"How did a wall get here?" He wondered aloud. Looking closer, he noticed that the door had the Nox symbol on it, the same one as was on his hand. Grabbing the handle, he swung the door open, expecting to see the rest of the garden. Beyond the door lay blackness, speckled with blue and green swirling particulates. A voice spoke from behind him, "Good, you found the door on your own." He whirled around to see Slender, along with Maskey, Hoddie, Toby, and Kate, standing near the house. Masky spoke again, "The other two inhabitants of this house have already gone through. Only you five remain."
"Wait! Inhabitants? You mean I lived here?" Aroura asked, dumbfounded. She didn't remember living in a house with anyone other then her despicable father. And even if she had lost her memory, she was positive she would have remembered Evander! How could she ever forgot him? Those warm eyes, his deep voice, the feel of his hand in hers, they where things she was pretty sure she would have remembered something!
Synthia was helping patch up John and Andrew's wounds
When he nodded, Aroura stepped forward. She felt a jarring sensation, like she had stepped off of a cliff. Her knees buckled and she almost fell over when they landed. She waited with Evander while the rest of the group came through. When Masky came through, she asked him if she could see Synthia.
"Of course! This way," he said, leading Aroura and Evander down a hallway.
Aroura walked over and hugged the girl to her. "Hey sweetie, it's okay. It's just taking a little longer, that's all. We'll figure it out."
Evander came over and Aroura watched as they hugged. She wished she had a sibling like that. She knew she didn't have any close relationships like that. She stepped back, letting them have their space.
Synthia gave him a small smile. "Do you really think they look pretty Vany?" Evander nodded smiling. "Now, how about we go see Slendy? He said he could maybe get my memories back. "Ok" she replied, much cheerier now. Evander held out a hand to Aroura. "You coming?"
Aroura followed Evander as he lead them down another hallway. At the end of the hall stood a black door. White tentacles had been drawn over it. Aroura couldn't decide if the end result was menacing or stunning.
Before Evander had a chance to open the door, it swung open, as though of it's own accord.
"I'm positive." She finally replied.
Slender nodded and placed a tentacle on either side of her head. Aroura closed her eyes, trying to relax as she felt an intelligence invade her mind. She could only assume it was Slender. He poked and prodded at the walls that locked her memories away. Pressure built to an unbearable level. Aroura was just about to cry out when the pressure broke, bring all of the memories with it, like a broken dam. They came with no rhyme or reason.
She was six and she had to hide the bruises daddy had given her.
She was 13 and crying herself to sleep, praying it didn't wake anyone and she'd have to explain it.
She was eight and her dad had just been voted governor.
She was 14 and started taking private lessons, defense classes. Her teacher was a martial artist and saw potential in her, so he taught her to use the bladed fans.
She was 4 and started moving water. Her dad came out of the house and hit her, telling her to never do that again.
She was 18 and her dad had just come to her that night. But this time she was ready. He tried to force himself on her but she held a dagger to his throat. "I'm leaving!" she had told him, "You will promise me right now that you won't stop me and sign this paper agreeing to it. Or I will go to the police with the evidence. You can't deny these." She held out her arms, showing him the bruises he had left there.
"I...I have to go!" Aroura blurted, fleeing the room to find someplace to be alone.
He was born an only child in a rich family. He was given the best of everything. He spent many years training in one of the best medical schools in the country. But his life was far from perfect. His mother and father tried to give him all the attention a young boy needed, but many times were simply to busy. Evander began draw away from the world to play solely with the "Imaginary" he had found in the woods. Mr.Widemouth was his favorite friend. Then one day he followed Mr. Widemouth into a cemetary, and the voices began. As it so happens, Mr. Widemouth's job is to turn children into monsters like him. He had know idea what he had done. The voices drove Evander to the brink of madness. Then suddenly they stopped. It was for him to take the final step into the abyss. He jumped. He was fourteen when he first killed. The memories began to move faster. He saw himself making his outfit. Then kill after kill after kill. More and more blood on his hands. Remove the organs; use them to save another. Another kill. And so it continued for five long years; kill a sinner, take his lifeblood, save an innocent. Then he met Slender. He had been alone in a dark forest, when he suddenly found a small piece of paper . "Always watches, No eyes." As he found more papers, a thing in the dark chased him more fanatically until finally Evander had had enough. He turned and stabbed the thing through the chest with his knife. Needless to say, it did not enjoy this. An all out brawl comensed, with no real victor. The thing took him to a mansion, and offered him refuge. Free stuff? How could he refuse? He soon became good friends with the others there. His life continued happily. Then Slender found her. A young girl, around six, sitting at the bottom of a tree, her mother hung to death in its branches. He brought her back, and Evander vowed to take care of her. As time passed they became closer than any sibling. He was very protective of her, and she adored him for that. So life continued; another kill, more blood, more redemption. Then he met her, and his whole world changed. The memories continued, but Evander was to stunned to think about them. So much blood, so much killing. That couldn't really be who he was, could it?.
"Whoa," Kate said, steading her. "Where's the fire?"
"I...Is there somewhere quiet I can be?" Aroura asked, trying at non-chalice as she wiped at her eyes. "I don't think I'm feeling alright."
Kate looked at Aroura, almost like she was reading her mind.
"Come with me, dear," She finally said, leading Aroura to a midnight blue door. Kate opened the door, letting Aroura in. The room was beautiful. Simple elegance inspired the décor. The large bed was covered in a blue silk bedspread. Black Asian accents covered the midnight blue walls.
"Get some rest," Kate smiled, then closed the door. Aroura walked over to the bed. She took off her jacket, placing it on the chair by the desk. She unstrapped her fans, leaving those on the nightstand. Then she set about untying her boots. Five minutes later, she climbed between the sheets.
"Not until you let me help you," he'd said. He'd held out a hand. Something about him made her take his hand. Then she looked into his face.
It was Evander!
Aroura sat upright in bed, letting out a sharp, "LOCKLEAR!"
She had to find him! She jumped out of bed, strapped on her fans, and tugged her jacket on. It would take too much time for her boots so she just picked them up and ran out of the room.
"Evander!" Aroura cried, dropping her boots and running to him. "I remember you! I remember you!"
She threw herself into his arms. She couldn't believe she had forgotten him! how could she! He was her Evander.
After the three had left, Masky turned to Slender. "Master, why didn't you tell them? Why keep it a secret from them?" Slender sighed, pulling a small wooden box from the desk. 'Because child, memory loss changes people. You saw Evander. He was horrified when he learned what he had done. If the loss of memory can cause one of our most willing to kill act like that, what else could it have changed? As much as I would like to, I can't know how my children really feel.' He stared at the items in the box. 'Better for them to relive the moments, than to have them thrust upon them.' He snapped the box shut, returning it to its place. 'I trust you will remain silent on these matters?' "Of course Master." Masky bowed, "All secrets are safe with me."
A few minutes later, she stood up. "Alright. Where should we go? I'm not sure where the Lux are but I don't think they'll be very happy to see us."
Evander shrugged.
"Away from the mansion it is then," Aroura smiled. She wanted to tell him about what had happened to her. She didn't want to lose her memories and have to relieve the pain and tell him why she was so freaked. "So, what did you want to talk about?"
