I was debating playing PH again because I have a strong desire to collect shinies but I had whiplash from remembering how slow the egg rates were and having conversaitons with friends at the time on how poor the rates seemed to be.

Even with the premium pass and items to increase egg rates, I was very rarely getting a full batch of 6 eggs a day to hatch, nuggets aren't exactly cheap and when you aren't feeling any benefit, it's not really worth it.

This was a couple of years ago though, are the rates any better now?

Premium and flute user here. Also had a pretty long experience in shiny hunting.

The egg rates are pretty good, though it depends on the rarity of the mon ur hunting.
With premium and flutes, the average eggs that i get per day (assuming the breeding pair is perfect) are:
Easy - approx 30 eggs per day
Medium - approx 20 eggs
Hard - approx 20 eggs
Rare - approx 15 egg (not really sure here cause i rarely hunt rare mons)
