Next to her, Locklear sat slumped over in a chair. Looking down, she noticed he was holding her hand. He groaned and mumbled something in his sleep.
Suddenly, John entered the room.
"So, what were you doing hanging out with that goody-two-shoes, Gabriel?" He asked.
"That's non of your business," Aroura growled. She was not about to be intimidated by the likes of him! "Where's Synthia?"
Almost the moment Opal awoke she bolted out the window. For anyone else sleeping fairly high up in a mansion this would've been an incredibly idiotic idea, though Opal shifted into the form of a sparrow quickly and easily. She observed the events of Aroura and several others before following them back inside, nestling into a comfortable spot in the sterile room. Nosy? Sure. Bored as soon as I wake up? Yep. Curious? Absolutely, she mentally defended herself, realizing she was bound to be noticed.
Evander slowly opened his eyes. How long had he been asleep? Seeing Aroura sitting up, made his entire body relax. Noticing he still held her hand, he gently pulled it back
As Synthia walked through the gardens, she wondered what her power was. She new she could break buildings, but that didn't seem right. A girl jumped out of the top floor window, before turning into a sparrow and flying off. 'That's a cool power' she thought. 'Ok, let's find out mine.' She remembered the odd musical noises she had made when they first arrived. She tried singing a few notes. Immediately, everything around her looked clearer, like someone had wiped off a little bit of dust from a window. She felt stronger somehow, but she wasn't sure what that could mean.
Ethan had turned to face Terminus. "Um, hi? I'm Ethan."
"Welcome, Ethan. This is the Lux Faction, we think that all criminals should be put on trial for their actions. While the Nox Faction, run by my brother, thinks that all criminals should be treated the same, no matter the crime. It is up to you which you choose to go to. " Terminus said.
"You see, I'm not too sure about any of this just yet. I wake up in the strange town, with these new abilities, and I'm just expected to choose between two Factions. It's confusing, but I guess I'll just be staying here for now. So. Where's my room?" Ethan expressed.
"Follow me." Terminus began walking up the stairs, gesturing for him to follow. At the top of the stairs, they began to walk down a corridor. Terminus began to speak. "You know, if you join the Lux Faction, we will be able to help train you with your abilities. What is your ability, anyway?"
"I think it's teleportation." Ethan stated, " But I have almost no control over it."
"Interesting." Terminus stopped at a door, "This is your room, right through that door. I'll talk to you again in the morning, have a think tonight about joining us."
"Thanks." Ethan said as he walked into his new room, closing the door behind him. He had a lot to think about. The room was very spacious; comfy bed, closets filled with new clothes, a desk, drawers, lamps and even his own bathroom. Everything he needed. He threw himself on the bed and drifted into a silent sleep.
What was wrong with her? She couldn't remember ever being this emotionally attached to anyone, let alone a complete stranger she'd only meet yesterday.
Evander was glad when John left. He had wanted a chance to talk to Aroura in privacy. Placing his hand on the side of the bed he spoke. "I'm glad you're alright. I-...I was really worried for a while." his throat siezed up.
He looked at her blankly, seemingly confused as to what she meant.
"Last night," Aroura blurted, "Gabriel provoked you! He had no right to say wait he did! And I know you didn't want or mean to...unravel me-but it's okay! I'm fine! Can... can we maybe go out somewhere neutral? No Lux, no Nox, just us?"
She didn't know why she had asked that last part. It had just came out! But when it did she realized she had meant it. She didn't know what was between them, but she thought she'd like to figure it out.
"Synthia could come too!" Aroura added, suddenly feeling like she needed someone to come along. And the little girl seemed like the best person to have there.
Aroura looked around the room, expecting to find a surveillance camera. What she didn't expect to find was a sparrow perched in a corner of the room. As Aroura watched it, she felt the creature had an intelligence not found in such an animal.
As Synthia was testing her voice a few words popped into her head. She began to sing them
There's no harm in urban legends, at least that's what the people say. So that worn out crimson cartridge should be perfectly safe to play!
The air around her became tinted with a strange purple color.
Aroura checked the pockets on her jacket, hoping there was something useful but all she could find was an impressive array of weapons.
"So I guess whoever dressed me for showing up here forgot to equip me with anything useful in the normal world." Aroura sighed, "That or I was a ninja before I showed up here."
Synthia didn't really like this song very much. It sounded funny and the words didn't make sense, but for some reason she couldn't seem to stop singing it
None of this make any sense, it can't be real, so why so tense? Shouldn't dare, but I don't care, fighting this crushing atmosphere!
Everything's fine, there's no problem, a mantra I try to justify. But this feeling taking over, emitting from the purple anthem!
All around her the grass and flowers began to wither and die. Strange shapes danced in the air around her.
Aroura stood up, much slower this time. "Walk me out? I don't want another run in with someone a little to trigger happy and pass out for the fourth time in less then two days."
