"Dratini is resting..." she trailed off, and Tiger looked even more concerned.

"That's good, but what's wrong" he said sharply. Cyndaquil, who had been next to him nudged his trainer.

"Well you see he was critically injured in the fall, and though it's still very early I'm not sure if he'll be able to evolve" she said with a sigh. Tiger, and Cyndaquil froze, and looked at each other "though I'm not sure yet...I need to wait for him to wake up that way I can take a better look at him" she sighed.

Mira opened her mouth to say something, but found she had no words. "Do what you can," She finally mumbled gently, looking down to the ground.

Tiger nodded, and a bit more determined. "Tell me when he's awake...I wish to see if I can try and help him" he said evenly, and remembered how Cyndaquil had acted when he learned he couldn't evolve. "For now though...I'm going to the gym" he sighed.

Tiger nodded kindly, and looked back at Joy. "Just do what you can" he said gently, and walked out of the pokemon center. Cyndaquil looked at his paws as they walked. "Cyndaquil it'll be fine...Dratini was critically hurt, yes, but I don't think he lost his evolution chance" he said gently. Cyndaquil nodded hollowly, and continued forward in silence.

Mira stayed silent. Growlithe sighed somberly as Mira walked, and glanced back at the Pokemon Center. "Well. Are you ready for Misty?" She asked, trying desperately to change the subject.

Tiger looked over, and shook his head clear. "Yeah I'm as ready as I can be for Misty. Jolt, and Saffron will be the Pokemon I use against her, and Cyndaquil will be my backup" he said kindly. Cyndaquil nodded, and looked around the town silently. Tiger knew he was having flashbacks of when he was attacked, "after all Cyndaquil is one of my strongest Pokemon" Tiger said kindly and tried t cheer up his Pokemon.

Mira smiled. "Good plan! I bet that'll work out fine," She glanced around and saw the gym up ahead. "Oh, and a little heads up, her Staryu has the habit of dragging pokemon underwater."

Tiger nodded "thanks for a heads up. This time we know, and I've got a plan in case Cyndaquil falls into the water" he said with a mischievous smile. He didn't say anymore when he walked into the gym.

Mira instantly went over to the bleachers and sat, watching Tiger and the battle that was about to unfold. She let Ivysaur and Pikachu (who were surprisingly enough awake) out to watch as well.

Tiger sent out Jolt and went to Misty. "Misty" he called out, and looked up as the gym leader walked over. "I'm here to battle you" Tiger said kindly, and nodded a greeting.

"Hello, Tiger. Sorry about what happened yesterday...are you ready" she said coolly. Tiger nodded, and looked over to Jolt.

"I need to gain my Kanto badges to rematch Lance..., but I won't let what happened yesterday effect my battle" he said kindly. He nodded to Jolt, who jumped into battle, and sparked his fur energetically.

"Alright then" Misty said and threw a pokeball. Staryu came out, and spun to show it was ready to battle.

Tiger nodded, and glanced at Mira. He then looked back to the fight, and heard the Announcer speak, "Begin." Tiger looked over to Jolt, and then to Staryu, measuring up his opponent he thought of his first attack. "Jolt start it off with a thunder bolt" Tiger ordered swiftly. Jolt nodded, and used a thunder bolt.

Misty was about to call out for Staryu to dodge, when the move hit the pokemon. It took a chunk of health away. "Staryu counter with a rapid spin" Misty said swiftly. The pokemon gave a cry as it heard, and went straight at Jolt. The pokemon then knocked Jolt into the water swiftly.

Mira warned me about that...let's see Tiger thought for a moment. He then saw a ladder leading out of the pool. "Jolt use a thunder bolt" Tiger ordered quickly. He knew Jolt would be hit to, but he had volt absorb. Jolt then used a thunder bolt lighting the water up with electricity. Staryu, and Jolt then jumped out of the water, and Jolt balanced on a ladder step skillfully. The Jolteon was panting slightly, which showed he lost some health in the struggle underwater.

Mira looked to the Staryu, straining to see whether the pokemon was fainted or not. She couldn't see, but it was probably a safe bet that, with a move like that landing a hit, it was fainted.

Tiger looked over to Staryu. The pokemon struggled to fight on, but eventually he fell into the water, fainted. "Staryu is unable to battle. Jolteon is the winner" the announcer said energetically. Tiger nodded, and smiled.

"Staryu come back" Misty said, and returned her pokemon. Jolt then ran back to Tiger, who returned him. "Who will you choose next?" Misty said simply as she sent out Starmie.

Tiger thought for a moment, and glanced at Cyndaquil. He then grabbed Saffron's pokeball. "Saffron let's go" he said kindly, and sent out his Poliwag.

" Mie Star? Starmie mie! (A poliwag? This will be easy!") Starmie said with a laugh. Tiger, and Saffron just exchanged glances.

"Poliwag wag (You'll see)" he said mockingly. Tiger nodded and smiled as the announcer spoke.

"Begin!"

"Saffron let's start it off with a double slap" Tiger said quickly. Saffron ran at Starmie, and used double slap. The Starmie then grabbed Saffron by the tail, and threw him into the still electric water.

"Starmie use swift" Misty said coolly. Tiger thought for a moment, and knew Saffron was loosing health in the water. He then got an idea. It's risky... he thought lowly, but called out steadily.

"Dive!" Saffron nodded, and went underwater ignoring the electric as best he could.

Tiger waited patiently as the swift went into the water. He then saw Saffron just under the water, the pokemon was struggling to swim in the electric water. "Starmie hover above the water" Misty said swiftly. She was uneasy by Tiger's strange tactic. Starmie then went right over Saffron.


"Now!" Tiger said quickly. Saffron then jumped out of the water, and used a double slap sending Starmie into the water. The swift from the pokemon, still following Saffron, jumped out of the water, and hit both pokemon causing star fragments to break apart around them.

Saffron was panting heavily, he jumped back as the Starmie tried to fight back. The Poliwag looked exhausted, and looked like he would faint at any moment. "Saffron come back" Tiger ordered swiftly. He knew he made Starmie loose a lot of health, but he knew when to give up with a Pokémon. I don't want him to get hurt any worse... he thought sharply. Saffron nodded, and ran back. "Cyndaquil are you ready?" Tiger whispered lowly. "Starmie lost a good chunk of health...a good move will do the job" he whispered. Cyndaquil nodded, and ran onto the field.
