Joe, this might cause lag, but remember that we do store tons of items in our item bags with minimal problems. If Riako stores which items were available in a similar way to how he stores which items you own in your bag, lag hopefully won't be a problem. However, I do agree that it may be problematic that it is so similar to Emera Mall (the few differences I pointed out near the bottom of page 1 aside). ^^"
However it also sounds kind of fun and cool. Hrm. Maybe there is a way to make this work for PH.
What if... Join Avenue became a rumble area, instead? The items available would still be kinda random, the map could still be leveled up... Would this approach suit PH better?

However, I think that there should be a trainer level requirement in order to unlock it. Maybe around trainer level 10 or so, it become available? Because in the game, you still had to progress in the story enough to unlock it.
i have fists for hands and fire for fists
Taking away the "varying based on friends" aspect of it makes it possible to make it a Rumble area, yes, but it also defeats the purpose and uniqueness of the Avenue in the first place.
Also, Join Avenue is supposed to be a *currently active* (apparently unlike the Playground) bustling mall area - why would it be a place so dangerous that only Pokémon can explore it and they need exploration supplies to do so? XD
Death, I think that does make sense. I'll add it to the post. ^^
The way you describe Join Avenue... It could almost function as a clicklist that allows each trainer to go through everyone on their friendlist... But I thought a rumble area might be more interesting. *shrugs* What if it were a place not for the pokemon but for the trainers? What if it were a rumble area where the prizes got better, the more trainers that were exploring it?
Please excuse my active imagination. =F

I'd also like to point out that choosing not to support a suggestion because of how hard it is is discouraged. Since Riako is the one doing the coding, he should be the one to decide what's too hard, rather than people who don't know how he works or how skilled he is. He should decide on how to simplify it and limit it - if he is CAPABLE of doing it, there's no reason of limiting him simply because "it might be hard," and we can't know for sure that he isn't until he says so himself. ^^
Please understand. I do respect your suggestion but currently I don't see how it isn't redundant to a lot of the features we already have on this site. You are correct in that Riako should - and no doubt, will - be the one who decides whether it would be difficult/practical to implement. But whenever a suggestion entails a lot of work for the programmer, it does also tend to add layers of difficultly for the players. That concerns me slightly. A lot of PH's appeal is in it's simplicity, I think. We have players here of all ages from all over the world. I wouldn't want this place to lose that unique charm.
Thank you. I think I will be making a suggestion of my own.

When you first posted here, you only said it seemed hard to program and stated that that was why you were giving alternatives, but now you think it would be confusing to the players and would ruin PH's simplicity?
If you thought it was too complex, I kind of wish you would have said so right away rather than dancing around the matter and providing alternatives without simply telling me the actual problem. You say to please understand, as if I wasn't understanding what you were saying, and yet you then proceed to say exclusively new information you hadn't even mentioned before...
I would just like to point out that it's really not a complicated idea at all. The specific details I was giving existed only so Riako would know exactly how it would work; minus those details that only Riako needs to know, the users literally just have to understand "Join Avenue is a place where there are shops that are influenced by your Friendlist. If you socialize more and interact with those friends, the Avenue and the individual shops are made better! You can also mark a shop as a favorite if it is helpful to you so that you can always access it; the other shops change every day."
As for being redundant, I admit that yes, its purpose can simply be filled by the Emera Mall, but there are numerous other features that are simply alternative ways to do the same thing. Take the Gem Cauldron, for example - you could already get every single item in the Gem Cauldron through other means, but that didn't stop it from being added simply because it's nice to have multiple ways of doing things.
Additionally, there are no features that encourage actively interacting with friends, which is one of the main features of this.
No, it's not necessary, but it could potentially be nice (and, given how many other people support, it seems that people agree), and, as mentioned, some other features (such as the Gem Cauldron and Treasure Hunt) exist solely as alternate ways to get items that were already available - just like this.
