Forum-Index → Suggestions → Implemented → EventsMy idea for the custom sprites, perhaps it shouldn't be a requirement for the pokedex. I think that there could be a new section on the Events page, with the wonder cards. After you collect a certain amount of wonder cards for custom sprites (like every 10 custom sprites), Professor Birch could give you a small reward (like some pokedollar or a small nugget or something like that).
However, I like the idea of custom sprites, and I agree that there should be some like that here.
As for egg images, I'm making ones for Kanto right now! If this is accepted, I'd be glad to let the site use them!
I am trying to keep them simple, and not way too unique, so that it's somewhat challenging to figure out what they are. As an example, here is one of them:

I won't say what it is, in case that makes it into a spoiler, but you can probably tell relatively easily.
Secondly, the way you phrased that was pretty rude, especially because, although it's true that this particular egg is easily recognizable, anything less obvious would be impossible to recognize (literally the only features that make it recognizable are the colors and the spots, and if you took away either one of those, you'd be left with "it's a greenish-teal" or "it has spots.")
I would also like to point out that none of your criticism is constructive. How would YOU make the egg less obvious? How would YOU make a spooky-looking Halloween event that doesn't scare people? These things can help someone improve, while simply shooting things down accomplishes nothing.
Lava, I like your sprite~
Well, like umbreon says is true, it's quite obvious, but still acceptable. I'm thinking of the basic egg sprite, just recolored with the pokemon it resembles, but we keep the green spots, and recolor it too. So, it's not very recognizable.
And, you can call me Lyth. ^^
As for events, I know Vdexproject does its own events when they can. I ADORE their events too. Their owner does rainbow pokemon for certain times of the year, they just finished a zodiac set that took the entire year to complete, and they do other really cool sprites for their site.
If there was an event department made up of people for contest ideas, event ideas, and sprite ideas, I think we could all come up with some fabulous events (Themed writing, gift giving events, birthday events, varied worldwide-related things) that are perfectly unique and original. They don't have to be monthly, but a monthly... thing might not be a bad idea. Like an egg hunt, and the person to get those eggs gets a unique pokemon and a special reward, like 5 small nuggets or something.
Ah.. there goes my rambling again. @_@; Sorry!
Oooh, what if we did event trainers? Every month a new trainer avatar would be available for free, and a birthday trainer for the month you were born in... /getting ideas, must stop
...Yup. Once I get back from my interview today I think I'm going to have to do prototypes for birthday trainers.

Anyway, before a submission system is created, we need to have rules for submission. Size of the image, what we are looking for, what we don't want etc.
Custom Trainers would be cool. Maybe some default Trainers available in an Avatar gallery to start with.
I believe there'd have to be tons of rules for sprite submission. I think a small team (4-5 people) of spriters to work on trainers and eggs first wouldn't be the worst idea in the world if things like that are approved. The team could start off with little events and after some have been established, maybe open the events to custom sprites, not every time, maybe once or twice a year, choose 2-3 pokemon to release for a week.. /acks, stops again
I really need to stop rambling.

I forgot to fix the mouth, I need to fix the outlines in some parts, and I think the disk could be better, but overall I think it turned out pretty good. It's 96 x 96 pixels, but I can resize it if needed once I fix a few things. I got the idea for it when Umbreon requested an Okami version of Lucario.
