for some reason part 5 of raylong's quest (the "reliable partner" one) accepts a shadow clefairy i got at level 70 or so despite it not hatching

When did you first encounter this issue with the Shadow Clefairy not hatching but still being accepted for Raylong's quest?

i’m no expert but could it be that the system just takes the first pokémon that you obtained right after you receive the quest?
as in, after you received the partner quest, you might have obtained the shadow clefairy before you hatched an egg. since the clefairy is a level 70 as you mentioned the system will take it as your strongest pokémon.

i think there were some other similar bugs about not hatching a pokémon but it’s still being identified as “hatched”, like in the halloween event last year i think someone caught a shiny retro gastly, but in prof. rowan’s lab it was reported that the professor says “I see you’ve hatched a special-coloured Gastly (Retro)”.

i had at least a few pokemon before the shadow, such as an azurill which i remember seeing under the strongest pokemon bit
