Fernshade padded over to Nightshade, her footsteps a bit weak and soft. The expression in her eyes was bitter and tired. "I don't know, Nightshade." She said quietly. The rest of DawnClan began to wake up. They looked scrawnier than before and there wasn't as many of them. "Let's just hope we survive."

(Can I do a time-skip to after the next Gathering?)

Title: After the next Gathering

Fernshade awakened to the early morning. The sun had not yet rose and all of DawnClan was asleep. Cautiously the queen glanced around. Flanks and stomachs breathed steadily, and not one member was awake. Her heart sunk. I have to do this. She thought, recalling the Gathering she'd insisted on going to before.
Stealthily she scooped up her two young kits by the scruff and slipped out of the Nursery. She stopped. The camp was noiseless, and the birds were asleep as well. Her kits squirmed but did not awaken. With careful paw steps, Fernshade crept outside of camp and headed south.

The she-cat listened to the sound of the stream roaring. She was at the end of the boundary between DawnClan and StreamClan. The cold air brushed through her fur, but she had curled around her kits and was more determined to keep them warm rather than herself. A twig cracked, and Fernshade looked up urgently.
"It's just me." A tom meowed, and a red-brown warrior came out from hiding. "Redfern..." Fernshade mewed quietly, and rose to her paws. The river's roars almost drowned all the noise. "Are you sure you want to do this? They won't remember you." Redfern meowed loudly. Fernshade nodded at the StreamClan warrior. "Yes." She said firmly. Her heart said no.

They'll be safer here. They won't starve. They won't die. Fernshade padded into the shallow part of the river, her paws wetting. So did Redfern. Echokit squirmed, but Fernshade comfortingly licked her younger kit's head once the kit was in Redfern's grasp. "Goodbye, my young ones. You'll be safe in StreamClan." She mewled softly.
Redfern looked up. "What about their names? Wouldn't those be a dead giveaway?" The StreamClan warrior meowed. "Call Echokit Maplekit from now on, and Thornkit... call him Dustkit." Fernshade replied. "Very well. Farewell, younger sister." Redfern's tail wavered. "Farewell." Fernshade padded away.

Storm padded out of the apprentices den. "No warrior name, and still an apprentice, I look at older than those apprentices." He complained. He looked around to see if everyone was safe and sound but saw no sign of FernShade. "Hmm. Strange." He said to himself, and waited for the she-cat to return.

Fernshade shortly returned to DawnClan camp (after rubbing against some trees to eliminate the scent of StreamClan) empty-handed, and realized this painfully after she stepped into camp. I'm such a mouse-brain! She cursed mentally, but then quickly found a cover-up for it--she was bad at hunting in the first place and it was leaf-fall. Cats were beginning to awaken. Surprisingly, Storm was already awake. The former kittypet's adjusted nicely. I should give him more credit, though. Fernshade padded over to Storm. "How's your apprenticeship going?" She asked.

Storm looked at her. "Where are your kits?" He asked, raising his head.

Nightshade and other cats spun around facing Fernshade, glaring at her.

(All I could think of...)

Fernshade yawned, her tail flicking. She was somewhat semi-skilled at lying. "Echokit and Thornkit should be in the Nursery," the queen lied.

"I heard movement in the Queens den and I woke up from the noise. I saw you leave camp with them." The observant cat replied, narrowing his eyes at her. "Where did you take them?" He demanded, like a leader would with an icy-cold stern voice.

Mouse-dung. Fernshade thought grimly, wishing she'd payed better attention to her mentor when learning about stealth. Her intimidating dark-blue gaze narrowed as she had to slightly look down to meet Storm's gaze. "Some secrets are too complicated to share, Storm. You wouldn't understand." She said icily, a hint of a hiss in her tone.

"Some cats should pay more respect to others and think about what they are doing to kits before they let them go, this clan is improving and all you are doing is getting rid of our soon to be warriors." He replied, growling a little.

Fernshade's long, sharp claws unsheathed. She sharpened them daily and could use them very well--one of the first things her rogue mentors had taught her in her early moons. "You won't truly understand most of my actions until you know what I've been through--and you never will. A queen does what's best for her kits." She hissed darkly, her ears pinning back.
A ginger paw prodded Fernshade's flank, and she turned to see Gingerleaf. "Fernshade, will you help me train my apprentice for battle?" The she-cat asked. Fernshade nodded, and padded out of camp and to the Training Barren with Gingerleaf.

