*Noel's shout echoes through the camp* 'Poor Noel, losing their apprentice to this horrible traitor. We have to stop this murderer. What if they try to kill someone else?'
'So, according to NightStar, it could only have been a warrior or medicine cat. If true, that would narrow down the suspicions somewhat, but there are still quite a few possibilities.'
Please help me level him up.~

The most unsettling thing of all this, was that the murderer was probably someone among them. And the other cats were now trying to figure out who could have done this.
"I don't really know who of us would be capable of this.. The cat who did this would have to be really, really heartless to hurt someone as innocent as Petalpaw," he added to the discussion.
"If it was a warrior or medicine cat, we have Noel, Brightash, Dove-eye and Snowblossom.. But I don't think any of them would do something like this. Still, it has to be someone.."
He thought it was somewhat suspicious that two of the warrior cats hadn't even turned up yet, but he couldn't really know anything for sure so he kept quiet about it.
Then Guru turned to NightStar. "Why do you think it could only have been a warrior or medicine cat?"

"It could be one of the apprentices too... They have learned from their masters and they could have this knowledge... I know my LeafSwirl would never kill another friendly cat so it has to be the warriors, medicine cat, or the other apprentices. I could also find a faint smell of marigold... Only the medicine cat and his apprentice know how to use it..." He claimed.
"I accuse Noel of murdering our sweet little PetalPaw!" he shouted. "It's an easy cover-up... He pretends to be in grief so he can throw us off his tail.... It doesn't make sense, though... Why would you kill her...?"
(Gonna be offline for 8 hours...Sorry (T-T) If we vote, I'm voting Noel.)

However, Petalpaw was the medicine cat apprentice. Isn't it possible that the smell comes from Petalpaw working with marigold herself? Or is there something about the situation that makes that impossible?"
*Thinking* 'I really hope it wasn't Noel. I know he saw Petalpaw as his child, I can't imagine him harming her. Especially because, if he was so heartless, why would he ever have become a medicine cat in the first place? And if it was him, I am terrified for Goldkit because there are clearly no limits to who he would kill.'

"The Marigold could have been from PetalPaw directly interacting with it while making medicine or herb-gathering but I doubt it. She didn't have a bunch of herbs with her and she hasn't been in the medicine den for a whole day. I was scouting yesterday and she never walked in it. That could only mean the marigold was there during the time of the murder..." NightStar replied.
"I saw PetalPaw as an innocent, optimistic child. She wasn't very cautious, though. That is probably why she was an easy target for whoever killed her...." He said. "I doubt she would just randomly through around her trust so the killer must be someone PetalPaw knows well."

*thinking about Nightstar's reasoning* 'I guess that makes sense. It is true that I did not see Petalpaw go in or out of the medicine den yesterday, though I was distracted by Goldkit much of the time. Still, it seems odd that she was not in there for a whole day. Considering I saw no signs of her being sick, the only way I could see that happening is if she was out gathering herbs with Noel, and even then it seems like she would have had to bring them back at some point. This would mean it was possible that she had gathered marigold. I don't know how long the scent normally lingers, so I still don't know if it could have remained from the previous day.'
'Nightstar's statement that it was probably someone PetalPaw knew well seems accurate. But I don't know for certain who she would trust enough and who she wouldn't. Obviously she would trust Noel, but who else? And this is assuming that the traitor was not able to just sneak up on her or hide behind something until she got close enough.'
'Now that I think about it, it is rather odd that she was outside of the den in the first place. What was she doing up late at night? Presumably she couldn't sleep or something like that, but I wonder.'
'Before I decide anything, I want to get some more details and hear Noel's side of this. I really don't want to believe he would do this, but I really don't know.'
*asks everyone in general* "Can anyone else confirm that Petalpaw was not in the medicine den? And for that matter, what was she doing yesterday if she never went into the den?"

Phoenixpaw waited for the panic to die down before speaking, although she didn't have much to say. "Who could be a traitor, though?" she whispered to herself.

"I was asleep. I woke up somewhat early, just after dawn, but didn't move and just went back to sleep. Goldkit would have woken up had I moved. For the most part, I doubt we will get any evidence this way, everyone will just claim to have been asleep.
Leafswirl's idea of comparing claw marks sounds like a good idea. I doubt it would tell us exactly who did it, but it would at least narrow down the suspects somewhat and say whether it was even possible that Noel did it or if it was an apprentice as Nightstar suggested by the size."
