Zeta smiled, seemingly satisfied with Maurina's answer. She then turned to me. "And you?" I shrugged, my arms still crossed. "I lived here, in New York City, with my parents. When the Ex showed up we packed our things and ran. We didn't learn about the abilities until later, when I ended up teleporting us to the top of an eight story building. Both of them died not long after that." My throat seized up for a moment, forcing me clear my throat. "Anyway I spent the last year and a half on my own, until four days ago, when I met Maurina. After I rescued her from a... difficult situation, we traveled here."

I hugged him as he spoke. It couldn't have been easy on him. "Difficult situation?" I snorted, pulling back to look up into his face. "I would have died....or worse....But you came and found me. You saved me. I wasn't living, I was surviving," I kissed his cheek. "I didn't know what living was for a long time. But you fixed that."
I turned back to the council members still in the room and blushed slightly. But it had been true! And I didn't take it back. "Any other questions?"

I smiled at Maurina. God, I loved her! I could search the whole world and never find someone as sweet and charming as her. Zeta looked at me, ignoring Maurina's affectionate displays. "Well? We have no further questions. Would you care to elaborate on what Delilah found?" I stared at her, cold and unblinking. Why must they try to dig up these long buried sins? What made them think they had a right to? Had it simply been Maurina asking, alone in our room, I most definitely would have told her. And I probably would later tonight. Well Jacob, what will it be? Are you going to tell them about us? About what we did? No... I would be spilling my darkest secrets to this "Council" any time soon. I looked at Pete, sitting to the side, awqy from the action. He wore an apologetic look, though he still seemed slightly curious. Perhaps I could tell him. He had shown us nothing but fatherly kindness and love, even though we had done nothing to deserve it. If I were to tell anyone other than Maurina, it would definitely be him. "I'm sorry, but I prefer not to talk about my past. I hope you understand." Zeta leaned back in her chair, looking disappointed, while Hamilton wore a look of disaproval. "Well." Zeta said. "I'm sorry to here that. I understand that you wish to keep your past actions to yourself, but if whatever you did is as bad as Delilah thinks, then you may be a threat to our people. If you won't tell us what it is then we'll have to have Delilah pull i-" And earth shattering crash shook the building to its foundations. The sounds of breaking glass and metal on asphalt tore through the air. Pete jumped to his feet, before rushing out of the room. "What was that!?" Hamilton asked, his eyes wild and his breaths shaky. What could have made that noise? It sounded like... like a hundred car crashes. I gasped at the realization. A peice of the wall had come down!

I just about jumped up and slapped her! Who in the hell was she to talk to Jacob like that? I bristled as she kept talking. I did not like her train of thought. I realized what she was planning to do and was seriously considering doing something I knew I would regret when all of a sudden, the ground shook! Like a startled rabbit, I clung to Jacob. When I looked outside and saw a piece of the wall had come crashing down, I was seriously afraid! Someone strong had to have caused that. The question was who was it and who's side were they on? I looked on in fear as a few Ex wondered in through the new hole in the wall.
"Jacob! We have to find Brutis and Jeff. I don't want anything to happen to them and now there is an open door for the entire EX population of the city to walk through," I saw still attached to his side even though we had both shot to our feet. I had pulled out my fans and was rubbing my thumbs along the side of the cold metal that held it together.

I grabbed Maurina's hands, bringing them to my lips. "Go find Jeff and Brutis. I have to help Pete." I kissed her. "I love you." I rushed off after Pete. Once I got outside I saw that the situation was worse than I had thought. A large portion of the south wall had been smashed. Smoke rose from the ruins as Ex poured through. The Ex looked much stronger than any I had ever seen. About two dozen men and boys were mobilizing a several yards away. Pete was shouting orders, trying to ready them for battle. Running over, I was surprised to see that Pete was not handing out guns, but swords of different shapes and sizes. When he saw me he gave a relieved sigh. "You've come to help. Good. I was worried that after the nonsense those fools were spouting, you might take this crisis as the perfect cover for an exit." I grabbed one of the shorter blades. "I'm not just going to leave you guys to die." He smiled at me, turning back to the defenders. "Alright men, grab a weapon. Remember to aim for the head. That should kill any of them." Suddenly an Ex teleported directly behind one of the men. The creature was tall and pure black, with glowing green eyes. It chomped down on the mans arm, lifting him into the air. Before we could do anything, it gave a sharp tug on the man's torso, tearing the arm off at the shoulder. I charged it, swinging the weapon I had grabbed, but to late. It was gone. Pete had two others carry the man back towards the mall, where a medical shelter was being constructed.

