Ok, so I came up with an idea that I imagine would look like the Auction House.

Basically, what it is is a place where you can "ask" to borrow a certain pokemon. This would be a risk free way to let people borrow pokemon, because the pokemon will be safe and returned no matter what. Here's how it'd work:

Let's say Person A wants to borrow a Ditto for a week to breed Genesect. What they'd do is go to the borrow center and put that they want to borrow Ditto for one week. Now Person B who wants to let them borrow it won't have to worry about losing their valuable pokemon for good. An option could be to add money to your request. So it'd look like this: Person A would like to borrow Ditto. Time: 1 week. Return: Tuesday 3:00. Payment: 10,000 Pokedollars.
The person can also choose to return it early.

A pokemon that is borrowed is locked onto the account of the borrower until the time is up when it'll be automatically returned. In other words, it cannot be traded or released. I came up with this idea a while back, but seeing how common scamming is and how much trust is dwindling on this site, it'd be nice to have a way to let people borrow pokemon and let the person who let them borrow them have a clear mind and not worry that they'll never get their pokemon back because of scamming or a person getting their account locked.

New idea from Book's post: There could also be an option to borrow a pokemon for the rumble Maps. Basically, once a pokemon has return from the Map mission, it'll automatically be returned to its original user.

Thanks for the support, everyone! I feel like this suggestion would be great for everyone involved (well, except scammers maybe) whether they be lenders or borrowers. I'll use myself as an example. Me, I never let people borrow valuable pokemon unless I trust them very, very, VERY much --and even then I might not let them borrow a pokemon. It's not because I'm selfish and don't want to help people, it's because I'm afraid I'll never get my pokemon back. However, if this suggestion were to be implemented I would be helping people out left and right since there's no risk in it for me.

Does borrowing Pokemon mean that you will only borrow it for breeding purposes? You cannot use it for any other purpose?

If I can use it for rumbling, I can borrow a high-level fire Pokemon just to finish my Terra map.

Book: Hm, you bringing up rumble areas is pretty important. Maybe there can be an option for rumbling, but that would have to be a completely separate thing.

I'll add a new idea to reflect that in the first post.

This will stop anymore scams happening by lending pokemons. I have seen a lot of cases where the lenders could not get back their pokemons from people who make use of their kindness for their advantages.

I don't know how this suggestion will be implemented, but I just have small suggestion for it.

>Since the borrower can borrow a pokemon from the lender and never send for rumbling, the pokemons are automatically put for rumbling as soon as they get it (And the borrower need an empty explorer bag before accepting it)

>For dex completion, the pokemons are returned to the lender maybe an hour after the borrower accept the pokemons needed. (As someone might just borrow a pokemon and never return it if they are returned when the dex is completed)

Please just ignore my suggestion if they aren't good xD

Thanks for correcting my flaws. I think Navuso is right on that :) I think I was too excited when I saw this suggestion.. sorry.

Not sure how and if this will be technically possible, but I'd love to see it implemented!

I fully support this idea but I would like to point out one flaw(?)

Since everyone will be able to borrow pokemon easily with this system, won't it make completing the pokedex even easier? I'm pretty sure this dex completion is a big deal and plays a big role in this site and with this system, it might end up not as challenging anymore. In other words, it will lose its value(???)

I apologize for my weak english but I hope this makes at least a little sense. o-o

Dcasom: I don't really see that as a problem since that already happens. The only thing this will do is ensure that scammers can't use "completing my dex" as a way to trick people to steal their pokemon. However, there can be a limit placed on how many pokemon are borrowed by a user at a time.

I hope this is possible to implement. It would make this site so much better, imo.

User: I like your idea. I think that could work out quite nicely.

I would love to see this implemented. I am almost to the point in completing my dexes that I'm going to have to start asking to borrow a select few of legendaries, ditto included. I honestly hate having to ask to borrow anything, especially when I have nothing that can equal it's value for collateral. A feature like this would solve the scamming issue, and help those who are lacking the rarest pokemon on PH.

(Ninjaed by Diana XD)And to reply to Dcasom's concern, maybe players would only be able to borrow a limited amount of pokemon at one time. In all honesty, the only four pokemon that have a true need for being borrowed for dex completion are ditto, zapdos, moltres, and articuno. The only pokemon that would truly need to be borrowed for breeding is a max of two. For rumbling, a max of 6.

Quote>Since the borrower can borrow a pokemon from the lender and never send for rumbling, the pokemons are automatically put for rumbling as soon as they get it (And the borrower need an empty explorer bag before accepting it)

Why? In doing this, you're basically forcing the user to either give up a rumble slot for an unknown amount of time, or you're forcing both users online at the same time to complete this transaction.

I think it would be better if you were given 25 hours to get the rumbler out on a mission after borrowing it, which would prevent this issue. (25 hours because of special areas like Route 102. That way you have an hour after they return to send out the borrowed pokémon)

Also, what about the users who lend out their pokémon to a user for MULTIPLE runs though the map areas? I mean, with this feature, instead of bringing it back and sending it right back out, still on agreed terms, now it's a sent it out, bring it back in, set up another lending trade to get it back and repeat.

That or you're back to what we currently have and will just have to trade it to the user, which risks the scamming...

>For dex completion, the pokemons are returned to the lender maybe an hour after the borrower accept the pokemons needed. (As someone might just borrow a pokemon and never return it if they are returned when the dex is completed)[/quote]

Again, this would have seriously hindered me when I was trying to complete my dexes. I was lent the legendary birds before my friend with the Ditto came online. So by the time my friend came online to let me borrow the Ditto, I would have lost the birds due to the lending.

I do think there needs to be some limit on this, but in all honesty, these two additional suggestions are a bit flawed and would make what is already done a bit more complicated.

As for the original idea, I came into this thread thinking "Why would we need that" and "I probably won't support" but it's such a well done idea that even I can forsee myself using it from time to time. Especially the borrowing Ditto to breed the legendaries. (Since I need to eventually breed Deoxys, Genesect, and Arceus. And borrowing a Ditto to breed with the Beldum line when that mega gets added will be a big want for the community)

Bumping this thread and support~

What if there were limits when borrowing pokemon? Like, 5 a day/week?

Now, I'd say that's a task well taken care of! Uh… were you expecting something more?
