My suggestion is a button on the auction house, like the missing dex entry button or shinies, that shows all pokemon that are holding items. If it used the same format as the promoted auctions, showing the items on the search page, you can easily find the item you're looking for, or else find a really good deal on something new.
What does everyone else think?

You can just buy the item you want from Forum Shops. They usually sell items without the increased price of an extra Pokemon (unless you're looking for the Pokemon AND the item he's holding, then it would make sense to have this).
I am neutral with this. Sometimes the item the Pokemon is holding is rarely found in shops, so it would be nice to have this, but most items are usually sold cheaper at shops than with an extra Pokemon.
(P.S. I cannot see why you would get an item you want from the auction. It can be cheap if no-one bids on it much or if the starting price is low, but if people bid on it then it will be expensive. And a lot of people make the starting prices too high :b.)

Basically, its not really any different from shinies. Sure, you can probably find every shiny up on the auction house on the forums for cheaper, but sometimes people just want to bid for it. Is it the most cost-effective way? No, but that's no reason not to give them the means to do so.

I wanted to state this, because this would be a big problem and if Riako wants to implement your idea, he needs to keep this in mind.

You did make me think of something else though (or maybe what you actually meant?), and that's that someone could spam berry auctions so that people see his auction instead of another, similarly priced auction, or else as a means of getting more publicity for their shiny/mega able.
I can think of two ways around this. First, have berries not display on the items sub section (Since who would honestly pay extra for a berry?). Second, Berries could have a whole sub-section. In that case, it might actually be counter-productive since as I already mentioned, no one searchs the auctions for berries.
Any other ideas would be welcome though.

So if this is one of ideas, pokemon could be put on this list and somewhy promoted (this list would be much shorter than list with all auctions) just by giving it a berry.
As my English is not really the best, I'll give one example:
One user want to sell, for example, lugia or some event, instead of selling it normally and promoting the auction, he/she could give lugia to hold something that doesn't worth much (not just berry, fire stone could be also given) and that way, lugia would be somehow promoted, it would be in auction house section with much less pokemon and much easily found there and doesn't need to pay promotion.
That is what I thought, if it is still not understandable, nevermind, while I was writing this I found it (my thinking) stupid at some point.
Just by blocking option with berry is enough (maybe) to block abusing of this part of auction house.