"I love you too! Be careful!" I shouted after him as he took off. I flicked my fans open, needing the reassurance of the cool light metal. I weaved through the men and woman trying to get who knows where. I gave a short, sharp whistle that I hoped would bring Bru and Jeff running. I asked anyone who listened if they'd seen Jeff. No one seemed to have seen him or was too far gone to answer me.
Without warning, a sharp, painful sensation radiated off of my shoulder. I turned, striking out at the Ex who'd snuck up on me. It was nearly invisible, explaining how it had gotten so close. I couldn't tell if it had bit me or something else. But boy, I feel funny. I stumbled slightly, swinging out at the creature. I managed to knick it's shoulder, but I think that's only because it was reaching for me again. I brought my fans up to attack and it hit me, stunning me. I was really confused, my mind sluggish. Before I knew it, my fans lay on the ground and the thing had me in it's arms.
"...Taking you...with me..." It breathed into my neck. "...taste...good..."
"...no..." I shook my head, trying to clear it, trying to remember how to scream.
It took off then, keeping me invisible.

I rushed forward into battle, slicing and cutting any Ex that dared stand in my way. Though Pete had tried to organize the fighters, they soon deteriorated into a scattered mass of blades and powers. Had they been ordinary people, they would have been destroyed in seconds, but with the help of their abilities many were able to hold their own against several Ex at once. I saw a man hurling blobs of magma at several insectoid Ex, which shrank back at the heat. I could also see a teen holding his arms in the air, producing a blue colored field of energy that prevented Ex from reaching him. When ever someone needed a break from the fighting, all they had to do was duck through it. A large multi-headed hydra rushed towards me. Rolling sideways, I plunged my sword through its heart, killing it quickly. Standing, I surveyed the battlefield. Though I could see a few casualties, we were doing well. At this rate we would be able to clear out the Ex within an hour or two, with no real harm done to the community. I watched as one of our fighters shot a beam of energy, dragon ball z style, through a large Ex armor plated head. As the beam fizzled, I noticed a strange warped looking area in the air. I wouldn't have noticed it had it not been for the red light of the laser. It moved quickly across the lot, making large circles around the fighters. Whatever it was it did not want to get caught. I followed it silently, wondering were it was headed. At first I thought it might be a human, as it had been coming from the direction of the mall, but the way it moved was to erratic. It would be moving slowly and jerkily, then it would surge forward suddenly. I kept a safe distance behind, following until it had almost reached the breach in the wall.

(Sorry for the long wait. The concentration camp known as school has been crushing my creative spirit XD)

The Ex suged forward again, then paused. It listened and looked about. When it stopped to listen, I tried to distract it. Maybe someone would hear us.
"...what...do...me?.." I asked, struggling to stay awake. I to get back to Jacob!
It bent over me and licked my face! Leaving a trail of slimy saliva behind. I wanted to wipe it off, but wasn't able to. My arm didn't seem to get the message.
"...toxins...make you...sleep..." it huffed, "...going to...keep you...breed you...eat babies..."
I couldn't possible heard this thing correctly! My brain was still like cotton. It didn't really plan to breed me like some farm animal and eat my children! It had to be my fuzzy thoughts running wild, right? Panic boiled over in me.
He, I knew it was a he now based on the look he gave me, laughed then, a horrible gurgling sound that made my blood run cold.
The panic inside me had reached levels I didn't even know were there. Something was happening in my shoulder. My mind cleared just a little bit.
"JACOB," I screamed.
The Ex growled and bit my neck this time. It's toxic saliva spreading through me. The brief clarity I had was suddenly gone. I started seeing things.
Hold on, baby. You have to hold on for Jacob. Just stay awake for a few more minutes, honey, her mothers ghost told her.
Come on, sis! Just a little longer! her bother chimed.

Maurina! Whatever that thing was it had taken her! I teleported in front of the creature, causing great it to stumble back. "Let her go." I growled, tightening my grip on the sword. "Go... away..." It hissed. "She... mine!" I wanted to swing at it, to hack into its see through body, but I held back. I couldn't risk accidentally hitting Maurina. "No, she is mine, and if you want her than you'll have to kill me first. It snarled. "Ok" then lunged at me, dropping Maurina in the process. I brought my blade up to attack, when it connected with something the creature was hold. A loud clang echoed from both my sword and the thing's invisible weapon.

I hit the ground hard! Rolling, I got out of the way. Seeing Jacob in trouble, panic rose in me once again. This time, I could feel a tingling sensation in my neck and shoulder. And there was another tingling in my abdomen. Whatever it was, it seemed to clear my head and I could move better. I looked around, franticly searching for a weapon to hit the thing with. I found a discarded twisted metal rod and picked it up.

I saw Maurina raise herself slightly an old pipe in her hand. "No!"I wanted to scream. "Run! Get out of here!" But I stayed silent, not wanting to draw the creatures to her. Suddenly the thing lunged forward, cutting itself on its own weapon, and chomped on my wrist. I let out a yell, ripping the mans teeth out of my flesh. I slashed wildly, but missed, my mind filling with fog. I dropped to my knees, unable to stand. The man cackled, standing before me. I wanted to stab him, to kill this thing that had tried to take Maurina away from me, but my body wouldn't respond. A searing, blinding pain ripped through my chest. My mind was on fire! I looked up to see the man his arm raised in triumph, holding the still beating heart he had torn from my chest. Everything faded to white, then, blackness.

"NO!" I screamed and surged forward. "JACOB!"
Without thinking, I plunged the pipe into the Ex's eye. It went deep.
The Ex screamed and dropped to the ground. I couldn't care less what happened to it! I gently grabbed Jacobs heart. Instinct took over and I placed it back into his chest.
"DON'T YOU DARE DIE ON ME!" I sobbed and placed my hands over his chest. "Jacob! I need you! Please! Come BACK!"

I stood alone in an empty expanse of white. I turned back and forth, searching for any sign of life, but I could see nothing. Then I started to hear whispers, voices I had long since repressed. My parents. They were telling me to sleep, to rest my eyes. Your work is over now, they said. Its time to rest. A noise behind me made my drooping eyelids snap open. Turning I was met by the monster. My Ex. He stared at me with his cold black eyes. "What are you?" Black words appeared above the creature, contrasting the stark white background. WRATH, GREED, PRIDE, LUST, VENGEANCE, HATE. "It is what makes you human" A voice said, as the creature's tongues twitched slightly. "It is temptation. It is mankind's bad HABIT." It cocked it's head sideways slightly. "It is the real you, the one you keep buried away. Everyone has one, though each is unique." I shook my head "No." I said. "I am not the same as this monster. I will not believe it!" My eyes opened to sunlight filtering through smoke. Maurina leaned over me, tears streaming down her face. Her hands were pressed to my chest, which felt like it was filled with acid. I saw a pipe dragging itself away into the darkness. I ignored it, keeping my eyes on Maurina. I moved my hand to hers, feeling the blood, my blood, ozzeing from beneath her fingers. I coughed, tasting blood. "Hi sweetheart." I forced a pained smile. I had to be strong for her. I knew I was dying, and this was my chance to say goodbye. "Do-don't worry. Brutis and Pete will take good care of you. I'm s-sorry we didn't get to spend enough time together. I'm still glad I married you though."I could feel my mind fading. "I love you so m-much. Good bye..." My vison faded, bluring into nothing, but before my mind went dark I felt something. Something taking hold.

He's eyes fluttered open and he was saying his goodbyes! My husband of less then a day was leaving me! His bleed literally seeping out through my fingers! And I couldn't even see him! Tears clouded my vision and made the dark, dead world around me sparkle.
"NO! You are taking care of me!" I told him fiercely. "Jacob! So help me! You come back this instant!"
Instinct took over and I took a deep breath. I kissed him, not caring that there was blood on his lips. I spread my fingers out wide and a deep blue glow surrounded them. A tingling sensation took over and I watched as the tissue and muscle of his chest cavity reknit itself and protect his amazingly kind heart. After the skin of his chest reworked itself, leaving no sign of ever being damaged, I moved my hands over the rest of him. I healed every cut, bruise and scratch on his body. I was horribly drained by the time I was finished, but Jacob was whole and unhurt.
"...Jacob?...Love...Come back..." I whispered, my head on his chest.

