathway.
once he had left Willow had sat everything down and covered his face, her ears flattened and tail wagging furiously as the compliments Felix had given her continued to bounce around in her head.
''you both are terrible....! especially you for encouraging him..!'' she whined, utterly flustered and embarrassed now.
