Winter nodded, bouncing off the cube, the wave of tiredness suddenly hitting him. "Let's find out what Rantaro has to say!" His voice sounded excited, and he was, but he also felt he would probably fall asleep on the train to be honest.

Winter bounced out of the castle and said next to him, staring at Rantaro expectantly. He was really curious now that the festival was ending, and wanted to know what the possible surprise was.

Rantaro would proceed to give the same explanation as he did for Snowflake. He told it as it is. “Emerald here has done 4 of our trials.” He smiled. Emerald reached into his bag and revealed the music note amulet, which had 4 coloured genstones on it, and half complete

Winter peered at the amulet. "Wow. So we get to have an Island challenge? totem pokemon and everything, or...?" He glanced back at Rantaro, behind him, the sun was painting the water, and as wildly curious as he was he was also tired.

Winter's ears pricked slightly, intrigued. "Qualities, huh?" This sounded incredibly fun! He wondered what kinds of trials there were. When he heard of the island challenge, he'd always thought of the one from the Alola region, where his family had gone on vacation when they'd had him, causing his icy appearance

Winter hooked one away from Rantaro with his claw, peering at it. "Who else have you invited?" He slipped it into his scarf, which was now getting soggy, and knew he would pass out on the train home. He could sense the meeting ending and stood up.

“Just you, Ruby, and Snowflake for now. I would invite Xin and Arvek but....I haven’t seem them recently.” He sighed. He did like them, and saw many qualities with them as well as the others. He looked at the sky, the first star appearing for the night. “Now good night, young warriors. May I see you tomorrow.” He slowly sat down and turned away. He started chuckling to himself. “When have I ever been so formal and stiff...?”

Emerald turned to Winter. “Oh dear...you almost look like you’re about to pass out... let’s get on the train...”

Winter nodded gratefully "Let's go." He started to drag his paws through the sand towards the train station. That was super fun, but he probably need to wash up and get a good rest before going through an Island challenge.

"A nice jiggly bubble to get back to right?" Emerald laughed. "I hope my bubble is a good bed..." He helped Winter along and the train just so happened to be waiting for them

Soon they arrived home. Emerald could only surmise Winter’s lack of response as tiredness. He carried the snow fox all the way home. He hopped onto the bubble, jiggling it intensely, and snuggled the Vulpix close to him.

Winter was so close to falling asleep right on top of him. He managed to lick his ear before passing out. "You're squishy..." He mumbled distantly, mind fading into blackness.

“Me...?” He just giggled softly. Maybe he was like his dad after all. He just fell asleep with him

The next morning arrived soon enough. It felt quick at least but they did sleep for a while. Emerald wouldn’t wake up before Winter

Winter opened his eyes a crack as the light filtered through his eyelids. He had fallen asleep in his cape and scarf again and they were acting as blankets, more or less. He lay there, still on top of Emerald and had no memory of his earlier comment the night before.
