More valuable prizes from wheel of fortune
Forum-Index → Suggestions → More valuable prizes from wheel of fortuneI am suggesting for the pokeball to be replaced with great balls/ultra balls or increase the number of pokeballs earned, and for the common berries to be replaced with the expensive berries (micle, jaboca, rowap etc), mainly because these two mentioned prizes are not worth it compared to the requirements to play this minigame and to even unlock it.
Read below for my explanations as to why, and some responses to possible doubts.
Before that, i want to introduce what the wheel of fortune is for users haven’t unlocked it yet. (open spoiler)

In order to unlock it, you need to
hatch 3 milcery’s.
That is not an easy thing to achieve because milcery is rare and uncommon to get from the lab.
It is hard to breed because it is an all female species and can only be bred with ditto or other compatible pokémon, but the production of eggs is not very successful because whatever pokémon you breed milcery with it will not form a perfect pair.
The final solution is through gem collector if you already have a milcery registered to pokédex, but since they are rare rarity they cost a lot of fairy gems (60 if i’m not wrong), which are already uncommon to get.

Now i will explain why i think the two mentioned prizes should be changed.

TL,DR: the value of berries or pokeballs you win is not worth it compared to the amount of game chips you spend to spin the wheel.
Unlocking the wheel itself is not an easy task, and after doing so you would probably want to try your luck and see what cool stuff you can win. Now imagine you get a pokeball. One singular pokeball. That thing is only worth 200pd in the item shop, and only <100pd in the gts item market. Remember that you need to spend 1000 game chips, which is 10K pd when converted, to spin the wheel ONCE. You are basically winning back only 0.01% of what you spent. Sounds more like a loss than a win to me.
If the pokeballs could be replaced with great balls or ultra balls, it would be slightly more worth it than just normal pokeballs, even if it’s just winning one great ball or pokeball, because they have higher catch rate than the normal pokeball which makes them more useful. If that can’t be replaced, then maybe replacing the single pokeball with 5-10 pokeballs could be another solution. At least you’ll win something cheap but win more of it, right?
And now for berries. From my own experience (because the wiki doesn’t say what are all the possible berries to be won) i’ve only won relatively common berries like nanab or rindo berries. These are even worse, costing only 40pd in the item shop and 1 to 5pd on the market. Though you may win maybe 50 or so berries the total is still never enough to be worth the money. You can literally buy just 5 berries from the shop/market, grow and level them in the berry garden, and harvest them to earn even more berries. They can also be obtained from rumbling. You can also get pokeballs and even better, great balls, form some rumble areas too.
so my suggestion is to also replace these common berries with the ridiculously expensive ones, such as starf berries and custap berries, that you can occasionally buy in the item shop. now those cost 10K pd, equal to the amount of games chip needed to spin the wheel. so even getting just 1 of those berries is worth it. of course, since you don’t win berries from the wheel everytime you play it, it would also be nice to win maybe 5-10 of those berries.
(adding on to berries, the expensive ones aren’t really so valuable. on the FAQ page on the wiki
no one will really buy these from the item shop because, as said many times, they’re expensive. yea. the wheel of fortune could serve as a more… “fun” way to obtain these berries without having to use pd to buy them.

“why did you only suggest to replace berries and pokeballs and not other items?”
the two mentioned are the least valuable.
- mystery boxes may not cost that much in the market but they can only be obtained through rumbling or trading.
- sweets are basically the main point of the wheel.
- old vinyl is just a little surprise if you’re lucky, and you can only get it from the wheel or trading.
- evolution stones? i think those are fair because people sell them overpriced in the market, and they’re not always available in the item shop. though i’m not sure if the evolution stones are limited to the stones (fire stone, sun stone etc). because the wiki says evolution item, which would include items such as razor claw, galarica wreath, deep sea scale, etc. those evo items i have just mentioned are more expensive than evo stones in both market and item shop,
- and for game chips, usually you’ll get a few thousand, at least 100% more of what you spent (so you spend 1000gc, you win 2000 at least.) though it is possible to win <1000gc, and that has happend to me before. i’m not really bothered by that because it’s only a few hundred gc lost compared to losing 950gc when winning berries.
“higher or lower literally gives you nothing if you’re not lucky”
there is no wait time for higher or lower. that means you can continuously gamble away with at higher or lower and hope to win some game chips. whereas you need to wait six whole hours (because of the special pokémon treatment) to play the wheel of fortune. this means you only get to play it once a day if you’re not very active, or maybe 4 times a day if you’re chronically online.
Since there’s also no notification to alert you when the wheel cooldown is over you have to remind yourself to play it. if you forget to go play it then you might have just missed your second or third chance of the day to play.
“concentration game has a cooldown too.”
it’s only 1 and a half minutes. besides this game relies on your skill and not random clicking. if you know what you’re doing you can earn a profit of at least 70% of what you spent.
(so for concentration hard mode, you spend 5000gc. if you get like 20 wrong answers you still win back 9000gc more or less, giving you a profit of 4000gc)
“what about treasure hunt? if gives you nothing most of the time and there’s a 15 minute cooldown”
that depends on your luck. besides you’re not guaranteed to always win something from treasure hunt, where as you’re guaranteed to win at least one thing in wheel of fortune. and i for one would expect that thing to be decently worth it. same goes for lottery and raffle.
as for the cooldown, you can skip it with a few nuggets. you can enable notifications (under gameplay settings) to alert you when the cooldown is over. you can’t do either of those for wheel of fortune.
”if you’re not happy with what you win, then why don’t you just… not play the wheel of fortune?”
well you see, i don’t play it for the berries/pokeballs. i play it for the old vinyl. i’m pretty sure many other users do the same too.
everything else that’s not an old vinyl or a sweet is basically a compensation/consolation prize, which is why i would want these prizes to be worth it, not some cheap stuff that i could get from literally anywhere else. you can’t really utilise the pokémon stats thing to control whether or not you can get old vinyl either because the default starting position of the wheel is random.

I put a lot of thought and did searching when making this suggestion, and have tried to make it as clear and detailed as possible. If, after reading the above, you still have anything you want me to elaborate on or any doubts, please ask me in this thread before voting “i wouldn’t use it/does not affect me” or “this should not be implemented”. i will try to answer the best way i can. or if you have any ideas that you would want to add/change about my suggestion, please tell me them in here too, it will help a lot.

I don’t even use the game centre that often and i guess this is why. I had to hunt milcery for someone and i spent a lot of time waiting for milcery eggs. If i wanted to unlock the wheel of fortune as a newbie id probably just quit the game, so the prizes could at least be worth it.
