Yes the idea is very nice, but I think they the sprites don't belong here. Let's stop advertising for now. Please stay on topic.

96x96 pixels seem fine as this is the size of original Pokemon Sprites. Of course transparency would be a must.

Using programs like Photoshop for example. You choose the color you want to make transparent and turn the image into a gif.

I use Photoshop. I also turn the background an obnoxious color that isn't too close to colors on the sprites, to make sure I don't forget any spots. For the Mightyena, I used bright neon green. Neon yellow, pink, and red are also colors I use.

If you're going to make it PNG image, just make sure that you leave the transparent areas as they are, and you should be fine.

That's not the same. Photobucket is for uploading images, Photoshop is an image editing Program for use on your Computer.
But PLEASE stop talking about this now, this thread is to discuss about the idea of Events and not how to actually sprite.

I just took the conversation to PM, don't worry. Posting the Mightyena sprite was just to see if I might be good enough to maybe help create future events. Yes, I know the sprite had a few obvious flaws, but it isn't the finished prouduct.

EDIT: (Didn't feel like double-posting.) I was thinking maybe that if events were to have their own Pokedex entrees, maybe on the Pokedex page there would be a separate Pokedex (or maybe a link leading to a new page) that acts as a sort of "Eventdex" and registers event Pokemon. That way, people don't have to worry about their Pokedex not being complete because they missed an event, or the Pokedex constantly expanding. They can choose to complete only the Pokedex without worrying about the Eventdex, or the other way around, or maybe just try to fill out the Eventdex as new events take place.

And I still think it would be an idea to give out events or a sort of custom sprite as prizes in contests. I've seen this done on a site called Aywas. (Surprise! Something cool that isn't from another Pokemon egg clicking site!)

To clarify on the image size:
80x80 was used in the Generation IV games. 96x96 was used in the Generation V games. As this site uses graphics from Generation V, the size should be 96x96.

I use Paint.NET, but back to topic.
If there were to be Custom Sprite Events, if you were to put them on a Eventdex, It should say "A ___________ Custom Sprite." or the custom description of the Custom 'mon a player would describe.
96x96 is fine with me, but it would have to be centered very precisely, or at least very close.

Maybe if spriters eventually get hired, people could order one-of-a-kind custom sprites to replace one of their Pokemon using nuggets. Probably people would get a lot of their Pokesonas done.

It wouldn't really seem fair then, would it? I mean, Kolink and Kinchiona have their own Pokesonas, and only a select few have their own on VDex.

Perhaps only one-of-a-kind Customs can only be the only custom Pokesona a person can get.(If that was to be possible, I'd get mine of Elaine (the Gardevoir on my Avatar), but back to topic.) And those said Pokesonas couldn't be traded, to avoid someone getting more than one Pokesona.

Also, I think that the events shouldn't be able to rumble, because the event Pokemon could be alternately typed, and that wouldn't be fair to some people.

I agree with the non-rumbling events. Also, maybe an alternative for nuggets would be that you could get it once you reach a certain trainer level? It would give people time to think hard about what they REELY want to have as their custom sprite, instead of diving in headfirst and regretting their choice later. And maybe you could only own one custom one-of-a-kind requested sprite (it would be non-tradeable like you said), but be able to own as many events as you want.

Ba-ha, I return.

As for the birthstone trainers, I'm thinking of doing a set of 24 (12 male, 12 female) all based on their own respective stones. All will be free for users to use as their avatars, signatures, etc.

Sorry, just kind of popped up from my interview. n_n;

Ooh, custom pokesona.. I remember when Vdex did that event, that was my whole reason for starting spriting. =D It was a smashing hit, I totally recommend something similar here after you hit trainer level... 10? 15? Something that's distant, but not so distant that it's impossible.

*A little bit random, but it was discussed before, so not so much :P*

I think that, if Fakemon and Event Pokémon get their own "region section" for the Pokedex, it should be called "HeroDex" instead of "EventDex" x3 I just think it sounds really cool and I would like everyone's opinion on it C:
