There's a bit more to it than just that, but that seems to be the basics of how these marvelous creatures came to be. The pack moved to the Royal paradise, and their posterity still live there to this day! The unidogons hardly ever leave, but when they do, they spread stories of their kind, and leave all mortal dogs speculating. Often they are treated like royalty, or even gods, out of a sense of duty and respect.
Unidogons, as stated, are a variety of breeds, but there are some features they all share:
All unidogons have a dog's body, with a Unicorn's main and horn, a dragon's horns between their ears at the back of their heads, as well as dragon wings, either feathered or bat-like and leathery (The wings are an exception, depending on element, but I included it because there are wings the majority of the time). Their tails can vary from fluffy dog tails, long dragon tails, or a tail more resemblant of a unicorn's, appearing to be an extended part of the main.

Once a puppy reaches a month old, it's unicorn horn will grow in as well. With use of their horn, all unidogons have the power to heal others. The horns come in three metallic colors: Gold, Silver, and Bronze. While these colors have no effect ont the actual healing power of the individual, they do help determine status among society, the golden horns being considered 'more beautiful', and are thus treated with higher respect than silver or bronze. Because horns are genetic, Royal PAradise dogs keep the golden horns in the higher class for the most part, but there are area where dogs are less 'Royalist', meaning favoring royal traits.

Pups of Earth or Sea Elements may be born without wings, simply due to the lack of need for them. Usually, when Earth or Sea dogs are born, they end up with a lot more elemental traits suited to the Earth or Sea. Earth having more earthy texture, and are built better for burrowing, and Sea having more scales and backfins, and webbed paws, better for swimming. Wings would simply get in the way. That doesn't mean Earth and Sea dragons are all wingless, but they are usually not used for flight, and often they are specialized.
There is also a 11th elemental that cannot be obtained at birth, Royalty. The element was named due to all the original dogs classifying as the 'Rulers' of the Royal Paradise. Royal elementals have access to all elements of magic, and are therefore the most powerful. To keep this great power out of the wrong paws, the first pack separated the elements among themselves, each specializing in ruling a particular element, and making sure their offspring were born with only their 'strong' element.An example of which would be Hikari the Pomchi, a Royal elemental with the 'strong' element being light. Her puppies were all Light elementals, not Royal like her. This means Hikari can use all types of magic, but is most well versed in Light, meanwhile her offspring will only have light magic, and their offspring will also have light magic.
How would an ordinary dogon gain the 'Royalty' element? They would have to obtain the power from one of the original royals, or 'earn' it. This would involve being a chosen successor of a dying previous Royal, or earning the title in the higher power's eyes with great feats of heroism. This hasn't been done in centuries, however, and might not happen again anytime soon, as the current Royals are still going strong, and there is only one Royal for each normal element.