I was floating in a sea of peace, calm bliss filling my body. I could feel Maurina doing something to the body I had left behind. It tugged at me willing me to return. But why? I was happy here. Everything was so peacful... I suddenly felt as if i had been hit by a bus, which dragged me back to my body. I gasped, jerking upright, my body tingling with energy. My claws scraped against the asphault, leaving long scratches. My tongues writhed wildly behind my fanged grin. Whatever Maurina had done, it had purified my Ex. No open wounds or oozing cysts covered my body. I stared down at her with my solid ebony eyes. I felt whole. I felt... Alive!

"Jacob?" I asked, looking up at his handsome face. "JACOB!"
I tackle hugged him. I didn't care what it looked like or that there was blood around us. He was whole and alive! I placed my hands on either side of his face and kissed him, long, passionately, deeply.
"Jacob! You have to stop giving me heart attacks!" I told him, breathing heavily and resting my forehead against his. I put my hand over his heart, feeling it pump, strong and steady.

I could see Maurina, feel her touch, taste her lips. They were the sweetest feelings in the world. We had survived! We were both alive, and she is mine. I put my clawed hands on either side of her head, stroaking her hair. She was so beautiful, even with the grime and tear stains. And she is mine I kissed her. "I love you so much. I won't ever leave you again." I noticed the bite marks on her neck and shoulder. Rage flared up in me, scorching my insides. Who dared to hurt my Maurina!? What maggot had damaged my perfect one "You're hurt! What happened?"

"Hey," I still held his head in my hands, "Jacob, look at me...Hey...It's alright, I'm fine. I already took care of him. He's gone and dead. I'm alright."
I kissed him again, memorizing him.
"He took me from over by the mall. He snuck up and bit my shoulder. He had some sort of toxins in his saliva. It...I couldn't think strait. But then I felt this tingling sensation in my shoulder and abdomen and the fog cleared. He bit me again, and then it happened again, with my neck too. I think...maybe I self healed? But when I healed you, I didn't feel anything in my abdomen..."
I put a hand over my stomach now and looked back at him. "Maybe it's just when I heal myself. Jacob? Let's go find Brutis and Jeff. And then, I'm so tiered. Can we go crash soon?"

"Of course dear." I said grinning. "Whatever you want." Her face was so close to mine, I could smell her. It was wonderful, a rich aroma of ocean and flesh. My eyes roamed lustily over every inch of her, examining her curves. I felt a strong urge to simply take her here and now, whenther she liked it or not, but another feeling overpowered it. Hunger, I wondered what she would taste like. Sure I had tasted her lips, and some of her skin, but what would her blood taste like? Her flesh and bones? I opened my fang ringed mouth, allowing three tentacle like tongues to shoot out, wrapping around her head and neck, restricting movement. Some part of me said I should stop, that this was my wife, but the fact that it was forbidden only made me want it more. I was about to chomp into her beautiful face when something hit me. Hard. I was thrown back, feeling something sharp cut my stretching tongues as I flew. Picking myself up I growled at the shaggy red and black beast. I was the bird creature we had met on the beach. I grinned horribly at them, moving to stand in the hole in the wall. I cackled maniacally, bolting out into foggy streets, and shouted over my shoulder, "I'll be back for you my love!"

(While Jacob does his own thing, I'm going to be using the NPC's alot. I want to fill in a few characters back stories before I unveil my twist ;))

He sounded so funny. "Jacob? Jacob? Please, answer me."
Then he attack! He attacked me! Or rather, his monster did.
"JACOB! STOP! P-p-please! This isn't you! Come back!" I screamed, begging for him to stop. The scary thing was that he didn't! I struggled, trying to free myself from his grip. It was useless! And I didn't have anything to use to make him back off. Not that I'd be able to stomach hitting him. Then the bird creature come! He/her threw Jacob off of me. And then Jacob ran!
"JACOB!" I scream, going to run after him, to talk him back to my husband! My lover! My soul mate! But the bird creature stopped me. I let out a heart wrenching cry. Somewhere close by, Brutis picked up my horrible song.
I was inconsolable. Nothing anyone did could make me care. Somehow, I ended up back in the penthouse. I stood in the doorway to the bedroom just looking at the rose petals.
