While he was following Espy he asked "Are you alright Esp? If you want to talk about it, I'm all ears." he knew something was wrong, he just couldn't put a finger on it. "Did something happen? Is it about your mom?" he continued to ask. He wanted to help her, but he didn't know how.

Espy turned and shrugged. "While you were gone mom and dad died, so I'm on my own. But it's fine!" She said, and continued walking. She smiled lightly that she had found one of her best friends, but the memory of finding her parents dead in her home on her way back from school haunted her constantly.

"Yikes, sorry about bringing up your parents." Kain said "But I guess we're both alone. My mom's dead too." he didn't want to say anything else, he didn't really sound very sad about his mother's death. "But I'm sure your parents are in a better place, watching over you." he tried to reassure Espy.

"It's fine, they're just gone..." Espy whispered, seeing her home in view. 'Mom might be in a good place, but dad sure as heck isn't...' She thought to herself, sniffling lightly. She gripped his hand tighter, gritting her teeth a little.

Kain stayed silent the whole way there after that. He wished he could've helped her, but he knew it was in the past. And what happened in the past, stays in the past. He noticed her sniffling. Is she about to cry? he thought, not hesitating he pulled her close, wrapping his arms around her waist. "I don't know how to help you, I'm sorry. I wish I could've done something.."

Espy was pulled into the hug abruptly, and had her eyes wide. But she wrapped her thin arms around him, sobbing into his stomach. Her inky tears poured out, black and thick. They were honestly weird, but the teen had learned to deal with it.

"I'm here for you, it'll be alright." He said, holding her close. He had noticed her tears were black, but he didn't ask what that was about. I just hope she has a washing machine. She's staining my white-shirt. he thought, running his hand through her hair gently.

"S-sorry about your shirt..." Espy whispered, before letting him go. She snatched his hand back up and led him the rest of the way to her house, opening the door and letting him in. She his hand loose, her small hand falling to her hip.

"It's fine, do you have a washing machine? I'll go put it in the wash." He said after walking though the door, taking his shirt off. "Whoops, sorry. Old habit." He sighed, swinging his shirt around.

"O-oh yeah. It's st-still in the lau-laundry room." Espy stammered, her face becoming red with a blush. She closed the door behind the two of them, flicking on the lights. She pointed to a room off of the hall, as if reminding him where the laundry room was.

"Thanks Esp." Kain replied, walking off towards the laundry room. He opened the door and walked inside, reaching for the laundry detergent he poured come in the lid, opening the washer he poured it inside closing it afterwards. Then he started the washing machine, walking out of the room. He pulled his hoodie from his waist and slipped it on. "Thanks a ton Esp." I called from the end of the hallway.

"No problem!" She replied, skipping down the hall to the living room, flopping onto the couch. She curled up, and then stretched out on it. She buried her face in the fluffy cushion, resting her hands above her head. Her feet touched the other end of the couch, and she felt short since her head was a good 10 inches away from the end of the couch.

Stella sharpened her claws on the wood of a tree. She winced at the noise it made, but if there was something bad about to happen, she had to be ready.
