Athena couldn't believe how Kendo/Neo was interacting with the headmistress. It was like they were a family or something. And what was all this about keeping his soul in a book? It was strange... All very strange... First of all, the headmistress was a little child? Secondly, Kendo/Neo, who had seemed so annoyed and angry, was suddenly happy and cheerful and ready to help. He had just suddenly changed, became a different person. He had just suddenly changed, became a different person. It made no sense, no sense at all. Hearing AJ's whisper, she turned towards her. Kitty didn't like the man's, Kendo's, sudden attitude change. It... disturbed her. Without even thinking about it, she pointedly put herself at the Headmistress' side, blocking him from her.

AJ was nonplussed. She'd read crazier things in her fantasy novels. So the little girl headmistress knew the soul fragment, and the soul fragment had some sort connection with smoker boy. Okay...

"Don't interfere!" She hissed at Kitty. The last thing the girl needed was to be in the middle of two clearly powerful beings in this strange world.

But the physics and scientific mechanics of the existence soul pieces...? And the potential of non-evil soul pieces. It was something she would need to look into...
It was never meant to be.

If Kitty was going to play with forces she didn't understand, that was fine with AJ. She sat down on the ground, and watched the headmistress intently. Yep, this place was even weirder than she had imagined on the chariot ride over.

The flagstones were hard and slightly uneven, but charmingly so. As AJ studied them, she could make out runes carved on each of them. She peered down at them, trying to make heads or tails of their meaning. When she found that the pictographic language was alien to her, she applied cryptology skills. The runes were still confusing, but she was able to understand a few of them. Every rune she could understand had to do with either light or darkness, sun or moon.

Tracing her fingers over the intricate grooves, AJ tried her best to commit them to memory. Everything was so overwhelming. With a deep breath, she pulled her legs to her chest, making herself as small as possible. No, she would not have a panic attack here.

1, 3, 6, 10, 15, 21, 28, 36, 45, ...

A triangle was earth's strongest shape. She breathed slowly; inhale, exhale. All this waiting around was not doing anything for her nerves. She could only keep her act together for so long.

Kitty stole a quick glance at Neo and hoped he wouldn't notice. He looked annoyed, too bad. Didn't stop her from being curious. Any other rude person, she would have sent flying, or straight up ignored. Something about him bothered her, and she couldn't figure what it was.

She padded over to AJ, silently offering a hug. She looked like she needed it. And the Headmistress seemed a little too distracted to notice her.
