Winter flushed...and felt a horrible lump in his throat, realizing he couldn't lie but knew this would crush his friend's heart, and they'd only just met back up. He nodded slowly, unable to speak the words, and only just brought himself to look into his friends eyes to spy a reaction.

There was a moment of silence. “...I...failed you as a friend all along...I...would have said yes...I...” If Winter looked closely, the light that usually was in Emerald’s eyes had all but vanished. “...It’s all my fault...” He leapt onto Winter and started bawling. Loudly. No one had ever seen him cry like this. Never. Never in public. “Winter, I’m so sorry! If only I’d knew...I should have known! I failed you...”

"It-it's not your fault, Emerald!" If only he had spoken up! He would never have wanted Emerald to cry over him like this, not when Ruby clearly would be better for him. He had been so selfish! "It's not your fault." He repeated softly. "It's mine. I should have spoken to you.." He gently wiped his friends tears.

“...I would have said yes Winter and happily...” He looked at him, still crying a river. He took a few steps back and even though he promised not to do it again to Winter. He got on his paws and knees and kneeled in a begging position. “...Please forgive me...I failed as a friend, and I failed as a reader of aura...I...you...probably don’t want to be my friend anymore but I’ll still ask anyway..can we still be friends...?”

Winter smiled at him. "You little idiot. Of course we can still be friends, that was forever ago. I've moved on and you must have too." Though a small part of him would always feel that way for the riolu, he had long since accepted that would never happen, even if it was possible once, all the way back then.

"I wouldn't mind that." He began walking to the house as well, cape crusted with snow. He smiled, hoping to lighten the mood up a little bit after possibly scarring his friend for life. Though he did find a little spark of happiness every time his foot sunk into the snow.

"That's what I was going for as this became my new accessory. Say, where is Mr. Daphnel now?" Winter was glad the ascetic of a hero was working out, but he wondered if the riolu would be at this island if his dad wasn't here. Maybe he could stumble upon him, too. That or maybe some other school friends? Was he pushing his luck?

“Dad’s around. Can’t tell you where he is though.” Emerald winked. “Man though, wish I could pull off the hero look like you!” He giggled, creating a large aura bubble in front of him. His father had a very important role, but he wasn’t allowed to divulge it

"You are naturally a hero-looking guy!" Winter replied cheerfully. He pawed at the bubble, remembering the good times with these back at school, especially on those days where he froze the dorm rooms. He cringed at the memory.

Emerald blushed lightly. “I really need a cape like you... but enough of that! Here’s to the old times!” Emerald picked up Winter and threw him onto the bubble. He then leapt on and started tickling his stomach. He LOVED cuddling up Winter and he had forgotten how much he missed it. “Ahhhh I missed you and your cuddles so much! I missed the bubble fun we had!” He squealed in excitement

"Remember when we made the bubble so squishy we almost turned into igglybuffs?" He giggled as he spoke, reacting from the light ticklings. He did look back on all the bubble fun, and always loved sinking into this little world after a stressful time at school. "That was the thing I missed so much about all that drama at school. And that chaos after that. With the uhh...weird amulets.." Honestly, he was surprised Summer wanted to keep doing that stuff, but whatever.

"Well, I guess that afterschool thing did get fun at times..." he muttered, then spoke up. "Give me your squishiest! Sir Emerald!" He enjoyed the cuddling, and the security of being with his friend. He wanted to relive a lot of those memories, but this one was buried back so deep he just begged to recover it.

Emerald giggled. “It’d be better if we both are on this bubble!” He inflated it until it was a giant size, and then he began manipulating it. Softer and softer, squishier and squishier. Emerald also managed to get the bubble to emit wobbling noises too. It was ridiculously comfy now, but impossible to stand up with falling over

Winter giggled as the bubble wobbled. "I don't know what is with you and bubbles, but I hope my settlement here has a lot of them, I'll say!" The bubble was bigger now, which meant they must be able to be spotted from afar, playing like children, but he didn't care. Emerald was the only pokemon that mattered right now. "So, how had Ruby been doing? Have you seen her?"

"Aww. I really missed you." he cut off as the bubble trembled like a squishy earthquake. Giggling like mad, he wrapped his paws around Emerald and licked him. It looked like he'd chosen a good place to move into. Maybe a relaxing life with his friend and that friend's crush would be just what he needed.
