It seems that I'll have to buy a 2ds.

It seems we have three types of people here:

Type A: The nostalgic ones that are buying the game because they loved the original and want to see it in 3D.

Type B: The ones that aren't buying the game because they've already played/owned the original, and the new version is just a remake, after all. EDIT: And they're not paying $50 for something they already own.

Type C: The ones that are buying the game because they never played the original.
^And for anyone who hasn't played the original I'd recommend getting it, from personal experience. I bought a copy of SoulSilver when it came out, and I knew a previous copy existed but I'd never played it, so it was a brand-new experience for me and I freaking loved it.

Yes, I am not so hyped. But seriously it is a remake of the game most of us played at a young age. It can be like Black 2 and White 2, which where the setting can be in a different part of hoenn, or even a Region similar to hoenn! And not only that, but they may have Sceptile and Swampert mega evolutions, which I would be amazed to see even if the appearances are horrible.

Wait a second,THEY'RE NOT INCLUDING RAYQUAZA?!?! Why would they leave emerald out!?!? Rayquaza is one of my favorite legendaries!

When HG SS were made, Crystal was left out, same happened with Yellow.

Heard there was also a 'Sigma Emerald.'
Loved hoenn, kinda nostalgic to play a remake. This coming from someone who played them all, it's kinda weird not to play it before it gets released (yes, I played some before release).

But they did add aspects of Crystal to HeartGold and SoulSilver. (That Eusine guy was still going around stalking Suicune no matter the version you played. ) Which makes me think they'll add whatever different aspects Emerald had to the remakes. But in every game Rayquaza was still there, so it wouldn't make sense for them not to have Rayquaza... >.>;

And I will be incredibly surprised if they don't add Mega Swampert and Sceptile. We already have Blaziken. Also the Latios/Latias leaks from a while ago will probably be released about when OR/AS come out, but be downloadable on X + Y as well.
I'm thinking they'll probably add another set of Mega evolutions to the games. Or something similar. I noticed this interesting little bit of information on Serebii earlier today. "The Japanese arm of The Pokémon Company sent out an e-mail to all Daisuki Club members which ends up pointing out the differences to Groudon & Kyogre on the box-art, stating that they're showcasing "never before seen Pokémon", the same terminology they used for Black & White Kyurem, as well as Mega Mewtwo Y upon their reveal, indicating that they are more than stylised artwork of the Pokémon."
And as far as this goes, "The new titles promise to take players through a dramatic story within a spectacular new world." I don't even know what to think. It is confirmed a re-make and not a sequel, but it does still have the term "new world" in it. Maybe that's just their idea of saying same ole region, new graphics? Or maybe there will be added places, like the Sevii Islands in FR/LG.
And then there's still all the mysteries still in X/Y. Will that weird statue tie into this at all? Etc. Etc.
As a note for those hoping the game will be fully 3-D, I should probably dash your hopes now with what little I do know. If you look at any picture of the box art it will say "Playable in 2D. Some areas also playable in 3D." meaning not everything will be in 3D.
I don't know if it's necessary to state this or not, but almost no information has been released so far. Practically everything in this thread as of right now is speculation. All that's confirmed is the box art and that it is a re-make and not a sequel.
And. To end this incredibly huge wall of text, I'd just like to say I'm over the moon about this information. I played Ruby and Sapphire a few times each and loved 'em. I have high hopes for the re-makes and if they don't bring the Secret Bases back and enable some Streetpass feature to go with it I'm going to rage all over.

Death: I'm Type B. Exactly the last part; I'm not wasting 50 bucks. Now, if I got the chance to try it for free, I'll buy it if it's actually turned out good. However, that's not likely if it's a remake...

I very excited about the Mega-Sceptile and Mega-Swampert (if it real) with the trio weather fusion. I want to see how Rayquaza fusion with Groudon/Kyogre/both.

But at one point, I still don't have any 3DS :,(

I can't wait for these games. I'm going to buy Omega Ruby myself and (someone is going to buy) Alpha Sapphire to my little brother.

after X and Y, they ran out of names and just putting all the old version into the 3ds with fancier names..to me I wasn't even interested in X&Y nor bother getting a 3ds

Well, that's kinda what they did with HeartGold and SoulSilver. It's kind of a tradition. Or something. Idk.

But they have Mega Swampert and Mega Sceptile now. Mega Sceptile makes me almost want to pick Treeko. The only thing I can say is that they lost it with Swapert... The design makes sense, but it's just so...so...blegh.

I feel the same, Death. Sceptile's mega design looks amazing (even though we haven't gotten a good look at it from the front yet,) but Mega Swampert kind of looks...I don't know. Like a bloated toad? I've noticed that's been a common trend in the mega designs: The pokemon don't change much, they just get...wider.

But I still love Swampert. I'm sure that design will grow on me xD

I just pre-ordered my Alpha Sapphire. Strangely, I'm not liking Mega Swampert at all. The fins are exaggerated,
and I just don't like the design in general. Exactly what someone said in a previous post, it looks like a bloated toad. But I'm LOVING Mega Sceptile. The claws and everything just look so amazing.

Now.. Mega Diancie - Just, no. This thing didn't need to mega evolve at all.

The new forms of Kyogre and Groudon though, <3