Storm flattened his ears and padded over to the leaders den, "May I enter?" He asked, poking his head through the rocks. "I think im getting a bit old to be an apprentice, im taking up too much space in the den, and the apprentices don't like it, and I feel bad for them."

Reedstar was talking with Mintcloud, whom he had been spending a lot of time with lately. His tail perked up as he saw Storm enter, and he nodded curtly (but slightly uncomfortably) at Mintcloud. She nodded back and padded out of the den. He turned to Storm. "I've acknowledged that you've progressed a lot since you've joined. Yes, I suppose it is the time. When would you like to take your warrior assessment?" The leader meowed.

Storm nodded slowly. "When do we begin?" He asked, in a calm neutral tone. He sat down, his paws neatly together and his tail curled round them. His grey pelt looked black from inside the den, and light leaked from the entrance showing off some of the grey. His sky blue eyes leer light more mysterious, looking into them would make you dream of a sunny day when the sky was clear, there was no flaw in the cats appearance.

Reedstar's tail flicked in approval, a little chuckle before he spoke. "I like your attitude, Storm. I suppose we can start right now... We'll do your Hunting Assessment, which can be assessed by Nightshade... Fernshade, too... and your mentor." The leader meowed.

(Who was Storms mentor?)

Storm nodded. "I will go and gather them, and tell them about it, many thanks." He padded out of the ned and plodded over to NightShade, she was playing with the kits who lost their mother during kitting. "Nightshade, you've been requested to keep watch on my Hunting assessment." He started.

Nightshade rolled onto her stomach. "Very well."

(Dunno let's make it a tom-cat called... Wildgaze.)

Fernshade padded back into camp, a slight scratch on her flank. It was nothing serious. Gingerleaf and her apprentice, Stillpaw, followed behind her. Stillpaw was a peaceful young she-cat with black fur and light blue eyes, whom hoped to have the name Stillwind when she was a warrior. She looked with admiration towards Storm, who was only a moon older then her--she was eleven moons and about to become a warrior. "You did well fighting." Fernshade commented to the apprentice before padding off towards Nightshade.
"Hello, Nightshade." She greeted, her tail flicking smoothly. The young kits of their deceased queen looked up at her. "Where's Thornkit and Echokit?" They asked eagerly, bouncing around. "They should be in the Nursery sleeping." Fernshade lied, for it was such a nice day that no cat had stayed in their dens since dawn, except for their one stubborn elder. She then turned to Storm, her eyes slightly narrowed. She had a disliking towards him ever since he joined DawnClan, but it was not because he was formerly a kittypet. "I see you're having your Hunting Assessment." She said rather icily.

"Yes, I've been asked to have you, NightShade and WildGaze come with me for it." He replied. He was now a very tall cat, but he was only a little muscular, this deceived this opponents as he was pretty strong. "Are you ready to come with me?" He asked, fixing his gaze on her.
NightShade padded off to the Warriors den. "WildGaze.." She said softly, prodding him with one of her forepaws. "What..?" He replied groaning, and started to stretch. "Your apprentice is going for his assessment, his hunting one. You need to come with me and FernShade to assess him." She replied. "Very well." He said slowly, prowling out of the den in front of NightShade.

Fernshade grimly strode out of DawnClan camp, her ears flattening as she glanced towards the Leaders' Den. Reedstar, there is no way--and there never will be--that I understand why you chose me, out of all the cats in this Clan, to assess Storm's warrior assessment. She thought bitterly, and turned away. Her ears returned to their casual state, and her grim stare turned calm as well as she glanced towards Wildgaze, still padded along. "Wildgaze, where shall we go for Storm's Hunting Assessment?" She meowed casually. The silver tabby's eyes fixated in thought. "Dunno." He meowed, looking back at her with a tail flick. "Your his mentor; it's your call." Fernshade replied firmly. He sighed, then glanced around.
"Okay, then it's the Branch Grass. That should be a good challenge." Wildgaze meowed, as he was confident on challenges. The Branch Grass was a territory that was scattered in leaves and branches, and because of this reason it was almost bare of Hunting Patrols at all times. The prey there was mostly full of squirrels and birds--the most observant ones with the best hearing, and only some of the most skilled cats were able to strode the grounds of the Branch Grass without snapping a twig. Fernshade nodded. "Then let's go."

Storm and NightShade were close behind them. "Thanks for coming with me." Storm said to the warrior next to him. "It's fine, I had a feeling that you were a bit overdue for this." NightShade replied, her fur bristling in the wind. "So where are we-" NightShade started, but was interrupted by the rustling of bushes from the border of ForestClan.
