Biologically, a tomato is a fruit. However, cooking-wise, it is used as a vegetable.

In nutrition tomato is a vegetable. In cooking tomato is a vegetable. Scientifically it is classified as a fruit. In Italy it is a sauce in Mexico it is a dip. In McDonald's it is a condiment. On rotten tomatoes it is a rating system.
