Ruby was my first, and I’m pretty sure that the music of Hoenn will
always be my favorite video game soundtrack for that reason as well
as the fact that I was only 4 (but almost 5) years old at the time,
so I was only just starting to form memories and it really got to
be part of the roots of who I am. I don’t think I’d ever heard of
Pokémon before playing that game, so it really would’ve been a
wonderful, immersive introduction. It was a very special experience
because it took place during what must have been the weirdest and
best time of my life, when things were horrible and possibly
permanently damaging to me but, simultaneously, my world was
expanding so much. Ruby was given to me along with a blue GBA SP
and a few other plain gray, much less exciting games to keep me
entertained on the only trip by airplane I’ve ever been on, when I
was going to visit far away family in a very good place where I
wish I could live today.
technically? i think it was red, stolen from a sibling at an age i
barely remember but the first game i played and comprehended was
diamond which similar to someone else who posted a similar reply i
was also made very excited by bdsp
My brothers got me started on pokemon-
My first personal game was Pokemon X or Pokemon Alpha Sapphire,
But I played on my brothers games years before those, so I'm gonna
guess either Black/White 1 or 2 was my very first time playing
pokemon myself.
Come so far, excited for Pokemon Scarlet!
