So there are a lot of people who get spammed with palpad messages when they aren't online, or don't wish to be disturbed. I thought that maybe we could have a system where we are able to set up a "voice mail" of sorts so that people know that you currently are away and unavailable.
Basically you can go to your settings, the same place where you edit your signature, and click a box that says "edit voicemail" to make your voicemail. Then you can click the palpad icon, and to make things simpler, you could put a checkbox on the top that reads "enable voicemail?" and click the checkbox to enable it so that people don't bother you as much. ^^
I know that mods and the more popular users get many messages like this so I thought this would help cut down on the amount of messages they have to read through every day. ^^
Please let me know if anything is unclear or why this shouldn't be implemented. Thanks.

This doesn't actually mean users won't bother you as much since right now this only tells that person that you're offline.

It'd help though. Because it'll tell people you're offline and unavailable, most people will look at it and think that they shouldn't be bothered at the time. ^^ Most people are tactful and will not bother them unless they're being rude on purpose.

But there is already another feature like this which is the green circle next to the users name of the palpad.

But some poeple leave a tab with PH open, and that's means they're still counted as online. I support this.

Haha. I though of this as well, just the other day. But I thought It'd be to hard to code. Support, but i doubt it'll be added.

Also, while some people are online, they do not want to be disturbed. I have a friend like this. While turning Palpad on to only friends helps, sometimes people don't wish to be bothered by their friends either. Another friend of mine CANNOT receive Palpad messages because of the device she uses, and it annoys her when she logs onto her account with a different device that supports Palpad to find messages there.

Was that referring to me kasu

I actually know how to make this better like

Instead of the voicemail letting people know you're away, your voicemail could prevent a user from messaging you at all like say my voicemail was like "Yooooo Im away right now"

that message would be blocking the type box like how it does when a user doesnt have a palpad or has theirs locked

@Shenzi
yes that was actually

That does sound great but it's mainly to prevent spamming because the user is away. I mean you could just put a single message there and then leave instead of spamming the user's palpad. ^^ Some users find PMing too much of a hassle, but I'll have your idea as something to think about.

Yeah yeah i know but my 3Ds shows messages, and I cant respond to them. I prefer that people dont send me messages at all so i dont get frustrated or forget to respond, so if you "voicemail" covers up the text box it makes it easier

y'know some people dont like to listen and they'll spam anyways

Maybe you could set it up so that you can pick whether you want to have it blocking all Palpads or just a voicemail :3 This would be helpful for mods since they can't turn off Palpad but they can set up a voice mail telling others that they are unavailable.

Instead of a voicemail, how about instead that there will be an orange filled circle next to the user instead of the typical green or grey?

To what Ryuzaki said, that would be a good idea, if you havent gone to a different page in 5 minutes then it would count you as Away, maybe even a Red cirlce for a Do Not Disturb!

Instead of having a voice mail coz ,many people don't own a speaker or maybe the speaker would be mute, we could have the box like this one

resisting the user to contact us. It could show the message "Not accepting any messages" kind of thing.
This would also require a lot of hard work by Riako to make the Voice Mail system, would be tough feature.

@Professor Sycamore: That's EXACTLY what I said. I actually put quotes around voicemail to signify that I didn't actually mean you required to speak.

I quite love this suggestion. I've seen two other threads that are similar(they were created after yours) if you would like to look at them.
