A divine rain of azoth, the universal
solvent, has befallen Otherworld, threatening to return it to its
primordial state. Starting out as a harmless, light drizzle across
Elysium, it quickly spiraled out of control, purifying gods and
entire realms back into chaos, the formless matter existing before
the creation of the universe.
The Legendary Sages of Otherworld, upon hearing this news, decided to hold an emergency meeting. But it was too late- the azoth rain had already caused irreversible damage to Elysium, and it appeared that the layers below it would soon follow the same fate. Not even Astraea Syntribos, the Sage of Chance's luck manipulation could do anything about it, nor could I'riyon, the Administrator of Time, reverse the situation. The Sages were at a loss, it seemed that their return was inevitable, and nothing could be done about it.
It was then that Norcrosse, the Overseer of Crossroads, recalled a shard of information from the Archives of Old, an ancient astral construct used by the former Legendary Sages to store information. The shard said of a portal at the very bottom of Otherworld, capable of transporting humans, and humans only, to the Continuum, the dwelling of Destiny herself. Satisfied with this information, the Sages set out on locating the few remaining spirits in Otherworld and granting them a human form.
Desperate in their attempt to accumulate spirits in order to send to the Portal and negotiate with Destiny, and unable to leave their sacred chamber above Elysium, the Sages had failed to realize a fatal mistake in their plan- a select few of the spirits were devotees of them, willing to sabotage the Sages' plan to prevent their arrival at any cost. But it was too late for any changes to be made. More of Otherworld corroded away in the deluge of azoth with every passing moment, and, with the Sages' powerful abilities mostly neutralized by the lack of spirits to grant them faith, their only hope was that the humans loyal to them had the strength and willpower to reach the bottom of Otherworld.

How This Roleplay Works:

Welcome to this Mafia roleplay, which
a variant of the classic party game Mafia. In this roleplay,
each participating character is secretly assigned a role that is
either associated with the town or
the mafia. The mafia eliminates one town member per night while masquerading as
ordinary citizens during the day.
The roleplay is divided into two parts: night and day. During the night, mafia members secretly plan to murder a town member and devise a devious day-time strategy.
During the day, the entire cast of surviving players debate who among them is aligned with the mafia and votes to execute someone. The game alternates between these two phases until either all of the mafia are eliminated (town wins) or the number of remaining mafia members equals or exceeds the number of remaining town members (mafia wins).

Nakanotorishima is an island, and as such it is surrounded by sand. Soft, smooth sand, untouched for eons. Sand of the most pristine quality, even. You can only marvel at the transcendent beauty of each granule, flawlessly shaped by the ethereal freshwater waves of the Expanse. I'll spare you the details.
Mussels, clams, shells, driftwood, and the like are scattered across the beaches elegantly. Crabs, (freshwater) starfish, and the occasional tortoise or turtle might sometimes be spotted as well, adding to the already picturesque scenery.
Beside the lazy sands of the shores are the Forests, which make up most of Nakanotorishima's landscape.
The forests surround the inner parts of Nakanotorishima with dense, lush vegetation. Trees and plants of all sizes thrive in this idyllic paradise, with narrow rays of sun/moonlight shining through the small gaps between leaves illuminating the forest floor.
All sorts of animals and organisms, from squirrels to mushrooms to birds to deer to even larger animals, but there seems to be an unsettling absence of humanlike animals. Many ponds litter the forest as well, inhabited by amphibians such as frogs and toads, along with many more others.
Beyond the forests lies Lake Kurage, a large freshwater lake inhabited by all sorts of aquatic organisms.
Lake Kurage is the largest lake on Nakanotorishima, populated by all sorts of aquatic animals. Fish, eels, turtles, crayfish, and even fabled mermaids reside anywhere from the sparkling surface, to the bright upper layer, to even the dark depths of the lake.
From the surface, it is difficult to discern, but on particular nights where the moon is bright, a spire of sorts could be seen shining radiantly from the bottom of the lake. Perhaps it is some remnant of a past mermaid civilization, or perhaps one that is thriving at this very moment.
But all that is not as important as the main point of interest of the lake - jellyfish. Unmeasurable multitudes of all sorts of jellyfish live in the lake, each one reminiscent of a particular flower: peach blossoms, sakura, hydrangea, you name it.
Nakanotorishima Castle is the only non-natural construct on the island, situated on the very center of Lake Kurage, and connected to the forests through a breathtaking bridge constructed with an odd yet smooth, iridescent, and all around magnificent material.
The castle is constructed out of beautiful jewels and the finest clay and stones Nakanotorishima has to offer. However, as the princesses/demigoddesses rarely, if ever, have guests, the insides of the castle are mostly left to speculation.
It is, of course where Amehime and her siblings Irohahime and Mirahime reside.

Current Rain Level: Light Rain (1 stage)
As the sun slowly rose from the horizon, Amehime wasted no time beginning her plans. The Ōmagatoki ritual was to begin now, if she wanted the saltwater rain to conclude quickly.
The lazy sands of the shore became visible as the three water empresses neared the edge of the forests. The rain had gotten harder, it was clear. The drizzle yesterday seemed insignificant as larger droplets of rain fell from the sky.
With one flick of her wrist, Amehime conjured a roaring wind surrounding the camp, scattering the tearful rain descending onto it. And, of course, if a sudden windstorm couldn't cause panic, what could? She braced herself for some aggressive talking.
Amehime cut herself off for dramatic effect.
"Of the nine of you that have currently been stranded on our island."
"Only two have a hand in the summoning of this curse. It would be simply unfair if the seven innocents amongst yourselves simply died because of an unfortunate bout of bad luck."
She continued in the same assertive, demanding tone.
"As such, I propose an alternative. You all shall participate in this ancient ritual, fittingly dubbed the Ōmagatoki by irrelevant divinities countless eons ago. You will not refuse this offer, for the alternative to this alternative is painful death."
Amehime gestured towards Mirahime to continue.
"This is the contract you shall soon agree to. In essence, you will be granted free access to the entire island, as well as Nakanotorishima Castle for temporary residence at night, in exchange for compliance with the rules. Once agreed, you will find yourself completely incapable of breaking any of the rules of the ritual."
[refer to the signups for the details of the contract. if you have any questions just palpad me or something]
"You will have a moment to discuss and react before agreeing to it. And of course, if you reject the contract, you shall be granted a painful death."
Irohahime
As usual, Iroha had sneakily slipped away while her sisters were doing their dramatic talk. With the Minorem Grimoire de Ōmagatoki she sneaked out of the Archives pressed against its chest, the ancient book wrapped in a magical, translucent foil that repelled water.
She approached Paiyoon's tent (don't ask how she knew) and basically barged in without warning.
"Hey, uh, Ms. Paiyoon! I brought the book you said you wanted to read yesterday for you. Have fun reading it or something. It's not that interesting." She said, her voice somewhat reminiscent of both a yell and a whisper.
