Shiny Hunting
Forum-Index → Help → Answered → Shiny HuntingThe most common method of getting these eggs is by Daycare. If you put a breeding pair of the pokemon you want to hunt, and your pair is the same pokemon, then you only get that pokemon and there's no need to scan the eggs.
That sounded confusing, so here's an example. If I put one male Vulpix and one female Vulpix in the Daycare together, I will only get Vulpix eggs. I know each egg is a Vulpix egg so I do not have to scan the eggs.
Another common method is the Gem Collector, where you exchange gems for eggs. This can be expensive though.
People also use the Tall Grass.
Additionally, because your shiny chain is hatching the same pokemon over and over, if it is revealed in the Lab that the pokemon you are hunting is there, then you may take the egg and it will count towards your chain.
For example, say I am hunting Caterpie. There is one egg in the Lab that has been there for so long, that it reveals its pokemon is Caterpie. I may take it because it is the same pokemon I am hunting.
If you take eggs that are not your hunting pokemon though, your chain will break!
TLDR Daycare, Tall Grass, Gem Collector, and Lab if lucky
